  • Awesome Engine just a tad overpriced.

I have never had a problem with Atlas handrails.

That is good I have had so many issues with them in the past. Especially the side hand rails popping off. Both GP30s, GP35, SD35, SD24, and my GP38 all have the issue. Older releases for sure.

I have 2 of these, one runs ok (DCC equipped) one (with sound) runs like ass, sputters all over the track. Clean or dirty 10 inch section (not on the layout) 20 foot section. Anywhere anytime. Have yours done this?
I have switched the decoders with each other and it eliminates the sputtering but I loose the sound, I’m not sure if it’s the decoder, since it runs perfectly on the other but on the sound loco it still stuttered when I would turn off the sound.
They’ve both been running for an hour now with no issues with the switched decoders.

More than likely the decoder. I have had more than one loksound fail. However, sound uses more power than a standard dcc engine. Have you tried Atlas conducta lube? It really helps Atlas pickups and this is basically and atlas. Put a small dot on all the wheels where they touch the pickups and between the wheel pickups and frame wipers. It can have a big effect.

@@thenscalereviewer I haven’t tried the conducta lube, but everything else I have. I may just have to try a new decoder. I’ll give that lube a try. Thanks!
