I think you should add interior parallax mapping to house windows and skyscrapers, that would make the world feel more lived in.

That's so true, I remember when I couldn't speak english and that I had to collaborate with an Australian guy for a project on great white shark and saltwater crocodile interactions or something like that
I'm damn salty about it myself. This guy finds people to work with and succeeds without even speaking the same language, and I can't get so much as a "Nice job" when I post about my game.

This is NOT the ground up 😅😅😅 the vast majority of the was imported from what was already done. The whole map layout. The characters and their animations. Physics. And A LOT more.

The only thing that was imported was the premise, it's a fan remake of a game that this creator liked a lot as a kid.

Unfortunately its not that simple. Video game IP's usually belong to studios and/or corporations and/or parent companys that buy them and get lost in mergers and often are too expensive and legally complicated to remaster to re-release.

I like the shades being drawn for most houses, for the Simpson house is so iconic that I feel like you need to be able to see inside at least a little. Seeing inside to the living room, with the couch and TV, would be awesome.

I was one of the people critical of the old, realistic skybox. This new one just feels right. Awesome job man keep up the great work. This has become one of my favorite TH-cam series.
For the spawned cameras at the dialog phase, remember the 180 degree rule in cinema. You must have the camera on the same side shoulder as they interact. Right now you have one camera on each side which makes it look like they're not looking at eachother. Common beginner filmmaking mistake.
Anyways Great job. It took Too long for this episode to come out, crank out more stuff. This is the best TH-cam has to offer.
Or have the camera pivot, would that fix the error? I'm no film guy, but that's what I was fantasizing about while watching this XD
@@tomchuur6431 Right, so if the camera is sitting on Marge shoulder and pivot 180 over to Homer you've got the correct angle of view. Preferly behind the shoulder so you can barely see the mouth movement (In film you want to be able to edit in dialog there that doesn't match the frame but wont be notice)
Irrelevnat to the game, but: What about if the speaker(s) were talking through a telephone? Would you keep the camera on different shoulders to emphasis the different locations the speakers are at?

He's got a job and is doing this in his free time. It takes a lot of work to do this, not to mention the extra language barrier he now has to work with from here on out. It's fine to be passionate about this, but don't ask more of him than is reasonable.

If the subjects were talking on the telephone you want to do it very different than the 180 degree rule. You want to emphasize the different locations, perhaps one guy sitting in a car while the other is baking bread in the kitchen, the more opposite the better to disconnect the scenes.
Love that the language barrier didn't stop the collaboration. Everything looks great. Even the simple change with the fences changes and improves so much.
It's a crying shame this could never be publicly released, and I fully understand why. I hope this is the start if sonething bigger long term. It'd be good to see you transition away from The Simpsons to your own thing. Where you can profit from this hard work.

She's really nailed the Simpsons aesthetic, absolutely perfect. It feels more like the Simpsons than the original game.
Just some observations:
- Homer looks to be lit a little too brightly
- Curtains of the Simpsons' house look different from the exterior vs interior
- Get some more tree models to randomise the sidewalks a little?
- Texture on the right side roof of the Flanders house appears to be rotated 90 degrees.

Idk why but i domt rlly like the cartoony way of the fence it should be more woody idk everything is so bright. I like a little bit of the old colour cos i would feel that is more in real life.

@@raoulv The other project is made by El Gato Del Tejado on TH-cam. They're actually learning Matt Groening's style to entirely draw and animate each cutscenes in The Simpsons' animation style. Absolute gigachad move.

@@carlosrodriguez-di3bs basically says don't jump the camera to another place in the scene farther than 180° away. Always stay on the same side of the characters when cutting to make it look more natural.
Great tip
This is great! One little note when it comes to the cinematic camera angles though! When films or TV usually film dialogue scenes between two people, each one is given one side of the shot. By that, what I mean is that because the first camera angle on Marge has her on the left of the shot, the next camera angle with homer should have him on the right (i.e. as though the camera hasn't moved from its original position but has instead panned over.) That's because it's supposed to be observational, as though you are watching the shot take place. Because in your version the camera kind of jumps to the other side of Homer and he's on the right of the shot (the same side that Marge is on) which makes it a bit jarring. I hope that makes sense, I am bad at explaining things.
100% agree. Breaking the 180 degree rule is definitely key to avoid. The rest was awesome though.

Fully agree - its called the 180 rule. Simple concept, but difficult to explain without a diagram. He should definitely look into it as it is probably the most basic and vital thing to make normal looking cinematics.
The graphic update also is more inline with the animated style of The Simpsons. Excellent work from the artist and yourself

The last like 2 weeks I've been checking for a new video and I'm so glad it's progressing in a way you're happy with.
It kinda pains me that I'll never get to play this, but on a real - it's awesome to see the progress, definitely massive improvements every episode.
When he is completely finished and totally done of the series and working on it, I do hope he "leaks" it out or something such as that. Perhaps even through a Patreon or something, though I wonder if he can't because of copyrights or something. But, if they ever can, it would be nice.

Absolutely, sadly this won't be released ever and only has Footage showable. Wich is sad and would take interest away, from anyone who would like to help. If I was able to help him, I probably wouldn't, simply because it will never be released.

This *feels* like the Simpsons now. I'm sure there's more work to be done on the visuals, but overall the direction is incredible. All the work on design and coding you've done is obvious really impactful, but it feels right to have a visual style to do it justice.

Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc. Have a blessed day!
For anyone wondering, there is a remaster MOD that is in the works, so that will be available to download
Looks great. One thing is that the cinematic cameras are on different planes of action. So Marge is looking left to right at Homer (street background), and when the camera flips to Homer, he's also looking left to right (House Background). He should be looking right to left, with the street in the background.
To add to that, this is also called the "180 degree rule" in film making.
Basically, imagine a straight line that goes through Homer and Marge. Choose only one side of line that your camera can freely move around in. This helps the audience understand that Homer is indeed talking to Marge because the cut isnt suddenly flipping around.
I think it would be nice if you could make the camera do an "over-the-shoulder shot"; i.e. a shot that at least sees the shoulder of the person being talked to (like the sequence from the original game).
Just finished watching, awesome stuff man :) only note I have is the camera for the cut scene you added "crosses the line" meaning when the camera is on Marge it's placed to her right shoulder, but when it's on Homer the camera jumps over to the left side of marges shoulder. If you can make sure the camera never crosses the line :) helps our brains track the scene better lol

It really makes you appreciate the strides that have been made in digital art the last 20 years when you see the steps like this. When remade games like Crash Bandicoot comes out it often looks like the old one because the artists did a great job at reproducing a certain vibe/feeling. It's the same feeling I get here, though the new and old don't really look alike anymore. Also your dialogue system seems really simple, great way to show it off

Unfortunately it's controlled by big corporations like Fox and Activision Blizzard and in fact with some of these old games it's not even clear who owns the copyright so they just ignore them cause it's not worth the legal hassle for them.

This looks amazing, I’m glad you’ve strayed from the original a bit and went with your own art direction, it’s a huge improvement. It’s a shame I’ll never get to play it, but it’s a pleasure just seeing it
text on main menu should be much larger, it is the entire point of the screen, also a super neat feature is to tie the angle of your drop shadows for text to the time of day cycle.
This game needs to be remade, and Korylon needs to be paid to help with this. amazing art work, keeps the nostalgic feel and also makes the game look great.

An effective way to improve flat textures is to download an outliner plug in which puts an outline around an object and makes a flat texture pop. I use this in my low poly game to improve everything along with post processing on lighting.
This looks so much better, the old graphics weren't bad by any means, but looked like every other unreal remake. Now they have a very distinct look and the whole thing just looks and feels more premium
I would LOVE to see a remake of LEGO Island. That game is such a huge source of nostalgia for me.

Developmental cheap ideas that would have high impact (I think):
Living Room Scene (some programming for you)
- Put some animated (perlin noise-driven) on the TV light brightness and clamp the values between 0.5 and 0.8 (don't let it go off completely)
- Put some animated 2D (perlin noise-driven) texture on the TV screen (maybe even use a simple shader or a simple looping animated texture with 5 frames of perlin noise)
- Reduce the indoor shadow intensity a bit.. (or give the shadows a bit more ambient light intensity)
House model (for Korylon)
- I've noticed that the window curtains are the things doing the reflection.. it would look way better if there was an actual 100% translucent quad with the screenspace reflection on it AND behind that, an extra quad with the curtain texture (and also an inner edge of the window sill (and other required parts to separate the window with the reflection from the curtains)
Other than that, it looks absolutely awesome :)

Be awesome if you can add the easter egg where the menu changes based off holidays like back on ps2 if the date was oct 31st and you loaded the game, the main menu would change into a halloween theme

I found you remaking this game from a friend. I was amazed that someone spent time to make the game look like a modern title. You should be so proud of yourself.
I really do hope that the original dev team sees this and realises that the community wants this to be playable. I want you to be able to have the credit you deserve for remaking such an iconic game and doing such a great job of it! Lets all have our fingers crossed that they allow you to either release the game off your own back or collaborate with you to re-release this game because I know I will happily buy it again and enjoy every second of playing it as i'm sure so many others will too!

The art is phenomenal. I understand that it was just a work in progress before, but there was a lot of little things that needed to be tweaked and I'm glad you addressed them. The game truly does look like a remaster of the original game and I'd gladly pay for it. Might be worth contacting the publisher of the original game to see if they're interested in purchasing the work you've done so far or at least if they'd allow you to distribute your fan remake.

Hey buddy! A suggestion for the cutscenes is to have the characters look like they're talking to each other. (Right now they both face right)
If you can, change it to where one faces right and one faces left. (Marge looks right, while Homer looks left, for example).
This minor change will help the cinematics look better. (This in filmmaking is called jumping the line/ 180 degree rule)

Revelation has been unfolding since Jesus died. The Popes have claimed to be equal to God and set themselves in Jesus' place (antichrist(s)). Vatican City (Which is its own nation BTW) have risen up to fulfill the role of the false prophet
Regarding the man of lawlessness or antichrist, 2 Thessalonians 2:4 says “Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” The restrainer that the Apostle Paul was referring to in 2 Thessalonians was the Western Roman Emperor, who held back the Popes from taking power. Once the last Western Roman Emperor was removed from power in 476 AD, the Pope was given civil and ecclesiastic authority over Rome; healing the deadly head wound of the beast in Revelation 13, as they took the Emperors title of Pontifex Maximus, leader of the church and state.

This is a wonderful birthday present~! Love the work you guys are putting into this, which was one of my favorite games. It came out around the time I was actually getting into video games (I was a late bloomer) and Simpsons was a huge part of my childhood, I never got to play GTA (parents said it was too violent, ironically) and this was my own taste of it. I cherished it immensely and it's wonderful to see it again.

The new textures feel a bit too cold compared to the older ones; The quality is absolutely fine, it's just the temperature.
During the comparison shot in 9:37 it's most noticable - The original game had a (perhaps dull) orange-ish tint on the whole game, making it feel like it was actual sunlight in a way, and making things blend in more naturally, whereas the new textures now just seem way too blue.
Note, this may be a lighting issue more than a texture issue, but it does stray away a bit from the original feel of the game.

Love the work you've been doing, but careful with cinematics when characters are talking, you should look for camera and filming rules in the future. There for example two characters shouldn't look to the same direction when the camera changes position, it can confuse the viewer, there you should apply what's known as "180-degree rule" or "jumping the line". Btw, keep the good work!
It definitely looks better but its still got some glaring issues:
- The saturation is wayy too high. Even for a cartoon those colors are assault on the eyes
- The detail isn't chunky enough. Look back and forth at 3:15 and 3:35. The new one looks "newer" but the old one is easier for your brain to parse because of lines in the stones and big bricks on the buildling are rough edges on the driveway. The new one has too many solid paintbuckets of color.
- It's inconsistant. The problem with committing to high-res textures and replacing some of the models is that it makes the old ones more obvious and crappy-looking. The subtle tufts of grass look nice but highlight how little detail there is on everything else.
Like I said tho, I think this is definitly the right direction and very impressed with Korylon's work (and with y'alls ability to communicate across a language barrier that's pretty awesome!)
I didn't hate the old style, but damn a good shader really makes a world of difference.
Developers, hire this cool dude and make a full-fledged remake!
