I lived in Astoria, Queens for 4.5 years. Loved it. That's where American filmmaking began before people moved to Hollywood. Next time you go, visit The Strand bookstore and Max Brenner (Chocolate by the Bald Man), both in Union Square. Glad you had fun!
whaaaat so cool! I really liked Queens (although I spent more time in Manhattan area). Do you think it still has good filmmaking connections? Thank you for these recommendations! I just looked up Max Brenner. That looks SO GOOD. 😍
@@artistarchives4747 I worked as a background extra on a lot of movies and TV shows in NYC, so it does have a vibrant community. Los Angeles might be bigger, though. I've lived in both places. It was easier to work on movies in NYC because they have great public transportation, and I don't have a car. In LA you really need a car, which I find sad and frustrating.
@@AScreenwritersJourney Yeah, I assumed that LA would be *way* bigger, but sounds like NYC is vibrant too! :') so cool you've lived in both places. Ah yes, I've heard about the need to have a car in LA -- surprised they don't have better transport!
I totally agree about being in new areas growing creativity. Literally was walking through King's Cross today and 2 poems came to me. Well the start of them😅😂 but getting out really is a creatives nutrition

When my friend and I went to New York several years ago, we also got lost! Not an easy place to navigate!
that was my biggest gripe with NYC hehe. The roads, the streets, the avenues! Everything had so many names. Like dayuum
