the music video will actually guide you through the song. the title balang araw means someday in english... the couple got separated by death but the daughter luckily survived. the husband still misses his wife so much that he still makes 2 cups of coffee...he's hiding the pain from his daughter but what daughter will not feel the pain her remaining parent is feeling, right? so she knows her father is terribly missing her mom. she inherited her mom's talent so she makes a portrait of her but in the end she ends up finishing her father's unfinished portrait, too, because he also died, as shown in the end where the paintings were hung side by side with their urns on the table. they are finally reunited. such a beautiful, sad song...

From the English translation he provided about the words in the chorus, it sounds like the tale of a man hoping to be reunited with his true love...... or maybe even the other way around??? Either way..... It’s a brilliant follow-up to “One Sweet Day”, that’s for sure. Apparently, the man here loses his wife to childbirth, the daughter grows up while the guy still has tokens of still longing for the presence of his wife (2 coffee mugs on the table). After several years, he brings out the half-finished painting of him his wife was working on, his daughter completes it and paints a portrait of her mother as well. At the end, the daughter hangs both paintings side by side and below are two urns. Finally, the two are reunited.

Its really hard to see one of them leaving and the other one staying strong and overcoming everyday with a lonely heart. My mom died almost 2 years ago and I know somewhere, somehow at some place in time, they'd be together again someday. I know my dad is dying to see her smile that captured him and swept his feet off 36 years ago.
