Thanks for another great avenger video! My first pcp was the .25 avenger and I gotta say I've been absolutely blown away at the performance for the price. I've had a blast over the past few weeks with this baby.. Everyone that enjoys airguns should have one! My next investment will be a compressor. I've been hand pumping the avenger since day one.. It's honestly not to bad by hand!
Mine in a wood stock loves the JSB Hades with the hammer spring 2 turns in and my reg set at 2400 psi. It’s a real tack driver. Incredible airgun for the money. Barrel band and adapter/moderator from Buck Rail. Amazing prices and free shipping. Also my gun came with a plastic stock which I replaced later with a wood stock from PYA and my accuracy absolutely got much better. Worth the money to get this gun in wood especially for bench shooting but for just hunting the weight is less in the plastic stock and easier to carry around all day hunting.
Rick, so glad I saw your vid. A year ago I was sold on this gun. Can't afford a lot but this past year been reeealy lookin into a dreamline or dream pup. My 50 yd target w/ my umarex and my H bullpup is getting a little old. So I want to shoot 100 yds + and now I know this gun will do it. I also am the neighbor who keeps the coyote population under control w/my 1022 carbine, but maybe this one will let em know not to come back. Great info, thanks.
My first PCP was purchased on your recommendation, Rick. You said the UmareX Origin .22 (with pump) was the absolute best starter package for the money. MANY THANKS! I've been having a blast with this puppy from the git-go. My debate has been, which .25 cal. am I going after as my 2nd PCP? I don't want to break the bank, so I've been looking at the Avenger (wood stock), the JST Airacuda, and the DAR Gen III. Your comment about the Avenger warranting a scope priced twice as much as the rifle clinched the decision. Now I just have to call Rhonda @Pyramid Air and start spending $$. Thanks again, Rick.
I shot mine for the first time today, out to 120 with Air Arms pellets as well the Hades and FX, I missed too many times, I got tired of it and went back to my 100 yard target, lol. I absolutely love this thing, outta the box it shoots everything well and just so nice to shoot. I love mine, did I mention that? it's dark, I need to learn to shoot better in the dark, hmmmm. Maybe I can wait 'til sunrise, I love this gun, did I mention that?

Make sure you're not running to a "phantom" stop on that hammer spring adjuster. It will turn about 5 and a half turns from stop to stop but sometimes there is a little resistance so people stop before it is fully cranked in.
Hi I have a question I have a Hatsan BT65 QE. And I dry fired it with no air in the tank but it was installed in the gun and no pellet. Did I damage it?
It’s possible to bounce the valve stem out of position and cause it not seal properly. Hopefully you didn’t do that and it’s fine. Easy to fix if you did. You just have to take the valve off the cylinder and check the valve stem. But if you just did it once you are probably fine. Cheers AGW
I shot 22LR at the range. When i use 850 fps ammo i can barely do any good grouping.. i need to use 1200 fps ammo to achieve better result. So for pcp airgun i suppose this comes into play. Most .25 pcp outhere output 900 fps. So you need to set moa quite a bit to zero 100 yard and you still won't get a good grouping…. With my 308 win, shooting 100 yards is like shooting 5 yards with a pcp rifle,.. a 168 grain 308win bullet travel so fast that it hits the 100 yards target instantly. So you get a grouping almost the size of a the bullet it self… don't get me wrong though,, i love pcp shooting, it is cheaper to shoot pellets than centerfire, but they need to figure how to increase fps on those pcp.. i say 1200-1300 fps is the minimum for zeroing a 100 yard target. The reason i was watching your video is because im still looking for the best value pcp rifle capable of 100 yards plinking better than my 22 lr
What should we expect from the Air Venturi Avenger? I have experience with five different Avengers in .22. One had a POI change that was erratic and unpredictable. Nothing seemed to work to correct the problem. The group would unpredictably jump three inches to the left but without changing the scope setting and after several shots the group would shift to the original POI. Strange behavior that I could not correct. Another of the five had a barrel that shot so low and right that I did not have enough scope adjustment. Scope shimming was not an option due to stressing the scope tube. Numbers three, four and five had regulator leaks. Those Avengers were the new baffle models that leaked 200 PSI in seven minutes and increased to 600 and 800 PSI over night. Is there a manufacturer’s defect in the new baffle models? Since the Avengers are a budget model and defects should be expected however all five in my experience were beyond tolerable defects. My air rifles and supplies are bought from Pyramyd Air and have not experienced the Avenger problems with other Chinese air rifles. The Gauntlet is a prime example. The Avenger baffle models were accurate on the bench but very unpredictable on the regulator while hunting. Even with all the problems, I am looking for an Avenger .22 that works with tolerable defects. The Avenger sounds like a good hunter.
you were using crap ammo that was undersized or oversized for your horrid accuracy as for the other rifles i cant say.. well my .25 has never had an issue and its been nearly 2 years. i shoot this baby almost every day, including all winter
Rick thanks for the great video and information! I think I would call Tyler Patner (Pyramid Air) and get a replacement Avenger. Regulator stuck at 2200 PSI doesn't sound good. Since you were talking scopes do you think an Element Helix for $400 would that be enough scope? Thanks
The reg is not stuck. I can take it to 2900 psi no problem, it just did not yield any more power. I got valve lock, I.e. need more hammer spring. Cheers AGW

Couple of questions to get more out of the Avenger I believe drilling out the Barrel Port a little bit would be better than adjusting a bigger spring also the other question do you find it that everytime you filled a gun up with air the aiming Point changes is that common and most guns have to recite every time you fill up
I’ve used both. They each have their strengths. One is made in China and one is made in the UK. That’s a big difference there. The omega charger is certainly a good option to consider. Not the only option. If you are looking to fill larger bottles the omega is the better choice. Cheers AGW
Idk if I got lucky or just haven't shot it enough but after about 150 shots I'm still getting 53 ft/lbs with fx hybrids and 55-56 with king heavies with my .25 Avenger. My reg came maxed out as well so I just played with the hs to find the most efficient setting. I found that to be at exactly 4 turns in from all the way out. My hs goes 5.5 turns but I actually lost power at anything past 4 1/4. Hs maxed out at 5.5 gave me only 48-49 ft/lbs.
Heavier pellets do better in the wind. I went with the 22 because I already have a 25 impact. I wanted something I could shoot cheap Walmart pellets with. I just love to plink. 22 cal also has a large range of pellet weights to choose from. .. it’s fun to test with. Now that said ... I’ll still be buying one in 25 cal eventually LOL
Hi Rick. Considering you have had both in your hands, I am curious as to what is, in your opinion, the best buy between a Hatsan bullboss .25 and the Avenger .25? Both can be considered high value-for-the-buck entry-level PCPs and I want to join the PCP community which got me looking at those two. What I am really interested in is you take from not the accuracy or power level, but from the overal quality of the build, replaceability of parts and ultimately the expected lifespan of the rifle. One is Turkish, one is I believe Chinese with US quality control... My experiences with my sons RC cars which have excellent reviews and are of Chinese making is that on first sight the quality is fine...but things go south real fast when put to the test...and in the end you spend more time and money fixing stuff that should not have broken in the first place... the devil is in the details. For PCPs that would be quality of the screws used, how they are put in (glued stuck so they break when you need to take one out), quality of the o-rings, easy replacement of parts (e.g. the regulator air chamber or whatever I need to call it on the Avenger seems like a very custom built and so when defect can only be replaced with a part from Air Venturi, which you'll see, in 5 years no-one can provide)... So I hope I got the point of my question across...I am asking YOUR personal opinion...other experts may disagree...up to ppl like me to choose who to listen to :-) Hope you can shed some light on this. Thanks for your awesome videos, keep up the good work!
I bought this gun and ran into something I can't explain. I sighted in the gun at a temperature of about 60F and could put pellet inside of pellet at just 25 yards. Thinking I had everything in order to go hunting I went hunting in about 32F temperature and found the gun was shooting about 5 in. low I resighted the gun in and again pellet after pellet in almost the same hole at 25 yards. Is this normal behavior for PCP guns or am I doing something wrong?
It may be your scope and not the gun. My scope shifts POI when temp drops to 32 degrees or below. My situation is almost identical in that I bring the gun outside from 68 degree indoor temperature to shoot off my deck. I’m in New England so temp outside is 32. The 1st 10 to 15 minutes the gun is perfect, then my POI starts changing. I asked some experts that shoot powder burners (gun not effected by cold temps). They said it’s common for scopes to shift due to cold temps. One Hunter actually had cold weather settings for his scope - as the shift was consistent on his scope.
