You might consider a rotating cycle of berry rejuvenation about every 3-5 years. The stems start slowing production noticeably when they start bending, getting woodier and mixing with the bushes in the area. Your mower could help you much easier than a heavy pruning, by just “brush hogging” a given section down totally every few years. I think you’d ultimately see a better “product” with this process.
🎯On a gravel driveway your best to use a snowblower. You can adjust the back skin bar on snowblower and the feet so it can do gravel. skid-steer loaders are very hard to do gravel pavement is the best. Looks nice good job. 👍
Jus get a huge tank and put a gas station at ur own property and u can have them drive out there to fill your tank. Worth the investement on a homestead
Ryan, Edge Tamers from R2 Manufacturing for your bucket for no dig driveway snow removal. Works pretty good in our frozen field paths as well. Great video as always!
Ryan: I lived in a rural area for 30 years, and messing with gas cans, considering all the equipment and vehicles you have, is a hassle. I solved that problem by leasing a 500 gallon fuel tank from our local ag coop ($100/year) and had the fuel delivered whenever I needed it.. You can call for delivery with 48 hours notice. At times, it may cost you a few cents per gallon more than at the discount fuel station, but it's still worth it. That way you always have fuel on hand. You can set the tank next to your shop, as it will require 110V power, and run it off a standard outlet and switch inside the shop.
On Wednesday evening (3/1) we got a "heads up" from weather bug that we were going to be on a winter weather advisory most of Friday with 6-8" of wet heavy snow coming our way. By Thursday we weren't on anything as all of it went south of us. That's why we say here in west MI "If you don't like the weather here in MI, wait a minute, it will change". And that is what happened. We got nothing. I miss the old days where we got hammered with snow almost every day. I even got hubby a bigger snow blower to clear the driveway but the first year, he only had to blow the driveway a couple times and last year was 3 times. So far this winter he's had to use it twice. I think I wasted money on the new blower. Oh well...this IS west Michigan.
Beautiful, huge property - thankfully the Ryan/Kelsey workaholic team comprise the necessary attributes to persevere: patient and calm determination. The sweat comes automatically!
Just get a tank for the Gas that can be moved with forks and can fit in the bed of the truck when it needs filled. Can get a small 50gal or could i think get up too probably 250gal but that's a lot of weight to put in the bed
Amazing work as always you two. Can I caution against using the solid surface countertop cutouts as cutting boards? They will be very harsh on your knives. Starboard, plastic, or wood would be excellent choices and your knives will thank you!
Fun to see the continued progress! We got around 8-9" of snow with the same storm, although most of it has melted already :(. Hope all is well and I look forward to the next update.
Hey Ryan, just want to say ho amazingly put together these videos are. They all tell an amazing story, so poetically. Great Job! Ps. As a trim carpenter looks like your have found yourself a great trim carpenter for your house.
Everything is looking really nice guys! Love the accent wall and the canning area! There is always something to do out on the farm! take care and don't work too hard!
Hey Ryan I noticed that your electrical trimming is not done yet, i know its not my house, but if there is an issue with the electrical, you are going to end up patching a lot of holes all over the house, you should consider doing that first, finishing the fixtures and a “hot check” so you know for sure is good, i see it all the time, doesn’t take much to make a mistake and spend a lot of money and time fixing it, its easier to do that first before everything else is installed especially knowing that you guys had some changes while that house was being built, don’t run into any more issues just like it happened with the hvac.
Narration great as usual Ry. Great to see you and Kel out and about planning. You both have a defined path, but can be fluid as well. Beautiful scenes with the snow, especially with the wind and light drifts across your property, we dogs love the snow.
An absolutely stunning property that gets better and better! I’m so happy for you both and selfishly I hope that you will keep taking us along on adventures even when the construction is complete.
So nice to see everything coming together for you guys, those counters tops should be perfect, because when you have a place called West Berries, you don`t want red and purple counters, sure butcher block would be beautiful, but eventually as the finish wears off, purple wood. I can a lot myself, we have black granite, so no worries. I love the panels being installed on the walls, that will be gorgeous after paint, love following the build, all the best to you guys, from Michigan.
Interesting the deer made the creek crossing at that steep embankment instead of an easier spot. Are you always calm and patient or do you just edit those parts out when you're not?
Nice! I'd be digging a hole for a swimming spot right next to that creek. And it would be a water source if you needed one. Looks like your skidsteer did a nice job. Sweet dogs you have there. Awesome blackberry patches! Watch out for snakes. They love blackberries.
Iowa rivers and streams are not something you’d want to go swimming in. Animal waste and fertilizer runoff! One of my biggest gripes about living here.
That Joey 😂 he’s a little ball of fire! He won’t want to move into the house - hence he will be a shop dog 🐶 We have that same wall in our formal dining and entry absolutely love ❤️ it!
Good sir, thank you for this videos. I was wondering, how many acres is your farm? The better half and I are looking to move from suburban living to more a rural setting in a year or so.

Maybe a gas storage tank is the way to go

Fabulous, just fabulous! Living in the Midwest is fun, embrace it!
Barndo is looking great. Like they say, If you don't like the weather just wait 15 minutes it will change.
Have you ever thought of a bulk fuel tank and fuel delivery? Would save the hassle of running back and forth.
You need a set of pallet forks for the skid steer
I can't wait for green grass there again

They make some pretty sick snowblower attachments for skid steers too. Not cheap I’m sure, but still
I feel with the peaceful music beautiful nature sounds and your calming voice you should make a relaxation/ go to bed podcast. Lol
Great video Ryan. Gotta say I am jealous of the fact that your snow is gone. We just got another foot last night.

Sadly we didn’t have any snowfall large enough to even sled this season. Ready for spring!

I was giving that tip to anyone who might be taking cans for gas. I understand that most have a larger tank 👍

You prune them to 4 foot tall or so then if you trellis them do like rasberries.... t shaped supports with two wires running between each post
Love the update
You can even stack 4 rotopax double or triple wide
That shot at 20:22 with the wisps of snow in the sun was really nice
Love your videos Ryan
Great video Ryan.
A masterpiece, thank so much for sharing your dreams with us. Beautiful so beautiful.

Nice update Ryan. Stay safe in the upcoming storms, hopefully it misses you! Bracing for heavy snow in MN 🥶
Amazing work as always you two.

That place is really coming together nicely!
Another great video. So ready for spring too see everything awaken from the winters sleep on your homestead.Thank you for sharing.
Niiiice! Another great video!
Clearing snow from that driveway takes slightly more time than your previous driveway. 😆
Ryan great snow footage........Fav........Dark Garage out garage door window!!!!!!

Very well done Ryan. U and your wife sure have your work cut out for u. Now u will know what a farmers life is, dawn to dusk. Good job.

Do you have blueprints or a layout of the Barndo that you could share?
Get some Edge Tamers for your bucket they work well for that application.
Yayyyyyy Kelsey!!!!! Canning room almost done!
Your dogs are cute , they loves their new house , I can’t wait to see your upstairs turn out, great channel ❤
I know you love your old truck, I get it… maybe time to install some tow hooks if you’re gonna keep playing with fire haha.
Lovely
That Joey 😂 he’s a little ball of fire! He won’t want to move into the house - hence he will be a shop dog 🐶 We have that same wall in our formal dining and entry absolutely love ❤️ it!
It looked like the dog didn't quite know what to do in all that snow.. 🤣 Hope you get to move in the living quarters very soon!
Why not put a flat bed on the green truck and add a fuel transfer tank on it
I like your wife maybe a series "Kelley's Kannig Days"? Lots of Jam and Jelly can be made in that amazing 2nd Kitchen
Good sir, thank you for this videos. I was wondering, how many acres is your farm? The better half and I are looking to move from suburban living to more a rural setting in a year or so.
Solid surface is under-appreciated at the moment.
I'm really enjoying the videos... until I see an Iowa State sweatshirt.... Go Hawks!
LOL
