    Here are some of the key things I have learned:
    Information technology refers to the use of digital systems, software, and networks to store, process, and communicate information.
    IT encompasses a wide range of technologies, including hardware (such as computers and mobile devices), software (such as operating systems and applications), networks (such as the internet and intranets), and storage systems (such as cloud computing and databases).
    IT has transformed many aspects of modern life, including business, education, entertainment, and communication.
    Some of the key subfields within IT include cybersecurity, data science, software engineering, web development, and artificial intelligence.
    IT professionals often work in roles such as IT support, network administration, software development, data analysis, and project management.
    IT is a rapidly evolving field, with new technologies and innovations emerging all the time. Staying up-to-date with the latest developments is essential for IT professionals.
    Overall, information technology plays a critical role in modern society, enabling people and businesses to communicate, collaborate, and innovate in ways that were once impossible.

    So I work at a mine as an equipment Operator and been taking college classes when I can and saw they have a IT position in my company so I put in for laughs…… I’m almost done with the screening but I have an interview in a week and idk how to feel I’ve never thought about doing IT before and it is a 20grand increase if I get it but I feel … like I’m not smart enough for it, so I’m watching as much as I can to get some info to help me… I feel like I can’t let this opportunity pass by. Don't ever feel like you're not smart enough! That just creates unrealistic doubts. Focus on what you can do. We live in the age of technology and information man! Get those fingers cracking at courses here, CompTIA A+, even udemy has some good courses. You can do it man! What you'll see is that there's a lot of things you'll know that common folk often times do not, you'll be surprised.

    • @TophinatorStreams

      Actually, let’s talk about “touch” in a physics manner. Bring some hope in.
      Did you know you’ll go your entire life without “touching” anything?
      It’s true. According to physics, we don't actually touch things because of electron repulsion. Inside every atom, is a negative electric charge that repels other electrons, preventing touch.
      What you “feel”, IS that repulsion.
      You could say; everyone is literally repulsed by everyone else!

    Is it possible to become software developer/engineer if you studied information technology as a major?

    • @JJFlores197
      @JJFlores197 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its possible, but there is usually not much overlap between IT and software engineering. You will either need to learn about programming on your own or take extra courses.

    • @rationalEv
      @rationalEv ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, it's also possible to become a software developer or software engineer with a major in Information Technology (IT). While IT programs may have a slightly different focus compared to traditional computer science programs, they still often cover programming and software development topics to some extent.
      An IT degree might emphasize practical skills such as systems administration, networking, cybersecurity, and database management. Depending on the specific courses you take within your IT program, you might still learn programming languages, software design principles, and even work on coding projects.
      If you're interested in pursuing a career as a software developer or software engineer with an IT degree, consider these steps:
      1. **Choose Relevant Electives:** If your IT program allows for elective courses, choose those that focus on programming, software development, and application design.
      2. **Personal Projects:** Work on personal coding projects outside of your coursework. Building software, applications, or contributing to open-source projects can showcase your coding skills to potential employers.
      3. **Internships and Co-op Opportunities:** Look for internships or co-op opportunities where you can gain hands-on experience as a software developer. Real-world experience is invaluable for transitioning into a development role.
      4. **Continuous Learning:** Stay curious and keep learning. Software development is a dynamic field with evolving technologies. Stay up-to-date by exploring new languages, frameworks, and best practices.
      Remember that the path you take might be slightly different compared to someone with a traditional computer science degree, but your IT background can provide a unique perspective and skillset that is valuable in the software development industry.

      IT is an extremely broad field with many sub specializations. I think AI will play a bigger role in certain aspects of IT, but not entirely replace all of the jobs. I mean, there still has to be human workers running around installing computers and printers. No amount of AI will be able to help Susan who calls the help desk each time the "out of paper" light turns on her printer or Debbie who always needs help with using the power button on the monitor.

      You more likely than not will need a degree for higher laying positions like that. It is possible to not do schooling, but you will need many certifications and to be very knowledgeable in your specialization. Don’t shy away from a degree though, there are plenty of good programs out there that will set you up good. Look up WGU degrees, many come with certifications, it is completely online, usually is completed within only 3 years and is cheaper on average than other colleges.

      CS and IT are different from each other. CS deals with programming and theoretical computation, whereas IT is more practical and hands-on with technology.

    What college degree do i need ?

    • @JJFlores197
      @JJFlores197 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an incredibly ambiguous question as it greatly depends on what you want to do in IT. IT is an extremely broad field with many sub-specialties. A lot of actual IT jobs don't really require a college degree. It may help get past HR filters, but I don't believe they should be necessary. Maybe if you're trying to get into management-level positions they are more important. You don't need a college degree to setup a Windows Server environment, for instance.
