Her story of faith is really inspiring. From a non believer to a woman of such strong faith, it has truly contributed to the growth of Christianity. What St. Peter and Paul and other apostles started, she completed it.
It's not that, "she completed it", but that she continued and reignited it. For it continues even to today.
What an amazing woman- to achieve so much and who is still remembered and honoured today. The first pilgrim to the Holy Land. Of all the great women the world has known, Helena is surely the greatest.
After the Holy Blessed Theotokos who is more honourable than the Cherubim incomparably more glorious than the Seraphim, Saint Helena is also one of the greatest women in history

St. Helena is one of my favorite saints. Instrumental in the upbringing of her son and his love for his mother opened his mind and heart to her faith. The miracle at Milviun Bridge was the turning point for the beginning of his conversion.

This documentary doesn’t make justice to how Saint Helena must have taught her son about the Faith as he was growing up as a child. He probably wasn’t a full blown Christian like his mother, but he must have known plenty about Christianity

My mother had a relic of the True Cross, it's six small splinters formed in a cross, double contained, in a small monstrance surrounded by jewels. She lent it to a friend. If only I could have been by Helena's side. What wonders to behold at a time when tourism had not taken over. It was hard not to cry thinking of Christ's sacrifice. Christ is Lord and "Holy, Holy, Holy" is his name.

St Helena is my Patron Saint. The Romans, after the crucifixion and death of Our Lord, had put up a pagan temple over the site of Calvary, in order to discourage the early Christians from congregating at the site. This was known to the Roman Emperors through the years, including St Helena’s husband and her son, St Constantine.

The Catholic Church has always taught that our Faith is not based on scripture alone - sola scriptura - as Protestants believe - but on Faith and Tradition. This is how our Faith has always been transmitted from generation to generation. Also, when you read about any of the saints there is historical evidence and documentation to support who they were and what they did. Such is the case with St. Helena and her son Constantine who converted the world to Christianity in his age. In history, St Helena is credited for founding many of the Holy Churches in the Holy Land, in Constantinople, and in Rome where she founded St John Lateran's and St Peter's Basilica's. So her legacy has produced many tangible, measurable, and so far lasting fruits.

Let’s not forget that Lady Helena did not explore the Holy Lands until 300 years after the death of Christ. Even the Jewish faithful wasn’t one hundred percent sure where these objects of veneration were located and mostly it was a guessing game

She wasn't the first pilgrim to the holy land. The pilgrimages started much earlier 100 a.d. to 150 a.d.
and persecution for it followed. By 325 a.d. half the Roman empire was Christian.

The writings of the apostolic fathers and the early church fathers show how fast the chuch was growing and the persecutions they endured. Read the letters of Ignatius of Antiock.
He wrote 7 letters on the way to Rome to be fed to the lions.
In his letters, is the earliest documentation of the term Catholic being used. It was being used in a general manner which lets you know that it was already commonplace. Completely supports the 2000 year tradition of the Catholic church, and the fact that it is the true church of our Lord Jesus Christ!

What evidence, one way or the other is there, other than his word, that he saw the Ark of the Covenant? He didn't produce it so it really makes no difference, other than labeling him a liar, which serves no one. Personally, I doubt if he did but, I'll leave that judgment to God. Obviously, if it is found, it will be at a time of God's choosing and, if he did find it, it was not the time that God chose to have it revealed.

Helena was doing what she was taught, but building churches does not bring about forgiveness of sins. The only thing that brings forgiveness is a personal relationship with Jesus, and being indwelled with the Holy Spirit who empowers us to repent and turn from sin. I believe Helena was a true Christian. I'm not so sure about her son.

According to holy tradition it was a monk who told her to make bond fire and was to put incense in it, as the smoke rose the smoke ascended and then descended to the spot where the cross was unearthed. The Ethiopian orthodox church speaks of this tradition research it. I'm not ill speaking the documentary but it seems to be a different story.
