I have had mine now for three weeks, and I don't think I've ever connected with a piece of machinery like I have with this keyboard, and I've been playing for 30+ years. There is magic in this keyboard, from all the feels from the 80's vibe, to the new amazing sounds from the Juno X model sounds and features. The sounds are just amazing, both the VA sounds and the digital ones. I'm in love, yes, and this will be in my studio until I am no longer in my studio! Thanks for sharing your Juno X beginnings!
Great choice, Sir. The Juno-X is a very desirable instrument, indeed. I wonder if the sound parameter sliders transmit/receive SysEx or CC messages. Juno-106 transmitted/received SysEx, so the sound parameter slider movements could be automated.
@@GlennMainMusic Then you have the people on the forms saying Oh it does not sound exactly like the old Junos with its Zencore technology. I agree there might be a 5 percent difference where Zencore is slightly smoother sounding over the original which in my opinion sounds better. Fans who love the old sounds can get the exact same tone with Rolands ACB technology that the System 8 provides. It has a slightly sharper sound like the original. However in a mix on a song with reverb and EQ, no one could hear a difference nor would they care. They just want a great sounding song. But Zencore technology has so many advantages over the System 8 with after touch and more polyphony
In my opinion I would Go for the Juno X. Simply because I think the layout is a bit more “easy” to understand… but it all comes down to personal taste 👍
NIce!!!!Cant wait until you make a track with this baby.Listen i just got a Roland tr8s and you mention you have one, maybe you will do a tutorial in the future?Got an Electribe 2 also and these are my first hardware groove -boxes so i have a lot to learn.Got very tired using the computer so i figured i try some hardware for a change.
It looks really nice, Glenn! I think I will hold on to my System 8 for a while longer as I rather prefer the sound of ACB and my mc707 has all the ZEN sound tools I need... Gotta love the design though... Aftertouch there as well? Can't wait to try the Juno x out though :)
I remember that synth when it came out around 1982/83 if I'm right 🤔 but still couldn't afford it those days, i was only 17years old with few money 😭 but i think for a few couple of hundred euros more i prefer to buy its bigger brother, the Jupiter X. My opinion of course 😉
I’ve had the Jupiter XM , and it was a great synth. The only reason I sold it and bought the Juno X was because of the layout on the front. It “speaks” more to me because I am used to the 106 😃😃 But they are very much the same inside - so great choice no matter who you choose:)
Looking for a "Roland" for my studio setup.Korg.Access.Nord.yamaha at the moment+++.So is this the one that covers 70s/2022? Get stuck in Glenn...looking forward to a post in a week or two...might be everyone's X soon....
Thanks for the demo, Glenn! You mentioned that you like the keybed on the new Juno X. I wonder how it compares to some other keybeds mechanically, especially - other Rolands. Have you tried the Jupiter X or Fantom and could you compare the keybeds with the Juno X? (I'm sure they would not have fitted it with some inferior keybed, as the instrument looks solid. Just checking... :>) Thanks!
I only had the Jupiter XM with the small keys, and I sold it now that I’ve got my Juno x , but I think the Keynes are something in between a “synth” and semi weight Keybed. It’s very responsive and soft at the same time.. if you know what I mean 😃😃
@@strayferal- - I used to have the Jupiter XM, But I wanted a bigger keybed… so my plan was to change it to the Jupiter X, but a friend of mine at Roland told me that if I waited a couple of days, I would be exited.. so I waited… and boom !! The Juno X was released 😃😃 The reason why I went for this was the layout , because I grew up having a Juno 106 (that I still have), so I was very familiar with the layout. So that is the actual reason 😃
🤣 Because it was a secret mission… 🤣🤣🤣 My girlfriend must not know that I went to pick up my “X” 🤣 And even worse.. bring the “X” back home to my studio 🤣🤣🤣
Soul-less instrument. It's like when you listen to New Age music; at first you think "Ooh cool". Then 5 minutes later you're like "Turn this crap off - all fluff"
Thanx :) We all have our different preferences, so that is all good :) But yes, it sounds great. I grew up with the Juno 106 and my KORG polysix , ai it is just what I wanted 😃😃😃
🤣 Well - I would love to go to that Karaoke bar where they make their own tracks live 😃😃 So you’re telling me that a pianobar with live piano players also are karaoke ? Or a guitar player with a looper pedal is karaoke 🤣? I really hope your comment was meant to be funny 🤣🤣
@@GlennMainMusic The best comedy is funny, while also true. There is always a line with humans and technology where the technology takes over, and it's no longer human. That line is different for everybody. This synth doesn't appeal to me, personally. But there are plenty of people who it will appeal to, and that's fine. For my ears it sounds incredibly generic, and very digital. I have used similar types of instruments, and know that it's always possible to get interesting results once you break out of the known paradigms and presets, so I have no doubt that it's possible. It's just not the reason why I own a restored original Juno 106 for, which is character, simplicity, immediacy, and tone. In my opinion, none of these things are present in this "modern take", and I suspect that a great deal of very similar sounding boring generic music will be made with it. All you need to do is turn it on and press a few buttons and you have a fully realized song, after all.
@@SR-ih1be - I respect your opinion, and of course if you just use preset sounds and patterns, all will sound the same I guess, thats why I make my own. The purpose with my tutorials are just to show some of the possibillities with this synth. I also have my Juno 106 fixed with brand new sound chips (6 of them) And of course nothing beats the original... but this is the "modern" version of a synth we all love, so to me it is a really nice recreation of a classic synth. But we have all different needs and meanings, and that is a good thing :-) I will continue to try to figure out more of this synth anyway, and maybe I can make it sound even more realistic fue the sounds of the 106.. And one other thing.. to program the sequencer it takes a lot more than jut puching a couple of buttons by the way :-)
This is the second time I’ve seen SR cry about this. Who cares. Don’t buy it. I too love analog for obvious reasons, however I have a million different uses for this and it will certainly open a wide range of possibilities more so than the far “superior” Juno 60 or 106. For you, I’d say the issue is a user error ;)

That’s an awesome choice man :) I just love my Juno x 😃😃😃
It's awesome. I'm inspired continuously playing with my Juno x.
Just got mine, great fun. Having a blast all over again from my early days with a Juno 60. Thanks Glenn.
A beautiful instrument 🙂
Just purchased a juno x im amazed with it such potential.
Congrats ! It’s a great super synth 😃😃😃😃
It's so beautiful. It sounds so amazing. Congratulations. Can't wait to see what you can do with it.
Thank you so much :) I really love this synth :) I will make more tutorials very very soon ;)
Lol I’m ready for another vid!! Lol I’ve watch all the the Juno-X vids on TH-cam…. I need more!! 😋
I am making one right now :)
Congrats! Now I want one.
Thanx :) It is a great Maschine :)
Like a kid in a candy store! ;)
Congrats to the new toy, Glenn.
Thanx :) Like Christmas Eve 😃😃😃
Can see some great stuff being produced on it glenn
Oh yes :-) Workong on some right now .-)
Amazing!
Oh yea - Thanx 😃😃
Congratulations 🎈

I could listen to the I-Arpeggiator and you playing much longer. You two really have chemistry there! :D
🤘😃🤘
I just bought a Juno X. Please try to upload tutorials so you can help us learn to use its potential. It is Owesome!
Congratulations!! A great choice 😃 I will make more for sure :)
They don’t have them in my area just yet. May place a pre order at GC tomorrow.
It’s a beauty of a synth. I ordered it without trying it first.. I just knew it was the right thing :)
Same! I sold some gear and put a pre-order in this afternoon. Now the hard part, waiting for it to arrive! 😉
Looks like a very cool synth.

I am not quite sure of that… 🤘😎🤘
It sounds and looks amazing. Due to the reverb and delays with the signal it does not have such a dated sound. Like the original Juno keyboards.👍

Can you finger drum on this thing? Like how do the drums work? Are they inaccessible other than through premade beats?
You can fingerdrum and Step program directly on this synth. And it is TR style step programming. You can do up to 64 steps (4 bars in a 16beat) 😃😃😃
