This video is not shot in one take. The segments are, but there are at least three takes. There are something called transition effects that they use in order to make it look like one take but this video was shot in continuous segments but not one take.

What makes Janet so unique is her ear and love for all kinds of music...from Joni Mitchell to Brazilian Jazz and that she knows and can spot a reference because she is so well versed in subcultures. She wanted this to pay homage to the club kids and drag queens of the 80s. Ugh! I can't wait for her to tell her story...it will change everything. This woman attended Studio 54 as a child and thought people were putting flour up their noses. Whew!

"Damita Jo" might be Janet Jackson's last masterpiece but "Discipline" is a ok album. It's not like her previous albums but it still holds up today with the techno and electro pop sound which many artists today doing so the Discipline album is ahead of it's time.
Let's not forget it also brought Janet Jackson back into the touring world her first tour in 7 years and her most successful US hit single in 7 years as well not bad at all.

It was okay. To me 20 Y.O. was still much better because it actually still somehow felt like a Janet album, whereas with Discipline, while there were more potential hits, Janet's lack of input was very apparent. It was soulless and felt like a Janet imitation, especially without any production from Jimmy and Terry. It sounded more like Ciara than a Janet record.

By Far one of the greatest music videos I have ever seen! Everything is perfect. The fact that the whole film is not cut/edited is mind blowing. It just shows again how much effort was put to create that video.
Years ago, when I once had cable TV, I was fortunate enough to come across this video on a music channel; it never left my mind. "Discipline" has to be one of Janet's finest eras or masterpieces. Her creativity is mind blowing and it's a damn shame America didn't get to witness or enjoy the talent it's been bless with, once again, because of it's backwards/puritan mentality. Janet is never underrated. Every video got better and better.
I like discipline, but oh my god, 20 Y.O and Damita Jo were janet's most underrated albums in my opinion. they both would have been so huge, but both were completely blacklisted and wiped out because of janet's super bowl, it was terrible how the media treated her, the songs, just a little while and all nite stop from damita jo would have easily been janet's 11th and 12th number one hits had they not been blacklisted.

Janet you are desperately missed from the music scene... I don't know why but I feel Janet will come back and when she does, it's going to be explosive and it will blow everyone mind, it's my only guess as to why she is building up the momentum of a slow return back to music.

The thing that makes Bitch I'm Madonna such a hit is by the second chorus, you are singing it. Like it or not, the track is catchy as fuck.
The almost entire rest of that album (Rebel Heart) is simply amazing music from Madonna.

Janet was sexy, yes. But she was "classy sexy" It was what brought her Janet. album into the stratosphere.
I am a fan of both artists (a rare occurrence I know) and am glad they both released some of the best music this last year. And for me it is the same coin on different sides.

Fun fact: Ne-Yo personally wrote this for Britney’s 5th album Blackout (along with a bunch of other songs that eventually went to Beyonce, as well as Rihanna) in early 2007. It was during a very tremulous time in Brit’s life - divorce, child custody battle, death of her cherished aunt, rehab, and 100’s of photographers following her every move - that she failed to show up to the recording studio (several times apparently) to lay down the vocals. Jive (her record label) never returned Ne-Yo's calls as to why. Britney had fired everyone in her circle including cutting off contact with her family. She wasn’t speaking to her record label let alone anyone.
Blackout is still a solid album though, with or without “Rock With You”. No disrespect to Janet, the song might have reached a bigger audience had Britney Spears recorded it. It certainly deserves it, the song is fire. And catchy af.
Ne-Yo later said he was pissed (at Brit’s no-show), and gave the song(s) to another artist (he later forgive Britney after he heard Blackout), Enter Janet, one of Britney’s idols, and someone she often emulates. Still, she makes it her own. And gives it a certain mysterious sexiness only Janet can bring. She commented before its release that she made it “for the gays”

I'm glad Janet got this record because the video and it's intricate choreograohy makes the song (which is already amazing) that much more amazing. Blackout is my all-time fav Brit album but she wouldn't have been able to give the dance routine justice by that point in her dance career and the routine is very, very special and important to this track, along with the dark and sexy, club kid visual. I guess everything happens for a reason.
I can't see Britney doing this song, video and choreography like how Janet execute it.

Now, why do you feel the song would have been a bigger hit if Brittany Did. In my opinion, it does not matter who did it. Just like you said Janet brings a mysterious sexiness to it. Brittany, would have done the same thing. We all have our own mysterious sexiness to us. So comparison's and who would have did this or that, does not matter we all are special and mysterious.

Janet's version of the song was sadly criminally ignored, and I believe she deserved massive success with this one. It's a gem that got away. And the album is great too.
