Hobawea I was getting nostalgic to hear this beautiful stand out song again, and I saw your comment. It brings back memories of when I met you, & I’m so happy that you were able to come back! Keep singing lovely one, you have a gift, one of many. I am blessed to know you.
Am Moved. 😭 That pause, after singing stops & before applause starts... clear sign that the audience was also moved & entranced. Pure EXCELLENCE! Thank You All!
Avi's songwriting is graceful and deep. The melody of this piece is beautiful. The arrangement they did is stunning and these kids performed it with so much passion. Just what I needed today, thank you!
I first heard this stunningly beautiful song at ACA during this performance. The kids sounded angelic. The song itself has such a powerful message of strength and tenacity, of perseverance and hope. Avi's songwriting just hits me right in the heart. Thank you for recording this and sharing it!
Absolutely breathtaking! The passion these young people sing with is reflected in not only their voices but their faces as well. You not only hear but also see how much they love what they are doing. What a great compliment to Avi. 💖💖💖

The silence after the song ends says it all. This is just stunning. Thank you ACA chorus. Thank you Avi. Thank you Ben, and thank you to all who were involved in this gorgeous performance. Correction-it is Rob directing the chorus.
Thanks Alma! I saw Ben directing (I think!) and assumed he had been the collaborater. I’ve never been clear on Rob’s role since I don’t know him as well as I do Ben.
@@jeancaldwell5391 That is actually Rob directing. He was one of the behind the scenes guys on the Sing Off just like Ben. The 3 of them have been friends forever. Rob is co-founder of ACA with Avi and Ben, teaches other A capella workshops and camps, has a great podcast. Rob is a great beatboxer and he and Avi taught the bass and beatboxer in Citizen Queen. They work with the basses and vocal percussionists in A CaPop Kids. Rob Dietz arranged this, Avi wrote it, and the two of them worked with the choir on this presentation. Rob is amazing, he is just behind the scenes so people don't know. Ben is with PTX most of the time.
@@marciafrazza2985 And a very Merry Christmas to you!! 🤗🤗 I am a huge fan and supporter of Avi and A Capella Academy The work they do is so amazing and the people they work with are stellar. this is the definition of beauty. the song is a masterpiece as all of avi’s are, and the choir sounds incredible singing it, in addition to the amount of love you can feel between everyone. thank you for uploading this. love love love
The girl in black taking the hand of the guy next to her, the girl at the right hand end of the third row back laying her head on her friend’s arm, the beautiful short haired girl in blue at the far left hand side wiping away a tear - so much emotion coursing through these singers..
This is what I wish I could've been a part of in academy, it's genuinely saddening that it's gonna be a while before I can sing in a choir again. What an incredibly moving piece of music❤️
The beauty of Avi's writing and the choir's soul really knows how to hit you right in the heart. Singing this with you all was a true blessing.

The bass section is so strong, and the bass line is so interesting. I'm definitely not surprised 😂

LYRICS
Planted deep down in my soul
I could feel the roots take hold
Through the years I watched it grow
From the earth I dug and the seed I sow
Let the heavens fall and the fire rain down
I swear that I will hold my ground
Let the oceans try and wash me out
I swear that I will hold my ground
I swear that I will hold my ground
Before I saw the light of day
I was ploughing deeper than (inaudible)
But I broke my way through (inaudible)
To feel the sunlight on my face
Let the heavens fall and the fire rain down
I swear that I will hold my ground
Let the ocean try and wash me out
I swear that I will hold my ground
I swear that I will hold my ground
Rising up into the blue
I felt my heart would break in two
When the thunder rolled the storm came through
That I was slayed but my roots stayed true
To the earth I dug and and the seed I grew
Let the heavens fall and the fire rain down
I swear that I will hold my ground
Let the ocean try and wash me out
I swear that I will hold my ground
I swear that I will hold my ground
Sorry that I couldnt get some parts. Please reply if you do know it :)
Thank you So much 🌿
I think it is when the thunder rolled and the storm came through.
Instead of the line you have with the sword
See if that is what you hear.
Planted deep down in my soul
I could feel the roots take hold
Through the years I watched it grow
From the earth I dug and the seed I sow
Let the heavens fall and the fire rain down
I swear that I will hold my ground
Let the oceans try and wash me out
I swear that I will hold my ground
I swear that I will hold my ground
Before I saw the light of day
I was buried deeper than a grave
But I broke my way through rock and clay
To feel the sunlight on my face
Let the heavens fall and the fire rain down
I swear that I will hold my ground
Let the oceans try and wash me out
I swear that I will hold my ground
I swear that I will hold my ground
Rising up into the blue
I thought my heart would break in two
When the thunder rolled and the storm came through
Yeah I was swayed but my roots stayed true
To the earth I dug and and the seed I grew
Let the heavens fall and the fire rain down
I swear that I will hold my ground
Let the oceans try and wash me out
I swear that I will hold my ground
I swear that I will hold my ground

How many voice parts is it arranged for?
Beautiful. Only critique is the sopranos were slightly flat on 'ground' 3:10-3:11. My choir is performing this and it is tricky for memorization.
