      the mk8.5 black edition grew on me even more. i hated the mk8 at first but it did grow on me a little bit for the technology it has.

    I did the 93 octane flash on my 22 SE and I’ve been loving it! It feels FAST and the pops on the downshifts sound awesome! Can’t wait to get an exhaust for it as well! These cars are awesome man 🙌🏽

    What’s the build quality of the MK8 like compared to your MK6? I’m asking because I have a MK6 and thinking of getting a MK8.

    • @octane_media
      @octane_media  ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally think the mk8 is better. There is a couple of things that are frustrating that has shown throughout the mk8 community, like the entertainment center. But overall it is faster, has a better layout and is easier to keep clean. It’s the same car just newer. You get everything great out of the older one in a newer more advanced platform. If you are looking for a change but keep everything you love about the mk6 the mk8 will be great for you. Hope that helps !

    You said you did the normal, or "high torque" file, but when I spoke with 034 they said their low torque is the only one for non tuned TCU. On their site it's listed at 355lbs of torque, but in the e-mail they told me their low torque is 387lbs which is the cap for any untuned TCU. So any idea how you got away with doing the higher torque file? I'm guessing regardless you're capped but curious as to what you actually dyno despite having the higher torque file.

    • @ScottH1130

      I hear the stock TCU has a torque limiter anyway. So your torque is limited either one you choose.

    Hey man good stuff, I'm looking into getting a 034 for my gti, and was wondering if there an option for low torque with the dsg? I know it's an odd thing, but I wouldn't mind having less torque for daily driving.

    • @octane_media
      @octane_media  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do believe so although the DSG is more than capable of it , if you don’t mind what is your build date on your VIN for example mine is 4/22 which was the cut off for the DSG flash that came with the tune so I was not able to flash my DSG yet.

  • @cyclistman6358
    @cyclistman6358 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Isn't it risky to increase engine torque and not do a TCU tune at the same time? The DCT clutch pressure should be increased to handle the additional torque other wise the clutch packs could slip and burn the clutch plates.

    • @octane_media
      @octane_media  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say yes if you’re absolutely hammering it all the time I definitely would think so . I don’t think that in moderation until the TCU flash is compatible with my car it’d make a difference or if so it’d be very negligible.

    • @octane_media
      @octane_media  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have an update on your concern! So on 034 website it states that if you are unable to flash your TCU your car will limit the amount of torque being sent to your trans more or less a safety net to prevent any excess wear on your clutch packs and transmission itself. I hope this helps!

    • @octane_media
      @octane_media  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice ! And so far it has been great I haven’t had any issues with it. And as with any power mods and any vehicle if you thrash on it daily I’m sure you will run into things breaking not because of the tune itself more of a side effect of how the car is driven with extra power.
