One of my absolute favorite games but I always house rule where you pull your next tile at the end of your turn so you have time to think about what you want to do. It speeds up the game, too. Another hack is to have two tiles to choose from each turn and then draw back up to two, but I don't do that one. The first two expansions - Inns & Cathedrals and Traders & Builders - are both great and I try to never play without them as part of the base game, unless there are first timers. Thanks for playing this classic!
What's the matter Legendary? After you bought Geek&Sundry and wanted us to PAY for Tabletop instead of willingly fund it, you expect to win us back by making Game the Game public? This "Project Alpha" bullshit is why Wheaton left in the first place.
wait i just came back from a month of being not on youtube? Will Wheaton left? well there's no point being subbed then, he and the games when they are played (which are very rare). well what happened
eddy zagan [][][] A company called "Legendary" bought Geek&Sundry. They quickly formed "Project Alpha" a paid subscription video service. Now the rest is all hearsay, but what has been going around is that Legendary wanted Table Top to be on Alpha only, blocked behind a pay wall. Wil said no and threatened to walk. So Legendary said they would only release it early on Alpha and then put it on TH-cam 3-4 months later (as we got with the last season) due to Legendary's business practices and a bit of fatigue, Wil walked. I'd bet dollars to donuts that they tried to do the same with Critical Role, but they don't own the rights to D&D and I'm sure the cast wouldn't allow it. That's why the Alpha version just has character portraits and a recap show. Now I would applaud them for putting these shows on TH-cam, but, I'm not sure it's out of any sort of fan appreciation. If anyone knows more, please let me know and if Legendary or Geek&Sundry want to clarify any of this, I'm listening.
Mack Debruin yeah a reply from will himself of from legendary geek and sundry would be better It's good to be transparent with these kind did things. They were kind of a family or friends at one point so they should let him of with a party and be open about it
Is anyone else dying at 45 minutes when Gina could have dropped the monastery with abbot into a space with 7 surrounding tiles (where the river turns from flowing east to flowing north)? If you don't pull the magic last tile next turn, just pull the abbot.
Here are some corrections on rules mistakes for those interested, or those watching this video to learn how to play: 7:39 Wrong. The only rule of the river is that it cannot IMMEDIATELY turn in the same direction. For example, if player A places a left turn, and player B places a straight piece or a right turn, player C can place a left turn as well. Basically, as long as the placement of the current river tile doesn't create the possibility of an illegal placement on the next player's turn, it's good. 13:11 Wrong. While most of the times that's true, in this case it isn't. Notice: A) The village is on the edge of the tile and not the center. B) The road continues through the city instead of being interrupted by a brown patch of land. As such, both ends of the road on this tile are a single road. 14:10 The Lake tile doesn't count as Becca's tile. On her turn, she should have closed the river with the Lake tile, which she is not allowed to place a Meeple on, then drawn a tile from a stack and played THAT one as normal.
It was enjoyable. But I would suggest that you teach guests the game fully before recording. Maybe play a few games off-camera. It will surely make for better viewing, and be more fun for the guests, as well as host Becca. Of course, you should still present a quick overview of any game's rules for those new to it. I always appreciate that. Oh, and what a finish for Bob! Cheers.
56:51 You mean this one? No, it actually doesn't, because there isn't a gap between the small city to the left and the big city below it. They are separate cities, but the walls stretch to the very corners of the tile, which cuts the field off.
Hey Becca, and/ or Geek and Sundry crew, could a future game on Game the Game be Fluxx? Even if it is a themed one but the original is still fun but I love that game
Wil Wheaton pulled the plug on Table Top after Geek and Sundry was bought by another party and wanted to put Table Top behind a pay wall. Wil did not want that to happen so cancelled Table Top. This is it's weak replacement.
I don't know if it's possible to suggest a game to do either as a how to and/or game the game, but I would ask for Marrying Mr.Darcy and the hogwarts battle card game as a multi part. Thanks
The random music playing was a little distracting but otherwise the rest of the video was fine. As a huge fan of Carcassonne (My BGG collection page would confirm this) I can say that only two real mistakes were made in the game but none so bad as to break the game or make the experience that followed not enjoyable. One, the river CAN turn in the same direction it just can't do so immediately. Basically you can't do an immediate U-turn but as long as there is a river tile in between then you are fine. Two, the river tile with the road and the village on that road is only one single road. The depicted village does NOT break the road. If you look carefully, that particular road goes through the village but on other tiles like those with the three way and four way junctions the roads stop at villages and do not go through them. Again this video was by no means the worst board game playthrough I've seen.
At 48:00, I don't know if Becca intentionally cheated or just forgot about the rule but she placed a tile into an empty space that was already surrounded by tiles, which is an illegal move 😏
Uh I only report Nika's Goth Mall from that episode but go away about Tabletop. I love that show and Will but I am sick of people hating on this show b/c Tabletop
I'm glad you're doing games you like. I assume that's the only explanation for this video. For me though, I was kindly reminded how much I hate this game and boring it is.
About the lady calling the Abbot a pillsbury dough boy to make it non denominational.... It's annoying how people try to edit out religion. It's a game about medieval France, you don't have to know or care about religion but to engage in revisionist history and edit out an important part of the society at the time is wrong. As a historian people projecting their modern values back into the past is frustrating. I know it's something minor but it seems to come up a lot.
to be honest I do not see how Carcassonne can be anyones favourite game....I was starting to enjoy Game The Game as they were playing *new* games but now with this snooze fest from the past
If you are going to do another show of table top at least you could be more original in the name of the show (Game the Game, really ???). Besides Wil´s version of this show is funnier.
That comment about "highway-women" made me laugh. You do know that, throughout the vast majority of history, the male form of pronouns were considered the default when speaking generally about people, right? It was only because women "made a thing about it" that the female form became the default in the last decade. I love that you made it seem like men were the ones making a stink, after women made such a huge stink about it. I also love that women said that it was sexist to assume that, when speaking generally, the people being talked about were male, and then we just changed it to the female form, as if that wasn't just the polar opposite, and therefore equally "sexist"; if we wanted to eliminate the "problem", shouldn't we just choose the gender neutral form? In this case, rather than saying highway-man or highway-woman, shouldn't we say highway-person instead? Anyway, the innocent hypocrisy just made me laugh. P.S. I understand the historical context behind assuming readers, for instance, were male- throughout most of history, only men were literate in the cultures in which those books were being produced. I do not see, however, why we would just change that to the female form, rather than the gender neutral form. Also, I am torn on issues like these; part of me thinks "in the grand scheme of things, it really isn't that important, and I should just let it go" (which she implies with her comment about "making a thing about it"), while the other part of me thinks "language is incredibly important, because it helps shape the way in which we perceive things". I cannot stop going back and forth on these kind of issues; sure, there are bigger issues like climate change, but also, obviously the people demanding these changes realize the importance of language, and seem to have an agenda. Again, if we had just changed to gender neutral words, I would not have even the slightest urge to speak up; however, changing to the female form, after the other side claims that the male form was supporting patriarchy, makes me think that they are trying to support a matriarchy which will be just as bad as the patriarchy (being its polar opposite extreme). I have a few instances like these, in which feminists claim that they want equality, but when I look at the changes they implement, I see them eschewing a neutral option that would support equality (in this case gender neutral terms), in favor of solutions that are merely the polar opposite of the system of patriarchy we had before, which would lead to a system that is just as sexist as before, but targeting men rather than women. Again, I know this may seem trivial to many, since there are more serious issues out there, but I would also reiterate that they seemed important enough to the other side that they demanded change. Also, in case it was unclear, I am a supporter of equality; I used to call myself a feminist, because it used to mean a person who fought for gender equality, but in the last decade, it has morphed as extremists took the movement over, and now seems to mean someone who favors women over men (in the way that misogynists favored men over women). I struggled with this, fearing I was becoming a misogynist as I got older, because I left feminism, but I have been reassured in the last 5 years as more and more women have echoed my concerns about how feminism has morphed (going from being about equality to being about pro-women/anti-men). Anyway, getting back to my original thought, I found it funny that she had that sarcastic comment about "making a thing about" favoring female forms of pronouns, because we only started doing so because feminists "made a thing about" the male form of pronouns. And again, being for equality, and realizing how important language can be in shaping how we perceive things, I think we should just use gender neutral pronouns in these types of cases. P.P.S. I wrote this comment, having paused the show to write it, before reaching the point at which she said "if you were bothered by the highwoman comment, maybe you should just relax". Really? If a man had been that condescending when women were complaining about the male forms of pronouns being used, women would have rightly said that he was being sexist. Why, then, is it okay for her to do the exact same thing? Isn't that just as condescending and sexist? Why should we allow a double standard in terms of condescending behavior or gendered pronouns? Again, this kind of stuff irritates me. She is right in terms of there being bigger issues, but if that is the case, then why make such a stink about using the female pronouns? Again, being for equality, I think that there should be equal standards of behavior (rather than double standards that now favor women). I have to say, that snarky comment irritated me; you cannot complain about others doing something, then do it yourself, and then condescendingly tell anyone pointing out the hypocrisy to shut up. If she does that again, I will stop watching the series, and down vote her videos. That behavior is Trump-esque.

I know, this is the show of 2 weeks ago. But you guys cheated. x3 This game already appeared on Will Wheaton`s Tabletop Show. x3
Becca is the best at explaining and hosting.
Looks fun. Going to give this a go. Thanks 👍
these videos are amazing! i was missing table top. this is a great alternative. Great job Becca!
hooray for complete games!
I love this game, I played it back in the Navy.
Carcassonne is a fortified city in the south west of France its not italian
I'm pretty sure that's the joke, and the reason Elyssa said that they "made it Italian."
"you just finished your fucking epic city!" This was the highlight
This was fun I found myself smiling throughout this video 😊
I love this game
I’ve played it quite a few times in the past
I'm sure a handful of people will already have said this but Carcassone is in France. I feel like Bob mispronouncing it early on threw everyone off.
The most used phrase in this video?
"Oh never mind, I got that wrong."

They’re missing all the devious field-stealing plays I would go for, lol

It's good to be transparent with these kind did things. They were kind of a family or friends at one point so they should let him of with a party and be open about it
Fun group, good explanation of the rules, left me wanting to play it again.
Kirk Wagner other than the mispronunciation of the GAME
30:25 should have put a meeple on the third road and immediately scored 3 more points, which would have won her the game by 1 point!!!
Was looking for this post as that Alyssa was not given that quick on off the road point grab 👍
@@ScrappyGamerDDS or farmer on her final turn
Is anyone else dying at 45 minutes when Gina could have dropped the monastery with abbot into a space with 7 surrounding tiles (where the river turns from flowing east to flowing north)? If you don't pull the magic last tile next turn, just pull the abbot.
OMFG, then Becca does exactly that at 48 minutes. Harsh.
Must stop watching and commenting. They are bombing at the end with mis-plays (Elyssa missing the city closure). I just can't.
Did anyone else notice that Bob's last placed farmer should have scored an additional 6 points?
that feeling when you'll sit through the rules of a game you know like the back of your hand cuz... becca.
Here are some corrections on rules mistakes for those interested, or those watching this video to learn how to play:

I definitely liked this video so much! I'd be amazing if you play it again including more or another expansions 🌈🌈✨
when gina said they're abbot-ing together-- they're co-abbot-ating
Worth the wait, I want too play Carcassonne now.
Maybe I'll just play with some meeples.
I see what you did there. 😏
I think they counted Bob's first farm wrong. I think he joined in on the 12 points.. :)
Nice game guys
Just to point out if you let Red Farm at the end when she placed her last piece she would have got 3 more points AND WON!
Bob got 6 more points, he was in the same field as everyone else, so his farmer should have scored for 4 completed cities
56:51
You mean this one?
No, it actually doesn't, because there isn't a gap between the small city to the left and the big city below it. They are separate cities, but the walls stretch to the very corners of the tile, which cuts the field off.
The game looks interesting
Carcassonne is the best!
why wouldnt u guys continued escape with janet varney? :C
Hey Becca, and/ or Geek and Sundry crew, could a future game on Game the Game be Fluxx? Even if it is a themed one but the original is still fun but I love that game
Wait what happened to tabletop with wil Wheaton. Does this mean it’s not coming back.
Wil Wheaton pulled the plug on Table Top after Geek and Sundry was bought by another party and wanted to put Table Top behind a pay wall. Wil did not want that to happen so cancelled Table Top. This is it's weak replacement.
that was the whole reason i subscribed? i was really curious why he didnt did a game in months
I would love to see that show "me in a sweater"
come on guys! Ok, its not Tabletop. I get that, but Becca does a good job.
i thought it was theif not highway woman or highway man
At least they seem to be starting to play good classic games instead of Legendary funded ones
Let's see that Gothic Mall!!!!
ACK...that background music. I know it. I have danced English Country dances to it.
Is it me or does Bob look like his last name should be Hardwick?
That city is as big ass Waterdeep
I don't know if it's possible to suggest a game to do either as a how to and/or game the game, but I would ask for Marrying Mr.Darcy and the hogwarts battle card game as a multi part. Thanks
Becca learned about betrayal from Ivan and learned it well! Never trust Becca!

They highway woman thing is the reason I rewatched this after Critical role. Well done to who ever thought of that.
Carcassonne is actually in France, not Italy 🙈🙈
rebeeeeeeeccaaaa
At 48:00, I don't know if Becca intentionally cheated or just forgot about the rule but she placed a tile into an empty space that was already surrounded by tiles, which is an illegal move 😏
Checked the rule book, it's not mentioned.
Always confused when random music plays.
I like the guys shirt
How in the hell did they stretch that out to an hour? Carcassonne takes 20 minutes tops.
Elyssa should've won, she had meeples.....and could've placed a farmer on her last turn....for 3 extra points ;)
31:40 She missed 3 points
34:30 weirdo... :p
I want to see Becca on Critical Role please!
REPLAY of the game -
Woot
I was all ready to relax before the highway woman bit, so it didn't bother me.😉
It's no tabletop😒
yo
#goodteacher
Wheaton Did it better.
Never did get close to it getting weird though... :-)
Nope
Uh I only report Nika's Goth Mall from that episode but go away about Tabletop. I love that show and Will but I am sick of people hating on this show b/c Tabletop
But Wil didn't do it weekly for 3 years.
i loved tabletop! it was the reason i loved board games , the person that was the most funny left and now there isnt much to fill in the gaps
I'm glad you're doing games you like. I assume that's the only explanation for this video.
For me though, I was kindly reminded how much I hate this game and boring it is.
rip Wheaton
Great video, even though I would prefer TableTop.
So many bad moves :D Being new to a game shouldn't stop you from using simple logic ;)
About the lady calling the Abbot a pillsbury dough boy to make it non denominational.... It's annoying how people try to edit out religion. Similarly, Wil Wheaton refusing to call a game resource slaves because slavery is bad was also extremely annoying. I think the game was Five Tribes.
This is not her favourite game.
Kevin TheScreenKiller
to be honest I do not see how Carcassonne can be anyones favourite game....I was starting to enjoy Game The Game as they were playing *new* games but now with this snooze fest from the past

no Nika, no fun.
or no will no fun either.
boring episode
I miss Tabletop. 😒
I miss tabletop
