Congrats to you and your contractors for getting it right! 100% agree with the carpeted stairs - our senior Westie has hardwood throughout and has to be carried up and down our stairs! Take him over to the neighbours - et voila, no problem up those stairs!
While the stove is to die for….. those butcher blocks are beautiful. I had originally oiled mine but while I love them I hated the upkeep and clear coated them
Love these videos man, my son and I who's only 1 and a half years old watches your videos with me before bed, it's so relaxing and awesome to see the american dream in motion!
WOW, guys the barndo already looks stunning, that massive black walnut island is absolutely gorgeous, love that stove and fridge, no expense sparred there. Kelsey I can as well, on my kitchen stove, that canning room, is the best idea I have ever seen, I would kill to have it, and that massive shelf for displaying all your hard work, is a thing of beauty, the water reaching all of your pots, so you don`t have to carry all of the monster pots of water to the stove like me, this was well thought out, and very impressive. I too would love to see this evolve into Kelsey`s canning videos of some sort, I do 50 qts of tomatoes each year, and 15 qts of hot peppers, and I love canning videos. I am Italian, and make huge pots of meat sauce, so the jazzed up Ragu was a little punch in the stomache, teehee, we all did it, we would love to see you canning in that perfect room, all the best from Michigan.
Thank you for your kind words! The Ragu was hard for me too 😂. I make my own spaghetti sauce as well but the Ragu is an every once in a while pleaser for Ryan's nostalgic palate. Lol.
The sounds of silence must be so nice at night while gazing into the moon lit skies... watching storms roll through would be awesome from the front porch
I've been following since day one of the build on here and Paul's channel. The house looks great. Just in case you haven't done it yet... a punch out list for each room will help keep you on task to get things "completely" finished. A few days can turn into a few weeks, months and even years before you know it. Anyway... Thanks for the update!!! Wishing you all the BEST!!!
My fiance and I have been following your channel for a few years now. We feel like we are always in sync with you guy's and your life. We just moved into a new home as well and wished we could of had a barndo but it wasn't in the cards. Glad you finally did a life update. Best lawn channel on TH-cam. Keep up the good work! It'll pay off in the end.
Water base polyurethane on the laundry room counter top might be a good option for what you are wanting. Water based tends to not yellow the wood as much as oil. Definitely try a test piece first though.
Everything is looking fantastic! It seams like there is never enough time to do what you want to the home, it's so nice to see the progress! Take care you two and don't work too hard!
Everything is looking great! I have been seeding / overseeing with RK Elite seed since I moved to my new home last year and it looks amazing. I’m so happy to support the business you two have built!
The house is looking very comfortable and great space in the kitchen and canning room. I don't remember if you've mentioned whether you have just the 1 septic tank or do you also have a grey water septic tank? We had both at our old house in Tallahassee and we thought it worked great. Cheers from this old retired coot living the dream in Tennessee.
LOVE the update!! You should look a Rubio Monocoat for the laundry butcher block. It’s an amazing finish I’ve used on almost all my projects. They have one that has a very very slight blueish tint that makes the wood look lighter and more natural vs orange!
House looks great Ryan. I love your guys stove and the butcher block counter top. I want a stove like that. Would be happy with that counter top as well. Look forward to the next video.
Unreal! U have such a talent for video making/storytelling. Enjoy every video u make. And yes would love to see more on Kelsey’s garden plans are her canning in future.
As a suggestion for a back splash in the kitchen you could use coloured glass panels that way it’s easy to clean and adds some colour also very hygienic.
Congratulations on achieving this major milestone. Everything looks amazing and livable. When you own a home, there are always opportunities for projects. The key is figuring out how to have fun with them. 😁✌️
Consider applying N3 Nano from Cam at blacktail studio on the butcher block over top of your finish. Cam uses it on all of his table builds and it’s essentially a ceramic coating that adds a level of durability. He has details on it in his TH-cam videos as well.
That canning kitchen is the coolest thing ever. Awesome setup, guys. Will be fun to see your home develop and grow. The podcast studio has a massive amount of potential. What an amazing home. We're actually considering going the barndo route in the not-too-distant future. We will likely incorporate a canning kitchen, now that you have inspired us. Following with excitement and anticipation.
Understand your frustration with the length of time it takes to build it the way you want it, but take the time to get it done right....then you can leave things as is for a few years. Since Kelsey is "vertically challenged", you should look into getting a Little Giant stepladder with the work tray; folds away nice and narrow, but will make it easier for her to reach those top shelves. Regarding the metal work shelving, we bought 2 and were able to turn it into a 3 section, 2 shelf unit (end pieces can be used in the middle)...if you don't need 3 shelves everywhere. Finally, if your relatives have campers, they could all visit at Thanksgiving, plug into your house, and help you make use of that Zline range!!! Enjoy.
I was going to ask about the garden, but I'm sure there are big plans for that too - and you can't do everything all at once, you guys have been busy, and the care you have put into everything shows
The garden will definitely be something that we develop over a few seasons but, even if it'll be off to a small start this year I have to get my hands in the dirt!
Wow! Congrats on the awesome appliances. So happy all your hard work on your land/home is paying off. Not sure about your future as 300 pound appliance installers.... Hopefully that was a one-off project.
So nice to see you guys again! Your home, all the appliances and finishes you selected are so classy looking. I especially love the blue cabinets and light wood countertop in the laundry room. 💙🤎 I’ve been through one home renovation about 90% complete prior to moving in and it seemed to take f.o.r.e.v.e.r. Not something I ever want to repeat; can’t imagine what it’s been like for you guys but I know the end result will be worth it to you. It’s looking stunning even at this stage.
Wow - that's a lot coming along great! So cool to see all that is already there - remembering the drawings in 3D from last year and now you're standing in the kitchen, the studio, the canning kitchen - how cool is that! So glad for you both! Love the details, the functionality - like the water above the stoves - smart! This home suites you so well - can't wait for the updates this year! -And looking forward to the lawncare now this season! :)
I am so happy for you both. Do not worry about it being "done" you have the rest of your life for that and we are always adding and changing and swapping this for that. It is just part of the whole experience. It is also totally fine not to do anything on it, it will be there when you get back
Do yourself a favor and use Woca Worktop Oil on all of your butcher block. Maintenance gel is great as well. Much better protection and very cleanable while maintaining the raw/warm look.
Keep embracing the chaos and living the dream! Everything is turning out awesome! Quick Q: Will you be finishing or trimming out the posts on either side of the kitchen island?
When you were putting the oil on the counter top OMG it is beautiful!! Making your vision into a reality what an amazing feeling that must be. Your home is absolutely gorgeous!! Congratulations!! Much love Tricia
Dude save that cardboard! If you're going to be starting garden beds it's so much easier to smother the weeds by laying down cardboard and then mulching with wood chips on top.
@@RyanKnorr Awesome! I did it for the first time last year and I'm never digging out sod again. The trick is to make sure each sheet overlaps at least a few inches so that there's no way the weeds can get through. A thick layer of mulch helps too.
We have the 48" stainless Zline range! Best thing we ever bought
YEahhhhhhh Alright!!!!!!!!!!!! Wooooo WHooooo Happy for you both you look relieved and happy!!!
Whewh! Glad you are in. Congratulations.
Congrats to you and your contractors for getting it right! 100% agree with the carpeted stairs - our senior Westie has hardwood throughout and has to be carried up and down our stairs! Take him over to the neighbours - et voila, no problem up those stairs!
Man, i love the camera work and narration. So chill to watch.

Beautiful home …. Lightning storm footage was beautiful as well.
She is flat out stunning!!
What kind of wood is your butcher block?
Thank you! The butcherblock is American Walnut
While the stove is to die for….. those butcher blocks are beautiful. I had originally oiled mine but while I love them I hated the upkeep and clear coated them
So glad another showing it looks amazing. Kelsey you are absolutely glowing

Love the OG green Tupperware colander!! Congrats on the progress!!
Ohhhhh you went with the Johnny Cash Edition!!!!!
5 years from now you’ll look back and say wow that was a lot.
YES. Love it all, thank you for updating us as often as you do!
The sounds of silence must be so nice at night while gazing into the moon lit skies... watching storms roll through would be awesome from the front porch
The sounds of silence and coyotes haha

The butcher block is beautiful! That is something the wife and I would like to have in our future, forever home.

Kind of has a Bridges of Madison County vibe....except for that ethernet cable that has been hanging from the porch ceiling foever. ;-)
Happy to support you guys in the business.

LOL
😂
Congratulations guys. I love it.
Ho Boy! Do I love to watch the évolution, thanks.
Wow! Congrats on the awesome appliances. So happy all your hard work on your land/home is paying off. Not sure about your future as 300 pound appliance installers.... Hopefully that was a one-off project.
The pizzazz yessss! Love mine !
God bless you, Ryan and Kelsey. Thanks for sharing the earthy splendour of your lives with us-it’s ever so inspiring!

Thanks for taking us alibg and being real about how this process has really happened. I can't wait to see what you two keep creating!
I was fine until Kelsey snapped that spaghetti. Now I'm on edge. 🤣
That stove is beautiful
Keep embracing the chaos and living the dream! Everything is turning out awesome!
Quick Q: Will you be finishing or trimming out the posts on either side of the kitchen island?
I was wondering the same. Hopefully trimming them out as there really isn't a good way to finish pressure treated posts like that.
Yep they'll be finished with something hopefully closer to matching the countertop in the future
Yes.
All these videos I’ve watched and Ryan has normally worn a hat. It was a strange sight seeing him at the kitchen table without one.
Rare moment 🙂
Spaghetti looking incredible 🎉
Looking good!
You two have got to try Rao's spaghetti sauce. it is THE best!
Loving the journey guys! Your views at night must be incredible.
As I’m in my mid 60’s and retired it’s so refreshing to see you 2 building a future. You put a smile on my face 😊
Y’all have done a beautiful job.😊. New subscriber.
Would love this channel to transition into canning/Kelsey's garden content during the summer 🤞p.s. the house looks amazing!
I'd like to see her garden too, so many grand possibilities!
Gardening and Canning could be a whole new income stream for both of you. Love it all! You two are a great couple.
Loving this content.
When you were putting the oil on the counter top OMG it is beautiful!! Making your vision into a reality what an amazing feeling that must be. Your home is absolutely gorgeous!! Congratulations!! Much love Tricia
You folks are doing gangbusters! Appreciate the update and what you're planning.
