I know, right?! It does everything a soundtrack should do. Add drama to the film, and give you a picture of what's happening and who's there. After the main theme, I can see the Joker trying to execute one of his plans to terrorize Gotham and being foiled by the Bat Family (that's his theme, followed by Batman, Robin, and Batgirl).
Even at the time this show was made, cartoons weren't scored like this. Cinematic cartoon shorts have their own scores, but weekday afternoon cartoons didn't - they relied on composing a few bits of stock music because the breakneck pace of production required it. It says a lot about how much leeway the production staff had from Warner Bros. that they could actually successfully commission a unique soundtrack for every single episode, with an actual live orchestra, for a show intended to be run five days a week. BTAS is unique in so many ways, and there really was nothing to compare it to then on television. But the creators wanted a cartoon show that sounded like a cinematic film, and they had a production studio that let them do it.
12:00 Clayface’s theme. Superbly the best theme of the villains. I remember watching this as a child on TV and that theme haunting me for years demanding I listen to it.
What as so great about the music for this show was that fact they did not hold back on spending money for original composition for each episode. Most cartoons have a library of themes that they reuse over and over again thru out its run. Batman was the exception to that. Made a choice to make each episode its own original soundtrack.
nothing in this world can top the music of Batman: The animated series. The music, drama of Shirley Walker gave me an exciting imagination for my childhood and still remains
Superb Suite, can visualize every hero & villain with their own sections. Kudos to the talents of Elfman & Walker, and you too, Mr, Knittle for putting it out there for all us fans.
1990 seems a little too late, considering that this series aired when you were still just a baby. Also, if you were born ten years sooner, you could have enjoyed this show AND cartoons of the '80s as well.

11:57 Man, I miss Shirley Walker. She was brilliant. Such a shame she never got more recognition.
The greatest woman composer in the history of cinema and television.
still the best version of batman to me never be another cartoon like it
thats how you do a batman soundtrack

Damnit. Cartoons these days don't have scores like this anymore!
To be honest nothing does. Movies, shows, they've all lost their musical qualities in pursuit of "ambience" and current trends. Truly a tragedy.

Ninjago has amazing soundtracks
The Matt Reeves Batman films needs this kind of music score and it will suit the films nicely
It in fact did have this kind of music score and it was beautiful

Ik this is 2 years too late but I have to disagree. Mister Freeze's theme has got to be the best .
