- Its not a super hard to find watch- but it is hard to find in good condition, and properly aligned. I'm very happy to have finally picked up an excellent example. It is my favorite affordable watch to date.
Thanks to @the_mighty_marinemaster for selling it to me. If you enjoy Seiko vintage and modern follow Martin on IG

old skool Bruce Williams!..because of you and random rob,,4 years ago i bought the save the ocean great white(non king)..this vid bought back that nostalgia man!
There is no quitting a good old school Seiko diver!
@@BruceWilliamsUnusually for a Seiko diver it lines up.
The nostalgia is thick on this one, and I absolutely love it. A Bruce Williams Seiko diver video takes me back to 2018. I’ve been wearing my SBDC055 for the last couple of days. I used to watch your Seiko videos over and over when I was just getting back into watches. I might watch a few now. Thanks Bruce.
It’s funny that you got me to buy the srpc23 years ago because of your enthusiastic review (I still have it) but you are just getting one now lol. I hope you enjoy it for many years to come like I have.
This one is sticking around!
I bought mine after falling in love with it after watching Bruce’s video back then too! Still have mine too and so glad I picked it up when I did.
This is the BW that I subbed to so many years ago. I wore my SRP775 today and I’ve loved it more and more over the years. I’m a turtle fanboy and always will be. This video was great
Got me one only two days ago and now this video was on my subscriptions. :D
Excellent pick up Bruce, your videos have definitely made me consider this model more than a few times but for me the SRPE093 on a rubber tropic ended up being my ultimate Turtle reissue, although I did read that they may be bringing the Pepsi bezel (non-PADI) with the black dial back into production, thanks to a surge in sales for the SRPE093 over the last few years.
Ive been thinkin of buying this too. I got my cousin one a couple of months ago for his birthday and I cant stop thinking how cool it looks on his wrist.
Love this video! I actually started watching your channel back when you did the PADI Turtle video. I also had the SRPC23 but eventually sold it as I had too many Turtles in my collection. It's definitely one of the best.
Always loved the Turtle. Always will.
The save the ocean turtle ( the first release) was my first Seiko diver and it remains the best watch in my collection for value and sentimental meaning for me. I’ll always be a huge turtle fan. Thanks for the upload
Hard to believe Seiko would discontinue this, it had a short run even though it seemed popular. It’s relatively easy to have the bezel aligned, something any professional watchmaker can do in a few minutes.
Hi Bruce. Another great video! I managed to snag one of these after watching your previous video on this model and, like you, I love it! I also alternate between a flat vent rubber strap and a Z199 from US. Keep up the great work buddy. Martin
Picked up mine for £260 a few years ago Bruce, doesn't get as much wrist time as it deserves but I'll never sell it 👌🏻....as you say "old school" and all the better for it 🤗
old school seiko is my favorite
This reminds me of the Orient Trident. I love that watch. I managed to purchase the two tone black and gold. I really want the Blue version
I like how aluminum bezels age and ding along with the rest of the watch. The blue text for the day looks excellent.
Blue on Sat, red on Sun, black the rest of the week
@@BruceWilliams makes it fun! Divers!
I love that one! My “one that got away” was a terribly short sighted mistake. I bought a Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon Trieste when I was making a great living. After a stroke and loss of my career, I sold it to a local jewelry shop. It was a bad decision! I was worried about the cost of servicing a 600M WR chronograph! Alas, it was the coolest watch I have ever touched. The pushers were operable underwater down to 600M! No, I couldn’t have dived that deep, but having a chronograph that could be started just after getting in the water for a dive was INCREDIBLE!
After seeing the video you did on this release four years ago. I picked one up new at a very good price with no alignment issues. For me the anthracite dial and black bezel insert is a classic Seiko look. I still have the watch and wear it often. Usually on the original bracelet or black waffle. Thanks again for the heads up Bruce! 😁 Glad you finally grabbed one.
Thank you for this very nice review. This Seiko looks great. I fully agree on your opinion about the look of a worn bezel on a tool watch, I like the look too.
About reflections on the glass, sapphire has the most reflections, I guess due to density. Mineral glass reflects less, and acrylic even less than mineral. Acrylic does not require any anti reflective treatment whatsoever. Personally, I prefer the robustness of sapphire, but domed acrylic is my overall favourite for looks and weight.
Very good looking Turtle indeed, enjoy!
Turtle lovers for life!!!
I love my SRPE093, always on a rubber Strap
Same here! Love my SRPE093. Mine lives on a grey Uncle Seiko "Irezumi" rubber strap.
Very nice watch for sure. 👍
Nice! Personally, I’m buying only King Turtles. Love ceramic and sapphire crystal for durability.
Love this watch, Bruce. Stunning dial and I like the no lume plot at 3. Also, I think these dials are 1mm smaller than the current turtles. Hard to believe, but I really do think this makes a difference.
Funny enough, I currently have this exact model for sale, it has been customised with a coin edge bezel and domed sapphire glass and i have the genuine parts all unmarked and also the genuine bracelet, was after £270 for it.
I much prefer the black dial - SRPE93. Currently have it on a brown leather strap.
Happed with me for the Farer Maze II. I looked for several years and then all of sudden it was sold out and they are not bringing it back in the same size (moving smaller). I got lucky and bought used (great condition) but paid more than original. I missed out on the bracelet since that was an add-on purchase. Lesson is don’t wait too long, exactly.
I had 4 turtles, recently sold my grenade King Turtle. Have 3 left. All aluminium bezels. The original PADI, the gilt 775 and this SRPC23. It's my favourite of them all. I love it either on the GL831 or the Uncle Seiko waffle. Best looking turtle ever.
As much as you try you can never get away from Seiko divers and once you get back it’s a slippery slope and might aswell dive into it fully! Have you looked into the SLA057 and 055? They’re stunning and my recent grail watch (057) . The Seiko SLA033 is another one I’ve been obsessed on for a while. For me Seiko divers just have some inherent soul, charm, beauty and spark about them that just can’t be found in any other brand’s divers!
I have yet to see either reference in person, but I would love to! I did buy the SLA033 when it first came out. I like that pre-owned prices are coming down on that one. I think my next purchase will be the SLA051. The value of that is hard to beat
@@BruceWilliams Man the ever brilliant steel on the SLA055,057 just hit different in person, stunning. SLA051 is perfection, would love to see a review sometime in the future, goodluck on the purchase!
This one is nice but a little large on my wrist. I opted for the black slim turtle and put the same uncle bracelet. I was lucky with the bezel thankfully.
Hi Bruce
It's funny you have chose to buy and do a review on this watch. I bought this watch after seeing your review on it all those years ago. I'm afraid to say I hardly ever wore it and put it on ebay this week.
lol the timing
I remember this one. One of the best of the standard SRP turtles about 4-5 years ago(?). That grey dial. I think one of the reasons that good examples of this particular model may be hard to find these days was it seemed like a lot of them may have been cannibalized for their lovely gray dial for various Seiko mod projects.
That is a good point
I bought mine a few years back, got a made in Japan model. Took me like five or six attempts to get a good one lol. They were notorious for terrible chapter ring, day/date or dial alignment. And bezel of course but bezel is easy to fix.
I believe Island Watch still sells the original black silicone strap for the turtle.
I love mine! It’s my favorite Turtle. Hope this one is a keeper for you since it’s not that expensive and harder to find. Congrats.
Also, I compared the dial color to the SPB143. This dial color is a little bit lighter which makes a little more sense now why it’s called the Silver Surfer.
lol nothing is a “keeper” for BW!
It woudn't make sense to flip this one. I can't stop wearing it
Cool video. I think you might have messed up the title because you say the reference is the SRPC23 but the title says SPRC23
you should refresh with a new srpc13 video, it being almost imposible to buy and all. (I own one thanks to your initial video longggg time ago)
SRP777❤
This does indeed look good. Next up ...NOS SKX, anyone? Anyone??! 😅
Been through about 12 turtle variations over the years, sold them all apart from my first turtle (padi) even though has a misaligned chapter ring. Only ones I regret selling are sbdy015 (classic black dial with kanji wheel), sunburst orange dial LE, grey dawn ( sunburst silver dial) and Zimbe Turtle (grey dial and bezel thai LE)
I would rebuy the Nemo and the C3PO. I have to keep my eyes out for those too
Wow that’s some pretty special Turtles. I wanted to grab one of those Grey Dawn Europe models when they came out but never managed to get one. Prices have soared on those since ( the Grey Zimbe Turtle is even higher!). The orange sunburst Nemo is spectacular and I also love the Blue Lagoon. I think Bruce has had two Nemos over the years and flipped both. Just love the case of the Turtle and how well it wears. Classic!
Even tho i owned the and prefer the turtle lagoon srpj35 i’d still say this is one the best turtle ever made
Terrible 4R movement? What do you mean. I have a Padi Pepsi mini turtle. Love that thing
Knowing you Bruce, this one will probably be flipped and gone within a month which will be a pity because it is a really nice watch for all the reasons you outlined in the video. I switch mine between an Uncle Straps Razorwire and a Z199. Bought mine brand new and it’s not going anywhere. Was shocked to hear that the SRPC23 is currently your only Seiko diver. Can’t believe you flipped the Coral Blue Sumo…. I predict that will eventually be a re-buy.
Place your bet!
Hey Bruce, great video. Quick correction though. The greatest turtle ever made was actually the srpc44 gold turtle.
I have my eye out for a good C3PO. Haven't seen any pop up for a while
Glad to see a Seikoholic get this back on wrist.
Why is the 4R “terrible”?
Nothing wrong with this movement in a watch intended to be used.
Many issues with the movement. Fortunately they are cheap to replace, most watchmakers just swap in new movements when issues arise or service is needed
@@BruceWilliamsI had always thought they were durable and reasonably accurate. Mine have been.
ups... little hair on center 7:13
Never owned a Seiko. Congratulations.
The best Turtle ever released was the Sea Grape. While yours is beautiful, I am going to have to respectfully disagree and remind you of the amazing Sea Grape Turtle. Limited, yes. unparalleled dial, yes. Best color silicone strap, yes.
The SKX was better.
I love the slim turtles. SPB317 is in my list
