      You got THAT right! He treated them as his own personal piggy bank for he and his trophy wife, and ran them into the ground! He is currently enjoying a net worth of $1.7 Billion, down from $2 Billion last year. What a stooge. There can't be more than $50k of inventory at this store, multiplied by 3 remaining stores, plus the structures and land. At least he still has his Lampert's Lumber stores. Lol.

      The only reason that he is CEO of Sears and Kmart is because he got tired of having to pay someone else to do the job. All three of the CEOs of Sears Holdings Corporation before he gave himself the job actually wanted the company to be successful, and had the necessary experience to make it happen. Unfortunately, it was more profitable for Eddie if the company failed.

I've seen people comment stuff like "run to a walmart or kmart" a few different times. On the survey site I use to make a bit of money on the side, they mention kmart along with other stores like target, walmart, etc. And the other day my mom said we should go to Kmart.. the Kmart here has been closed for at LEAST 10 years but probably closer to 20. What do you MEAN we should go to kmart??

    I'm just wondering why the remaining 3 stores in the continental U.S. are still operating? Why have these locations not been liquidated a year ago in 2021? They are certainly not making a profit at these locations. Aisles of empty shelves, no in-store services, no employees, no customers, large sections of the store blocked off...It makes zero sense for these to be open.

    A big reason Kmart failed (at least in my area) is that their prices were always higher than everyone else. Look at those little BBQ's in this video, why are they $140 and $115????? I literally got that exact Weber for $50-$60 at Walmart but they want $115? That stupidity is a major reason these idiots are going down.

    • @TuNnL
      @TuNnL ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are probably pricing them so high so they don't lose too much money in the liquidation sale. Kmart didn't just fail in your area, they failed nationally as a business strategy.
      Eddie Lampert was trying to minimize Sears/Kmart's debt by closing all stores that weren't making a profit (which was most of them) and selling off assets (i.e. Craftsman tools). Brick-and-mortar retail, in general, is a dying business.
      I would be surprised if malls still exist 25 years from now. Brick-and-mortar retail should be limited to grocery, drug and home improvement/gardening stores by then. 🤷

    • @Vichedges
      @Vichedges ปีที่แล้ว +1

      “What they lost”? Kmart was ok in the 70s and maybe the 80s but by the 90s it was the most ghetto shopping experience possible.
      Kmart never updated. Same with Sears.
      I remember going to buy my grandma a microwave and ended up buying from Sears because it had the best price….BUT…..I had to take a ticket up, pay and then wait for them to bring me my microwave. This was in the late 90s when you could just walk into a Walmart or Target and buy a microwave.
      The last time I went to a KMart and Sears was when I was appliance shopping around 2015.
      I bought a washer and dryer from Sears….and I had two salespeople fighting at the register about who was going to get the commission….right in front of me.
      I won’t miss any of that at all.
      And I won’t miss the dark dingy Kmarts stocked with cheap junk either.
      Time moved on, Kmart and Sears did not and it eventually caught up with them.

Downsizing the store in to the Garden Center? And this is still not actually completed as of yet? Who would shop in this store in its current state? It actually look like an alternate world inside. They need to give up this charade and close the remaining stores and be done with it. This has gone on far too long. It's sad.

    Things go.
    The world never stops changing....it never stops remaking itself.
    We don't get that opportunity. Instead, we have mortality. Death.
