No drumline has yet to march and play like this drumline. They hardly ever stopped, they were just running around the field the entire show. Even the camera guy had a hard time trying to catch up with them.
...Annnnnd this is EXACTLY what made me want to drum. I was 15 when I watched this bass line play 8 and 25 unison with ridiculous quality!! Over and over again....Unreal....
@tonydrumr Try marching on that 3 days a week. I went to school at Northwestern State and they put in new turf that ended up being hotter than what you were previously marching on. The drill you guys had was amazing. Drumline never stops.
Dude, it was 103 degrees outside and supposedly 118 on the turf. Shoes melting into the turf, drummers hands burned after doing pushups, cops warning us about the heat wave while staff smirked, oh and a 14 hr rehearsal block. Nobody in that corps forgets that day. That's where we got tough. It was funny owning that field while watching their football team practice indoors.
@DrmrGuy1979 Sounds like they knew something at the time that everyone else didn't. :) I'm sitting here thinking about that G7 (G8, G9?) hubbub that took place after finals last year. I think they were an amazing group but I also think I understand why they did what they did.
I gotta wonder why I'm the only dunce without a drum cover in this lol
It was about 150 degrees on the turf that day!! Half the corps had diarrhea! The best rehearsal of the year!!
Why are they marching tenors with only 2 drums at 1:10 ?
Yeah, Linda Hannum took all this footage.
The roll at the end is so clean it sounds like the basses just have snares right on them.
Dang, far left snare at 1:41 is hauling. Sick drill.

@SpDrumz Flubs. They're like drums 3 and 4 on quads pushed together with deeper shells and tuned really, really low.
Sick footage .... TY!
rim shot at 0:51 is unbelievably clean.
Gotta love the Figment hat on 3rd bass!
A fitting ending to the video..... :)
Flubs let's gooo
What drums that are next to tenors?
Basedrum drill at 1:53ish is just crazy!!
I saw that and had to say, oh my god! They were hauling!

Star didn't break up. They moved out of DCI and did the Canadian Brass Theater. Then that evenually evolved into the Blast! show.
After I listen to Star everything else sounds dirty.
Why did Star break up? Funding? Membership? I can understand the move to BLAST and other things but as a corps, why did they fold??
center tenor this year rights our music..dave reeves and our main teck is center snare..awesome(:

Where do the marching toms come from? Were they in the pit? I don't think they're on the field the whole show...
Yes. Flubs were from the pit
I always like a hornline (0:05) that does calisthenics!
rare footage
