    • @TheExplodingPumpkin
      @TheExplodingPumpkin 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      +JJ Kent Not really. If his max is at about 600 lbs he's only lifting 2/3 of his potential weight. If someone who is only able to bench 100 lbs talked while benching ~67 lbs, you wouldn't be nearly as impressed.

    • @jjkent4551
      @jjkent4551 8 ปีที่แล้ว +76

      TheExplodingPumpkin
      It's impressive either way, 99% of all people can't even do one rep with 405 and he's so comfortable with that massive weight he's able to talk while pressing it.

    • @KavasPVP
      @KavasPVP 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Ryan Well he's right. 85% of your 1RM will be easier than your 1Rm because you're used to being able to lift a heavier weight. If you can bench 125 max, then talking while benching 110 wouldn't be a problem either. It's about how strong you are. There's still that same percentage level difference, doesn't matter if the weight is 600 lbs or 100 lbs, it's about how much YOU can lift

      I don't mean to disrespect you. But he has helped many out there. What have you done?
      And to Saurav Verma;
      He's not fit like Mike Chang. He's just strong. I bet this guy can't even run 3 miles. Mike Chang is about being in shape. Not lift heavy weights.
      You're putting to fitness guy into one category when it's two different type of training.
      And honestly, I don't even like Mike Chang. His training isn't for me.
      I'm just saying. He's smart and know how to advertise himself. This guy just makes video and share it for free. He's not putting adds on youtube like Mike Chang is. That's why he's not famous. He can if he do more advertisement.
      If you guys are in the fitness community. We all respect one another. Not try to clown on each other.
      It's call 'Tips.'
      It may not work for you, but it works for others.

    Too all of those talking crap about how he is on roids and crap like that, the meet he was at where he broke those records was drug tested by the sanctioning body. lol and for the guy who said that 405lbs isn't possible without roids on bench press.. You simply need too spend less time here telling others what isn't possible and spend more time working towards proving that you yourself can do it if you simply put in the work and effort it takes and don't make excuses for your misperceived self imposed limitations too be passed on to others. lol

      lol uhh bud I compete in natural powerlifting and have done a 415 myself at 220 bracket . There are people out there who simply work smarter towards their goals than others. Just because someone is strong it doesn't mean they are on drugs . I have videos up of heavier lifts than that at 242 and 275 bracket bud . It just isn't what people are used too that's why they automatically think someone is drugged when they see someone who has competed since a young age lifting that much. People are defensive towards what they don't understand.

    • @lynnjester7859
      @lynnjester7859 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      405 is most definitely possible while staying natural. I would encourage you to try out real powerlifting style training that focuses on speed and strength, rather than your normal bodybuilding regiment. Good news is that you should be pretty symmetrical and therefore at lesser risk of injury under big weights.

  • @iwillneverpostavideo
    @iwillneverpostavideo 9 ปีที่แล้ว +40

    This guy is nowhere near the strongest man in the world. I'm not sure he's even top 10. I wish these youtube videos would stop slapping the "Strongest Man in the World" label on everyone that's very strong.

    • @WillWalkerJr
      @WillWalkerJr 9 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      He said he's the record holder in his weight class

    • @iwillneverpostavideo
      @iwillneverpostavideo 9 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      That doesn't necessarily make him the strongest man in the world. There are other men that can beat him at all three of the big lifts in terms of powerlifting. And if you expand our criteria to include strongman competitors he could get blown away.
      I'd say that the record this man holds would make him "the most well-rounded powerlifter in the world" which is still a great achievement and it's a fuck of a lot more than me of course-- but he's not the strongest.

    • @richardmarvell9526
      @richardmarvell9526 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I Try and be Nice If you can out-lift this guy in the 3 exercises your point is valid. If not... take a seat lol

    • @iwillneverpostavideo
      @iwillneverpostavideo 9 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      Being strong has nothing to do with being logical. I don't need to be stronger than him to know he's not the strongest, get what I mean?
      I'm not saying the guy's weak, and I'm definitely not saying I'm stronger than him. He's way out of my league, and he's very impressive! But that doesn't mean I can't call him out whenever he pretends to be something he's not.
      But using your logic, we could rightly say that once this guy deadlifts 1150 pounds and push presses 274 pounds one handed for reps like Zydrunas Savickas can, then he's valid ;)

    OK...you're strong, but no expert on physiology apparently. Your rear delts are not activated in ANY pushing movement. They are for pulling. Hence why they're in the back of your shoulder. It is most definitely your front delts that take a huge portion of the load.

    • @IJustGotCCd
      @IJustGotCCd 10 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      If you position yourself correctly and activate your entire upper back for a big benchpress you certainly would feel a good activation even on your back muscles.
      Bench is not only about your front, you need a big stable back aswell.

    • @ecastro715
      @ecastro715 10 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I often have sore rear delts after bench day. Especially from incline.

    • @chrishahn7256
      @chrishahn7256 10 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You're all idiots. Then your back isn't developed enough. Look at physiology. Look at how muscles function. If you get any back work done by benching then you never do back. Yes, the rear dealt stabilizes the shoulder joint but if its already developed then you won't feel or gain anything in it from bench presseing

    • @Gimmlie6262
      @Gimmlie6262 10 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      So lets critise the entire fitness industry for say this. You clearly don't know jack shit about a proper bench. I am not going to argue with you because you are to dense to look how to properly bench. I guess I can say that it doesn't come directly from pressing but more keeping your back tight and squeezeing you back at the bottom to pop out of the bottom for the movement. But I can say I experience the same thing where my back gets sore, and I also do 1 heavy back movement every night I train and I do face pulls every night. I do not have an under developed back by any means.

    Its interesting to note that when the bar is against his sternum you can clearly see before he presses there is leg drive going on. Its almost like a power wave that starts from his feet that arrives at his chest and the bar bounces off. If you could explain a little more about that technique it would be awesome.

If you take steroids and do freakin smithmachine benchpresses you fuck up your shoulders and end up with twiggy alien arms(that i asume you have). I have seen people on roids lift less and have less size than me, Roids are a supplement to proper lifting and a prober diet. If you take roids and live on oreos and frenchfries you wont get anywhere. you will then be a twiggy alien with oversized forearms compared to the rest of your body from all the masturbation and channel surfing you do.

    • @batfreak3893
      @batfreak3893 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Stab Blooder You do realize that these exercises don't mean shit except that you are strong in THOSE positions. But I guarentee you can't straight bar curl 300 lbs with good form or bicep curl 150 lbs in one hand with good form. Usually big guys do these types of execersices just show off when in reality its useless in fights and ensures slow speed from all the mass on their bodies. I believe a big man who can win real fights and is agile to be FAR more impressive than a guy who just lays on his back and pushes a heavy bar in a CONVENIENT way above his chest. This is the problem with weight lifters, most of you are obsessed with the fact you can lift pieces of iron that were shaped CONVENIANTLY for you to grab.You may be able to curl 275 lbs but that just means your arms have adapted to lift that weight in THAT specific position. But if you tried to lift a 275 man, you won't be able to lift him in any other way than THAT position. Powerlifters, Bodybuilders, you all just TRAIN to lift weights in specific positions but you cannot DO anything else because you don't TRAIN for anything else. If I put a powerlifter and sumo wrestler in an arena to wrestle eachother, the sumo wrestler would always WIN do the fact that he was TRAINED TO WRESTLE AND WIN, he was TRAINED FOR THAT SITUATION unlike the powerlifter.
      So, when you guys boast about how "badass" you all are because of what you do in the gym, remember this, YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO DO ANYTHING ELSE. You are bound to ONE skill and that's it. The rest is pretty much based on your genetics, some of you might be able to take a punch and some of you will go down after the first strike to the head. So, there's that consideration. But if I put Rich Piana or Da Hulk or The Mountain in the same room with a master MMA fighter, no referee, no rules, they'd all fail one by one. The Mountain's size would be his worst enemy, Da Hulk would be too slow & Rich would be overwhelmed by the fighter's quick & precise strikes aswell.

    As a old school guy who lifts in his basement I have a question. I have the old smaller 45 lb. steel plates. Why is he using these newer larger plates? Any advantage to them? Then on tip no.3 he goes back to my old school style plates. The guy pushed 405 lbs off his chest like it was nothing, that's impressive!

      Rubber plates don't damage the floor like steel.

    Eric Lillibridge 2,353 Raw Total (no knee wraps) as a 308 and only 24 years old. This guy just ate shit by about 150 lbs. LOOOL

      @talder123 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Lilliebridge is the best Raw Lifter (no knee wraps) in history. Dan Kovacs is one of them who just got his record taken. At lease he had a record. What have you done?

    • @talder123
      @talder123 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      talder123 Just saw your videos. Seems like you've been powerlifting for quite some time. Carry on. Just don't shit on others who have done more than you and just because he got beat makes him all of the sudden a loser. Most people will never total 2204 yet alone 2000

    • @jps8700
      @jps8700 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      talder123 LOL, I can tell you one thing I haven't done. I've never called myself "The strongest man in the world". It takes BIG BALLS to call yourself that. Especially in Kovacs position. A man who holds no major records. Nice Powerlifting total, but nothing that could ever possibly make himself pass as the strongest man in the world.

      JS8700 still pales in comparison to Karl Yngvar Christensen, 2706 total and made it look easy.

      @jps8700 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      oliskranz He competes in gear. You must be that special type of stupid. He pulled like 859 I think wearing a deadlift suit and Lilliebridge did 887 raw. I think he squatted 1080 wearing a suit and knee wraps. Eric has done 915 with just a belt and sleeves as a 308, not a superheavyweight. And he only trained without wraps for like 6 weeks.

    Respect to him. But come on guys if your hardcore trainer. You all know it's steroids. Also years of lifting. I started training at 16. Max weight 300lb. On gear close to 5 plates. But it took me few years still on gear. Training 5 days week. Eating like animal. But believe me the gear does make huge difference. Depends what you want size. Or size shape. That's whole different story. And different drugs.

    This is the exact technique i use. Lower it deliberately, pause, then drive a straight path to lockout. Bench feels incredibly smooth.
