I hope you will be pleased to know that America's first prima ballerina was Maria Tallchief, an Osage Indian of Oklahoma. I worked for her for a day in Chicago. Exquisite dancer. Film director Martin Scorsese is shooting a film now called Killers of the Flower Moon about the oil- rich Osage Tribe's swindling by greedy people. There is also a great 1931 film available at some libraries and on Amazon called Cimarron which includes the Osage Indians. Based on book by American author Edna Ferber. I really enjoyed the film, especially seeing the forest of oil wells. It gave me a clearer image of what it must have been like for the Osage Tribe when the land they purchased was blessed by God to cause the oil well gushers. God did not forget them after having to leave their land several times. Maria Tallchief was like a phoenix risen from the ashes as she achieved great honor for our country after her birth in 1925, which was during the outrage of murders to her people.
My favorite book about this great dancer is a children's book beautifully illustrated and would be a joy to share w the young ones in your family. Its title is Maria Tallchief and was written by her. You can probably find it in your library. If not, you can request they purchase it about this great Oklahoman.

Very enlightening story. Nice tie-in with Eisenhower. Yesterday I heard, for the 1st time, Eisenhower's farewell speech from January 1961. That was very enlightening! What he warned about in that speech has happened.

I know that the forward pass was not legal in American football until 1906. The game was so brutal that in 1905 nineteen players had been killed and over one hundred were injured severely. It was about to be banned ,but instead the game was revised with new rules , most notably , the legalization of the forward pass..Before that football was more like rugby..

One thing I hope comes from all of this social turmoil is the dethroning of professional and college sports..... The pendulum swung way too far in that direction.... people literally WORSHIPPED athletes because they could run, jump or catch a ball....not only that they believed anything they said even on subjects they had no knowledge of. Are you listening LeBron??

    • @bwasman8409

I agree with Mac…they have created their own demise, like the acting profession, by becoming world authorities by virtue of their craft…athletes and those who live in a fantacy world of acting.

I am really majorly excited about Larry Elder running for governor of California!!! I live in Oklahoma & I have been alarmed about damage in California for decades. Larry Elder is the number one man out of decades & millions of ppl to straighten up California. This is important to all of the U.S. because California is a drag down on the U.S. plus the treatment & exploitation of California citizens is unacceptable. LARRY ELDER IS THE NUMBER ONE MAN TO RESTORE CALIFORNIA TO STABILITY. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Another contribution (by Native Americans) to the entire planet .... is the word "ok". It is derived from a little CHOCTAW word "hoke" that put on different clothes & traveled all over the planet. Ok is the number one spoken common word on the planet.
Andrew Jackson was at the meeting place at Dancing Rabbit Creek where the U.S. military was conning part of Choctaws in the Mississippi area to move to Oklahoma. Jackson didn't speak Choctaw so he listened to the interpreters & responses from the Choctaws. If Choctaws agreed, they would say "hoke" to indicate something was acceptable. After that he use the word hoke frequently.
On one day he was dictating to a secretary & said the word hoke. The secretary didn't know how to spell hoke, so she spelled it as "ok". After that the usage of the word hoke aka ok... spread like wildfire all over the planet without anyone knowing they are speaking Choctaw.
This is how the little Choctaw word put on different clothes & traveled all over the planet. There is a big ongoing argument about the origin of "ok". This version was written by a deceased Choctaw elder named Charlie Jones who was a historian & former council member. I favor this version as the true version for the origin.
Another Choctaw word common to the planet, is Oklahoma. Okla means man & homa means red.

That's a stretch. Too many domino's. To be connected logically, there must be cause and effect links connecting every event. The problem is Football was popular anyway, in fact, Football was popular before these Oklahoma Indians ever heard about Football. if these Oklahoma Indians had not played Football, we still would have the NFL.
