For me Demon Slayer had breathtaking visuals from the beginning. Lighting, Focus Effects, Character Design, Blurred Backgrounds and Dynamic poses were the best I had seen in years.

He was one of more annoying anime characters on introduction, there was almost nothing likable about him, Not only he was a coward, but his first scenes nailed that off putting first impression. It is however an interesting approach to make his 'brave and focused' moments that much more impactful and they are some of my favourite scenes in the series. And oh boy, later in manga it gets even better!
I know! Like, imagine if that scene had a hiphop music. It might be just as cool from the way Ufotable does things, but it most likely wouldn't break the internet as much as it did from the way it is now.
I think right now we're in a golden age of animation. A lot of legendary animators are still active but new animators and new technology has fully come into it's own as well. Combining the best of old school and new school.

hey Zenitsu is amazing ;-; personally i also hated that type of character, the "coward comic relief", but kimetsu managed to change that (i also hated Inosuke's character type but I love him now)

Can we also talk about the sound mixing and effect on this show? The numerous distinct sound effects on the breathing styles, that sweet teeth grinding noise of the ninja demon, the swords stabbing through the flesh, bones breaking...the sinister slashing sound of the Rui's thread, it's so fucking clean. It's mostly praise on animation foir ufotable, but I want to give major props to their sound team as well. Also I'm happy that my man, Go Shiina, finally landed his big break.

@@SirBeach I think it's not that he was overdone (he's almost exactly the same in the manga) but Ufotable left out some really genuinely sweet moments of him connecting with Nezuko: him showing Nezuko Shinobu's goldfish bowl (she loved it) at the risk of getting scolded and him talking to Nezuko about how great Tanjirou is and promising to take her to a nearby flower field at night during the recovery arc. Well, at least to me that's why I think he wasn't done enough justice.

Comparing Ufotable movies especially the Heaven's Feel movies to anything even their own works is like comparing a 10th dimensional being to a 3rd dimensional being.
It's definitely possible. The hardest part will be learning to draw and animate, and then directing and writing will be a bit more chill to learn. I'd go with the hardest first and then go with the easier stuff.
That is still not a fair comprasion demon slayer was the first 2 cours series that Ufotable did without a break in the middle. Check fate zero and unlimited blade works, they both had a set of 12-13 episodes with a break in between
@Um,What? Nothing I don't know if it started production in 2018 though I do know it had 10-12 episodes completely before the premiere. Honestly the argument isn't really a big deal. Demon slayer looks good, not as good as fate but still good.
@@hamzahussain7598 kimetsu is not lower than stay night overall, just the artistic direction is very great even the ambiance is excellent , it's not only on the animation but in general, even the fights are more intense cause you're really involved with the character and more into it. the sound design is also great, and it's only 1 season since the movie is about the be the most grossing film in japan they will probably improve a lot in the season 2 or 3 if you take in account the movie.
Ufotable and Kyo Ani to me have the best animation of the last decade. Ufotable mastering mixing CG and 2D. And Kyo anime having the prettiest 2D animation.

Very informative video, but the Zenitsu hate has evidently turned a lot of viewers off. While I understand where he is coming from (Zenitsu's kind of a you either love him or hate him type of character), the clear bias of his delivery kind of detracts from how professional he usually is when narrating a video explaining various parts of an animation process, regardless of the series being the subject of discussion.

It kinda feels like everyone heard him make those three jokes about Zenistu and then turned their brains off, ignoring literally everything else in the video.
I really enjoy the commentary and information that's put into this video but the over-dissing of Zenitsu did start to get in the way of me just focusing on what you had to say;;; He's not my favourite character but even I felt it's a tad bit too much of a distraction when I just want to learn about the technical makings of the series;; Also as an animation major, I actually felt that the first few episodes of the series was less flashy to match the pace of Tanjirou's growth. He started out as plain, naive and unknowing to the world and as his journey starts to flesh out, it reflected in the angling and dynamic of animating choices ufotable makes. I personally don't think things need to be super flashy from the get-go to be amazing. I really enjoyed ufotable's subtlety and balance. But that's just my two cents. People complained that Fate Zero had too much VFX but then also complain that the first few episodes of Kimetsu to be plain and it really makes me feel like either way, it just sounds like people just want to complain. Also the comparison for Kimetsu as a series to heaven's feel that is literally a feature length film is definitely unfair to say the least. There's just so much difference in terms of how the project is handle, timeline, choice of staff that is dependent on the fact that either it's a movie or a series shows how little thought went into that opinion ): Usually preferences are handled well alongside facts presented but this time i feel it's leaning a little too hard on the former than the later. I guess I expected better out of Canipa, having watched some of your other videos.

I read somewhere that Kimetsu no Yaiba manga was about to be cancelled due to low sales, but their sales went up since Zenitsu was introduced. In short, Zenitsu saved Kimetsu no Yaiba.

I think far too little is being said about music and sound. They are an integral part of every scene that make them so good. Be it Demon Slayer or Fate series. These scenes don't hit half as hard without the music.
I don't know.. if hes like this after what happened in Season 1, Im pretty sure he started alt tabbing onto some other website whenever Zenitsu's on screen after his first few scenes.

The animation leaves me breathless. Glad you saw what I saw, they went way beyond of just animating the manga. They expanded almost every scene the manga didn't portrayed!
So you're saying because the camera isn't whipping all over the place, like that Fate stuff (which I don't think I could even stomach), and so many modern Hollywood movies, it's somehow "lesser?" People get sick of this stuff. Just because you *can* do something doesn't mean that you *should.* People deploying CGI backgrounds or camera work, clearly haven't gotten that. The rules of filmmaking don't vanish because you have a 360° free roving camera.
you should do an fire force animation showcase because That mangaka has two anime adaptations that are a sakugafest and in this case the fire animation is some really high level shit. I was floored
People talk a lot about ufotables animation, but seem to forget that ufotable had a stacked sound composer working on demon slayer as well. Yuki kaijura, who is the female equivalent of the talented sawano, and Go shina, another very good composer.
I F-ing love the Japanese Escher room. I rewatched the scene and tried to get good screenshots, but it's just so much better in motion than as a still-frame.
How much influence do studios have on the soundtrack? Because Ufotable anime consistently have amazing osts that fit really well with their amazing sound design.
Ufotable producers specifically only work with two composers. Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina (They worked with both of them on Demon Slayer). It depends on how much control the studio has over their productions, but Ufotable has more influence than most and so can work with these two composers on pretty much everything.

As a Zenitsu fan, I love how he got the special treatment of animating his fight scene with this hotshot animator that you mentioned. No wonder despite having 0 knowledge on animation, I noticed that Zenitsu's fights + Tanjiro's fight against Rui had the same feels. Those animation are just brilliant. Also, I like how you openly diss on Zenitsu 😂 I love him but I also enjoy seeing other people hate on him because he is kinda annoying sometimes too 😂
2:20 The internet also has changed the landscape. Before you had to keep viewers hooked as if you did not produce content constantly they would quickly move on and forget about it. Now with the internet fueling fandoms a seasonal show can actually get more watchers since you constantly have the hype of the new season bringing people back and bringing in new ones along the way. Also with fandoms being seasonal can be an advantage since it gives them time to talk about it, make fanart/fanfiction and other things. The average age of anime viewers has also increased and adults are more willing to wait and understand that being seasonal is a positive thing. Also again because of the internet if you keep your adult fans hooked they will likely drag the child fans along with it.
@@crim3574 He didn't. The only Dragon Ball Super clip they showed was done by Yukihiro Kitano though. We know this because anyone familiar with TOEI animators knows his garbage art.. He does get a little better later (especially with his Effect's work).
It would be really cool if you put the name of key animators on the scene you are showing like you used to. It makes convenient to know who's talent we are watching.
The issue with Demon Slayer in particular is that a huge amount of the animators aren't confirmed. While there are shows like Fate/Grand Order, where the animators will happily come on Twitter and talk about their cuts, that doesn't happen too often with Ufotable. Nozomu Abe is a pretty easy guess, but I'm not comfortable stating something outright when it could later prove to be wrong. In the past, I could stick notes over the video as corrections, but I'm not able to do that these days.

Ep 19 : When Tanjiro cut Rui head. He actually can't cut it but able to do so because of Nezuko blood techniques that explode and give impact making the sword slice through Rui Head. Source : Trust me. Joke aside, its from manga. Its a nice touch that they skip the explanation because that scene is beautifully made.

One thing that helped ep 19 was the music that accompanied that whole scene. This was great btw!

While I understand where he is coming from (Zenitsu's kind of a you either love him or hate him type of character), the clear bias of his delivery kind of detracts from how professional he usually is when narrating a video explaining various parts of an animation process, regardless of the series being the subject of discussion.

Honestly, Beastars cgi is kinda iffy. I think land of the lastrous did it better.
Beastars is like 100% CGI so sure it have to looks smooth

woah man, I am jumping on this #DontHateZenitsu train right now. Trust me when I say...read the manga
I really enjoy the commentary and information that's put into this video but the over-dissing of Zenitsu did start to get in the way of me just focusing on what you had to say;;; He's not my favourite character but even I felt it's a tad bit too much of a distraction when I just want to learn about the technical makings of the series;; Also as an animation major, I actually felt that the first few episodes of the series was less flashy to match the pace of Tanjirou's growth. He started out as plain, naive and unknowing to the world and as his journey starts to flesh out, it reflected in the angling and dynamic of animating choices ufotable makes. I personally don't think things need to be super flashy from the get-go to be amazing. I really enjoyed ufotable's subtlety and balance. But that's just my two cents. People complained that Fate Zero had too much VFX but then also complain that the first few episodes of Kimetsu to be plain and it really makes me feel like either way, it just sounds like people just want to complain. Also the comparison for Kimetsu as a series to heaven's feel that is literally a feature length film is definitely unfair to say the least. There's just so much difference in terms of how the project is handle, timeline, choice of staff that is dependent on the fact that either it's a movie or a series shows how little thought went into that opinion ): Usually preferences are handled well alongside facts presented but this time i feel it's leaning a little too hard on the former than the later. I guess I expected better out of Canipa, having watched some of your other videos.

I think far too little is being said about music and sound. They are an integral part of every scene that make them so good. Be it Demon Slayer or Fate series. These scenes don't hit half as hard without the music.

The animation leaves me breathless. Glad you saw what I saw, they went way beyond of just animating the manga. They expanded almost every scene the manga didn't portrayed!
I'd like to see a studio spotlight on the arc system works. They make 3d games that look as good as 2d OVAs
So you're saying because the camera isn't whipping all over the place, like that Fate stuff (which I don't think I could even stomach), and so many modern Hollywood movies, it's somehow "lesser?" People get sick of this stuff. Just because you *can* do something doesn't mean that you *should.* People deploying CGI backgrounds or camera work, clearly haven't gotten that. The rules of filmmaking don't vanish because you have a 360° free roving camera.

People talk a lot about ufotables animation, but seem to forget that ufotable had a stacked sound composer working on demon slayer as well. Yuki kaijura, who is the female equivalent of the talented sawano, and Go shina, another very good composer.
The vibe and comedy of this anime is almost as alluring as the plot and story line.
I F-ing love the Japanese Escher room. I rewatched the scene and tried to get good screenshots, but it's just so much better in motion than as a still-frame.

How much influence do studios have on the soundtrack? Because Ufotable anime consistently have amazing osts that fit really well with their amazing sound design.
Ufotable producers specifically only work with two composers. Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina (They worked with both of them on Demon Slayer). It depends on how much control the studio has over their productions, but Ufotable has more influence than most and so can work with these two composers on pretty much everything.

I hope to see a video in the future about an one case project that is FGO Babylonia when it's over, I think all the fuss around this series animation is worth digging into, especially with so many people involved.
As a Zenitsu fan, I love how he got the special treatment of animating his fight scene with this hotshot animator that you mentioned. No wonder despite having 0 knowledge on animation, I noticed that Zenitsu's fights + Tanjiro's fight against Rui had the same feels. Those animation are just brilliant.
Also, I like how you openly diss on Zenitsu 😂 I love him but I also enjoy seeing other people hate on him because he is kinda annoying sometimes too 😂

The internet also has changed the landscape. Before you had to keep viewers hooked as if you did not produce content constantly they would quickly move on and forget about it. Now with the internet fueling fandoms a seasonal show can actually get more watchers since you constantly have the hype of the new season bringing people back and bringing in new ones along the way.
Also with fandoms being seasonal can be an advantage since it gives them time to talk about it, make fanart/fanfiction and other things. The average age of anime viewers has also increased and adults are more willing to wait and understand that being seasonal is a positive thing. Also again because of the internet if you keep your adult fans hooked they will likely drag the child fans along with it.

You know how great ufotable is in their work to satisfy their audience, if you have seen new demon slayer movie (infinity train).
It would be really cool if you put the name of key animators on the scene you are showing like you used to. It makes convenient to know who's talent we are watching.
The issue with Demon Slayer in particular is that a huge amount of the animators aren't confirmed. While there are shows like Fate/Grand Order, where the animators will happily come on Twitter and talk about their cuts, that doesn't happen too often with Ufotable. Nozomu Abe is a pretty easy guess, but I'm not comfortable stating something outright when it could later prove to be wrong. In the past, I could stick notes over the video as corrections, but I'm not able to do that these days.

Ep 19 : When Tanjiro cut Rui head. He actually can't cut it but able to do so because of Nezuko blood techniques that explode and give impact making the sword slice through Rui Head.
