I'm running the same manifold and turbo, with 5915 injectors, and some added duration. Pulls like a train.

The S4oo turbo needs a boost in fuel on a tune I'm guessing that's 500hp series 60. K31 turbo would have been the perfect pick for stock 500hp Detroit, but if boss man will go ahead and have it tuned to increase the hp's that turbo will wake right up, plus I'm betting that cracked up boot isn't helping either.. S400 turbo is for a horse power rating engine that a stock 12.7.. Good luck with the truck appreciate your videos

Great video. Turn the fuel up a little. If that doesn't work, need bigger injectors. Had a friend with a w900 with the same engine. That's what he did.

I’m running that manifold and turbo on my ddec4. Had it tuned and it spools better than the stock turbo did set at 500hp

I'd renew that oil feed pipe & pressure test the charge cooler but suspect you're right .. needs more fuel .. great video .. check that aux belt - edge fraying ?? .. I bet the boss man loves you doing all these jobs .. stay safe.

Thanks Julian, belt has been frayed since I replaced the tensioner, gotta a spare under the bunk just in case , try to get the hood out of that one, not sure what boss wants to do? Swap back to factory turbo or do a tune. I’d do the factory turbo and save the turbo for one of our cats, being that it is the same one they use

A S500 would be better if your looking to make 750-800hp with higher flowing injectors, other then that Detroit series 60 is a grate motor i have a 14L Detroit with the egr turbo setup which i plan to change to a 171702 turbo

How did you do your turbo studs I'm using the same manifold and I'm confused by the stud installation

Studs should just screw out of the manifold, they are threaded on both sides with a small non threaded space in the middle to tighten up

I'd loooove to upgrade my exhaust manifold on y 12.7 but I'm founding it hard to find a upgrade that will line up with the air cleaner. I upgraded to a 171702 but wasn't a real noticable difference. I'm set at 430/470 hp 1550 torque. Would love 550hp 1700 torque.

You need to wake that puppy up! that turbo isn't going to show you much on those Hp numbers! You need 500+ to wake up a 171702 just don't over do it they hold 600 hp but get pretty thirsty when you in the throttle!

​​@@tyflesh i have a detroit ddec 6 with a fresh inframe. From the factory its rated at 515 hp if i go with the 171702 & a 550hp tune & 1650 on the torque or a 600hp tune & 1750 on the torque will i have to upgrade injectors & camshaft or i could run my stock injectors and cam and it'll be fine
