Great video. Yamaha guy here as well as long time acoustic duo. Any chance you are able to compare the DHRs to the DXRs? I'm a long time DXR user but I have some DBRs now and am considering DHRs. I was looking for any noticable differences in sound quality with the DHRs. Thanks!
Hey Man! Thanks so much for watching! So I actually only have experience with the DHRs, I swear by em. I can go ahead and do some extra research and get back to ya! I'd love to go out and just buy some for comparison, but I'm just a one man show so I need to be carful how much I spend haha. Looks like the DXR's are similar to the DHR's, they just have slightly higher wattage and lots more DSP. The DBRs main differences from what I'm seeing are the drivers are just slightly less powerful than the DHRs, plus the DHRs have a kick-ass plywood enclosure, which oddly enough does something for the sound. I've always preferred plywood boxes over plastic. Hope that helps man, those DHR15s have some of the clearest signals and best tones from PA speakers I've ever heard, so they have my ringing endorsement, for what it's worth lol. Thanks again for watching man!!
@@therangermikeshow thx for getting back yeah the DXRmkii boxes have a 1.75" compression driver which is bigger than the original DXR versions and bigger than the DBR and DHR with the exception of the DHR12M which as you know has the 1.75" coaxial driver. I sold off all my original DXR stuff but I do have the dxr12mkii. Amazing boxes for sure we use them for large indoor 250 to 300 people events or medium to large outdoor events. Glad to hear you can speak highly about the Sonic signature of the DHR15s and their coverage. I don't doubt Yamaha at all so I'm sure they get the job done without a problem. If I end up picking up a set of DHR10s I will do a video on them as well. Yeah two person show here mostly but I handle all the PA. I wish I could just buy speakers to test out and not worry about it but it is what it is right? Actually I wish I could just be happy with what we've got but that won't happen! Thanks!
Great vid .I rented the yamaha 600 bt and one DXS 15 sub for a christmas party recently.could not beleive the sound and power out of them speakers,so upon returning the rentals ,,got talking to the guy about the DXR 10 MKII,ended purchasing a pair,Im still in awe in the sound quality even at low volumes,,so of course I didnt stop there ,I went back and purchased one DXS 12 MKII sub,,I'm really liking this setup ,,not regretting my purchase at all,
Great show buddy. Love the Yamaha. Always such strong clear sound for vocals. But I see a CHR12 and 15, and I see a CBR 15. Trying to get a great sounding PA. I prefer passive with Crown amp. Is the CHR same as DHR, just not powered? And where about the CBR's? They seem to have the same internals at the CHR's. Would appreciate your input. Thanks.
Oh ok lol. But I believe the DHR and CHR are the same sound, but one isn't powered. I'm fixing to get the CHR15. Thanks for your video. Keep up the great work
Hey man. I was looking for new speakers for the church. I’m debating Yamaha DBR , DXR or QSC k12.2. Which one will be best interms of quality and reliability. Thanks.
after 28 years i sold my HighEnd system AND my beloved Yamaha MS60S (60W only, which originally were sold as keyboard mmonitors) +12"sub. I'm old now and wanted to reduce the amount of devices. and my ears don't need HiRes speakers (studio monitors) anymore. i thought a JBL partybox could fit my needs. but the bass membrans of party boxes are mounted supersoft and produce just a booming bass. enough for many young people but for me it was the worst listening experience ever. after all i took a single DXR10 what for sure is oversized on the power side. but i need the bass! these membrans are mounted stiff like a peace of wood. they produce even on low volume a bass you can feel in ya butt! heights and midrange are good enough for all kind of music. and i can power every barbeque party in my yard beyond believe...
what would you recommend for using it as a bass amp . bass guitar through a origin vintage bass rig through.,compressor through rupert D.I.and into the 15'' power speaker . which power speaker would be the on for that application
Im sure you COULD do that, but I'd be careful. I wouldn't want to over-crank the low end drivers. My personal opinion, you'd be better off with a Bass amp. Hope this helps!
Absolutely! Although the 10 inch speakers are not going to give you much drive they can still work depending on what you’re putting through it. I think pairing those up with a 15 inch sub is smart. If you’re gonna be doing a big band, I would recommend the 15s with an 18 inch sub. Just depends on what you’re doing.
Unfortunately I don't, however, anything Yamaha produces tends to be out of this world good! The DZRs are more higher end than the DHRs and looks like they have some extra DSP and frequency tuning. I would say their quality is similar, but with this speakers, the more money you pay, the better it gets for the most part. Without listening to em I wouldn't be able to do a comparison obviously, but if it were my guess, they'd be able to handle slightly more output and have a little more fidelity with EQ, Freq, etc.. Hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching!
Greetings, thanks for the video. I currently have yorkville ps15ps and am wanting to upgrade. How do the dhr compare to jbl srx, rcf, qsc k.2 and the evs? How do the dhr handle music with multiple instruments playing at the same time?
Hey there1 Thanks for watching! So I have limited experience with some of those speakers you mentioned, so I wouldnt be able to speak on those , but the DHRs are great for multiple instruments. When my band was playing hard rock, we put our whole band through it and they handled like champs!!
Ive actually heard a lot of good things about the DHR 10's. I would assume they aren't going to have as much drive and low end space as the 15's but its Yamaha we're talking about so they make great products. My band and I needed the 15's because of what were putting out, smaller venues or bands would probably do well do get the smaller ones. Especially if they are slightly cheaper. Sorry for the late response!! Been workin on a lot of stuff! Thanks so much for watching!
Unfortunately I don’t have much experience with the DZRs, but Yamaha is always top tier with whatever they produce! My vote is on the DHR simply from experience. 🙌🏻 Thanks so much for watching!
Exactly, they still sounded awesome, and like I said in the video, I'm not the biggest fan of those all-in-one systems but I was pleasantly surprised with those Turbosound ip3000s.
Damn. I was 100% listening to your advice and shopping for Yamaha's...then I heard your horrible take on JBL EON's. Those are well known to be complete trash.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion hoss. I'd love to hear your personal experience with the eons. I never had an issue with em', granted only thing I used em for were floor monitors at a small venue.

hi, from Phils here, we just bought 1 pair of DXR15 mkii...and it was a bomb loudspeaker man...the best
Thanks so much for watching! Yamaha literal makes invincible and phenomenal equipment, ya can never go wrong with em!

Dude are you performing in public?
I want to hear sa DXR series in person.
Im torn between DXR and RCF art series.
What do you think about Yamaha CBR15, CHR15 or Yamaha CZR15, with Crown amps?
Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of experience with those. I made this video based on what I had haha

Between those model that you mentioned, most positive feedback are from DXR.

Can you use the DHR as floor monitors, they seem very square in shape?
I have tried before and i wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe the DHR 12s?? They are quite bulky on the floor.

What about the 10" DHR main speaker powered? and the DXS 15" SUB's powered, are they a good match?
Absolutely! Although the 10 inch speakers are not going to give you much drive they can still work depending on what you’re putting through it. I think pairing those up with a 15 inch sub is smart.

Thanks for review. I was wondering if you also have experience with their DZR range? How do the DHR compare with the DZR equivalent? Thanks
