I love William Hartnells doctor. He is crotchety and frown a lot but beneath his tough exterior has a lot of love through actions more than words.
One of my favourite Hartnell stories! Historical with scifi shenanigans, regular Doctor with a relatively new team. Such a breath of fresh air
Growing up I always loved the second through fourth doctors, but Hartnell grew on me slowly over the years. He had some iffy episodes and some are lost entirely, but he’s in fine form here!
"A space helmet for a cow." LOL.
One of my favourite Hartnell stories. "Go away! I'll come out when I'm ready!" Love that moment even though Hartnell wasn't actually there. His line was pre-recorded as he was on holiday during recording on Episode 2. Also love his facial expression in Episode 4 when he says "He won't listen, he's determined to have his own way. He's got to be stopped. He must be stopped!"
"He is the crew. We are passengers. " Summary of 60 years.
Classic Doctor episodes are so scary and interesting
2:16 The 6th Doctor does repair the TARDIS, or The TARDIS decides to wear a different outfit. She like the Blue Policebox form
I miss the First Doctor
0:37-0:41 "What do you think it is, a space helmet for cow?!" XD
HAPPY 60TH ANNIVERSARY DOCTOR WHO🎉
"One day, I will repair"
One of the best stories. The companions have plenty to do advancing the plot, just like the modern stories, because William Hartnell took a holiday (the Monk keeps him locked in a cell so he doesn't have to appear and Bill recorded a few lines so we can hear him in there complaining about his breakfast). i imagine that when the 12th incarnation of Doctor Who said "Oh no, NOT VIKINGS, I'm not in the mood for Vikings" he was remembering this adventure....
Would love the Meddling Monk to return - what a great character!
He did return in "The Daleks Masterplan"
Didn’t the Daleks kill him in the end of that ?
@@mornnx01 I think so
@@mornnx01 Nah, the Doctor stole his Directional Control Unit from his Tardis and he ended up marooned on some uninhabited planet.
This is actually quite enjoyable. I love Dr Who and these old ones are full of charm.
A great story and the first time another Tardis appeared.
I do hope the Monk returns someday.
He returned in "The Daleks' Master Plan", again played by Peter Butterworth, though only for 3 of the 12 parts. Whether he'll ever return in a regenerated form or not, it's hard to say. Same goes for the Rani.
He returned in audio in a regenerated body
Peter Butterworth and William Hartnell in Carry On Timelords
Ein Meddler ist ein Meddler, weil er Meddl hört.
First time we saw another Gallifreyan other than the Doctor and Susan!
(if i remember rightly, in the Virgin books New Adventures, the Monk's first name was revealed to be Mortimer!)
🤔
The TARDIS is alive and takes The Doctor where he needs to be.
From the episode of the 11th Doctor, The Doctor's Wife
Love doctor who 🎉
I like The Time Meddler
The Monk is a lot sillier than I imagined him.
I like the classic who episodes. An adventure
Wow this is from 1963 and he already looks old in here. Does this man even age? :o I mean I knew Walder Frey is like the oldest living person, having grand grand grand grandchildren and stuff but this is ridiculous!
U do know he’s dead ?
Not the same actor.
William Hartnell passed away in 1975.
Happy 60th Doctor Who
O:20 nice Vicky, but you know, this is a fairly recently made souvenir for the tourist trade. As Vikings never had horns on their helmets.
“Pound”
❤️
I've always really liked the First Doctor after reading the Target novelizations when I was a little kid, but tbh I don't think The Time Meddler is one of his best stories.
Haha-this monk has to learn not to miss with the timeline-what he does is change history and the world might be different from the one we are in !!😅😅😅
And the ship never blended in since. Lol
First he says he's not going to climb up. Im not a mountain goat. Then he says he will meet them up top
I wonder if this monk is secretly a Time Lord? And if he ever got his TARDIS fixed?
😊❤agreed
The Doctor does mention that the Monk is from the same place as him (i.e. Gallifrey, though it hadn't been named in the show yet; neither had the Time Lords). The Monk did manage to fix his TARDIS, and returned in _The Dalek's Master Plan_ the following year. He hasn't been seen again since.
@@TheMoonRoverBig Finish at least gave us three new incarnations of the Meddling Monk, though neither the Monk or the audience knows their chronology, as they’ve meddled with time so much that it’s warped their own timeline.
Well they got that wrong, Viking helmets never had horns
Its a space helmet for a cow
No one cares 😂😂😂
@@doctor826217 thumbs up and counting
@CricketEngland, oh, shut up 😂
Literally everyone knows that in 2023. Barely anyone knew that in 1965.
Looks cool
Agreed 🎉
So if the Meddling Monk returned for Gatwa’s era, who should play him?
Rufus Hound and Gemma Whelan are pretty great in the audios, so I’d love to see either one of those incarnations show up in the tv series. But if we had to have a new actor, then Matt Berry would be my prime choice.
Isn’t this episode called “The Meddling Monk” ?
As that’s the great Peter Buttleworth
No, that’s the second episode of the story; this video is about the story overall (which would not be an episode).
Lots of lazy Whovians have said that "The Monk" was "The Master"
That's nonsense
It's like saying Manchester City is Manchester United
Are you saying they're not? /s
There's also the War Chief in "The War Games".
@@AndrewChapman Good point. I'm interested to see if they convert the Celestial Toymaker into a Timelord
@@Teh_GoatOr another Timeless Child.....
@@mattevans4377 Aye, cause that was a popular plot twist 😆
🥰
Marooned in 1066 and the vikings are coming?
Why would you mention about the monk at this point. Unless... NO. It can't be! Imposible! Yet possible. The monk might, no, WILL come back!
No, this episode is part of the Whoniverse collection where past companions and Doctors are reunited on a "Memory TARDIS" and talk about their experiences with the Doctor and we see an episode. The actors who played Vicki and Steven appeared in it and talked about where their lives went after they left the Doctor.
And know the monk goes by the name of flood
is that...
felicity kendall?
if so, then speaking as a feminist myself, she is sweetly pretty. and the ideal character for vikki.
It is not Felicity Kendall, but she IS sweetly pretty and I want to protect her.
The actress playing Vicki is Maureen O'Brien.
"I prefer walking to any day. And I hate climbing."
