Last night me and my wife attended our third Newsboys concert in Erie Pennsylvania. Duncan, we both really enjoy watching your spinning drum riser part of each concert, it always amazes me how you're able to keep playing while you're being spun. Thanks for this video, giving us a tour of your drum riser, most importantly thanks to your group for your music which always gives me encouragement in my walk with our Lord Jesus. God Bless you Newsboys ❤✝️
My first rock concert ever was back in 93'. I saw the Newsboys open up for PETRA. This guy did his drum solo while spinning it was pretty awesome for my first show. I had only seen Tommy Lee on his videos on a riser. I did see joey with the knot years and many shows later live, but this guy was my first experience to see a drum riser.
Omg! Thank you so much!!!!! I have been waiting for this video for 2 years. I loved this band since I was 3 and now 14 years later I don't really care for the type of poppy music they do now but I still love the guys in the band and Duncan will always be my fav drummer no matter what. Thanks DTB!!!
as a fellow drummer, duncan is one of the best I've ever seen. you can tell he was definitely inspired by Jon bonham from Zepplin. I see heavy influences of Bonham
Those frosted EC2’s are awesome. For me the coated didn’t have enough punch and clear wasn’t warm enough the frosted are perfect it’s a balance of both. I have a Gretsch with a 18” kick and it’s just like he says.
have helped put that rig several times over the years in the festival world. duncan is one of the best and even after all these years i have no idea how he does it AND i have never seen the rig malfunction!. the boy is in shape and he HAS to be!!.
Dude... we have the exact same brand preferences when it comes to drums. Paiste cymbals are my favorite but I don't have the money for signature models and I often find myself buying Sabian or Zildjian if I really like the sound. Evans are just the best hands down, same with Promark. And then when it comes to drums, DW is awesome, probably my favorite, but I use a lot of Yamaha as well and they make solid stuff too.
I really appreciate that you guys cover bands from different genres, regardless of their beliefs! A lot of people would shy away from advertising religious groups but since this is entirely about gear, I suppose there would be no real problem haha
I'm not sure who he is referencing exactly, but Tommy Lee would definitely make sense. Not sure if he'd be referencing Joey Jordison though, although I don't know exactly when he started doing the spinning drum riser.
Digital Tour Bus I absolutely love the newsboys, I've seen them 4 times and fortunately met the guys once. Duncan is a huge influence to me. I'm a drummer myself and would love to be at the level that he is at. Off topic, you guys should try to interview Ray Luzier of KoRn!!!
Not making fun but I've seen where during a small break or something Duncan would take a small drink of water. Me if I was to do this drumming but no spinning or raise it up they would have to fix me some type of a bucket and hose so I could pee. I cannot drink anything without in 5 min me going to the bathroom I guess touring out of the question for me. Because I do or use to drum hoping to get another set soon but anyway I love the gear run down I love watching vids like these educational.
“If you haven’t got the songs, what are you gonna do?” Gee, I don’t know. Maybe write some fucking songs instead on depending on theatrics. Am I missing something here?
@@jonathanmosebach2921 Worked a show for a concert promoter, a couple of years back now. Attempted to say hi to Duncan, and got "Man cant you see I'm working"? Seems like a quality guy... It was very interesting to hear him elaborate on the smaller kick drum and the shallow toms. Thanks! ✌🏻️🇺🇸
He's a good guy!
He’s mistaken, the bass drum in the video is a 20x18. He uses a second bass drum that’s an 18 on his right
@@digitaltourbus holy nuts do i see blood spots on that floor tom on the end?

What promark stick does he use?
Did he not say in the video? If it's not in the video, unfortunately, I'm not sure.
Promark 5B Naturals
I actually have a signed pair of sticks from him and that's what they are. Just so happens those are the sticks i use too lol.
Josh VanAtta same😂
Who would win?
A trillion tilt-a-whirls
A drummer boi
How does he mic his bass drum?
If it's not in the video, I unfortunately don't know, sorry!
Sam Kauffman. I think it's internally micd
Better question, does he use his second kick drum?
You get to the middle of an arena tour and start questioning what you’re doing with your life…sure I totally know that feeling
