    My dog never liked his bed he only bites & humps it. The first day we got him he had a bed but all he did was sleep on floor so we ended up getting rid of it

      Ash, Check online for people who upcycle and re-purpose furniture. There are some people who repurpose old TV consoles and more into dog crates/beds. You can also find images online. (just don't know about something for a Dane, other than a bed/doghouse from wooden pallets!)

      Ash you should check out Pinterest - there are so many DIY big dog nooks you can make with palettes and wood and all that stuff

    My puppy is too energetic. He attacks me when I even put my feet on the floor.

    • @zebdawson3687
      @zebdawson3687 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Gotta give them more time to burn energy off (playing or walking, etc.), a tired puppy CAN’T be too energetic, it’s as simple as that. Also, never try to train a hyped up dog, you HAVE to burn their energy before you try to teach them ANYTHING or they can’t hold their focus long enough.
      Walk your dog more or play with them more. Easy fix.

      If he jumps on you while you’re on your feet just turn your back to him and if that doesn’t work go to a different room and close the door and stay there for like 2 mins and then come out

      @@mindyhill2534 my partner and I were having the same issue. She would just not stop no matter how much exercise we gave her. Turns out we were over stimulating her so we started to put her in her crate for naps throughout the day. It fixed our problem. A lot of people will come after you for not exercising your puppy enough but it’s more complicated than that sometimes. Hope this helps.

    VIDEO REQUEST: Hi Zak, I would lOVe to see a video on how to get over a plateau... 1 year in. For example I have a 1 year old basset and there were some wins and some half-wins. How do you get back on the training track and correct some bad habits or perfect some learnings. An example of bad habits is that my dog does not care anymore when I say NO! She knows nothing really bad is going to happen so if she decides to stop dead on the sidewalk to see if I'll let her roam and sniff for a while, she will do it for 2 minutes knowing 3 blocks of perfect leash walking after that will still bring a treat. More worrying than that if I find she is playing too rough with a small dog (she is super-socialized and the small god himself did not mind but I did) she does not stop or let go when I say NO!
    I would also like her to stop checking to see IF I have a treat before she obeys :-) So how do you get back on the training wagon and get better when they are not puppies anymore and they got smart at knowing where they can push the boundaries. Thanks!

    I would love a video on how to introduce a reactive dog to other dogs or how to get a(n adult) dog socialized with other dogs. We're fostering a sweet dog who is said not to get along with other dogs (could be due to the physical pain she has been through) and I'm afraid that will hinder with her getting adopted (and then keep us from helping other dogs). Any advice would be appreciated!

    This is the most important thing we have taught our puppy. I figured out after 11 years with my last Pomeranian how to keep him from ever dashing the door: Go to your bed by the door, get a really good treat. We live in the middle of one of the busiest parts of Denver so a loose little dog is a tragedy waiting to happen. Everytime I go to unlock the front door now, there will suddenly be a puppy on his bed, sitting pretty, waiting for his special doggy sausage treat. Go to bed has also worked to be able to tie my shoes unmolested. We have beds in several places so Zeus knows where to be in a room. I just started training him to sit on a dot. It took him all of three minutes with a clicker to understand.

  • @Yeewen88

    First just sit right beside it and pat the bed for them to go on
    One they are on reward heavily to keep them on
    Pat the floor to get them off and try again reinforcing slightly less
    Eventually you can try a more subtle gesture like just pointing
    Reward heavily, reward a little less
    Then go abut further and point towards it, reward
    Try a bit further, reward
    Go way further reward
    Bonus from me: Make sure to reduce your dog’s meal quantity based on the amount of the treats you give them. Also try to feed a raw fresh food diet and give natural treats like ziwi peak and green lamb tripe.

    Y’all I need some help. I just got a 7-8 week old puppy and he can’t stop crying at night! I’m not sure what to do. Do I ignore him? I feel really bad since he’s practically a baby and I don’t feel that he’s old enough to be trained to do things. When’s the right age to start training? What should I do when he keeps whimpering and crying during the night?? I really need help, I love this pup but i truly don’t know what to do. By the way his is the second day he’s with me! He’s fine during the day but he whimpers so much in the crate. He wants freedom or idk he’s learned that crying gives him what he wants.
    Also, what type of treats should I give him that are safe and good for month old puppies?

      Fatima Anahi hi, let me share my experience to you, i have 8 weeks corgi puppy. After we took her from her breeder we slept WITH HER in our bedroom in her own cage FOR 3 DAYS. After that the 4th day we move her cage closer and getting closer to living room, every single day i put her cage closer to living room. Yes she cried on 4th day but only in the beginning maybe few seconds because we let our sleeping door open so she could see us. And now she is 14 weeks she is totally chill out when she is sleeping in her cage every night alone in our living room.
      When we got her, i IMMEDIATELY teach her how to sit, stay, let go, walk beside me, and now i even dont need snacks to give it to her. she did it perfectly.
      She never cried in her own cage because she thinks her cage is her own sleeping room, even though she cried i never ever give attention to her, i never said goodbye to her if she inside the cage, if you talk to your dog meanwhile she inside the cage, your dog could stimulate the anxiety and worse case she will have anxiety problem.
      Thats why when i have to go out for maybe 2 hours, i put her in the cage, before i put her in the cage i said “sleep well, be nice, i will be back soon” and after i closed the cage door i never ever look at her and i dont say goodbye!
      And you know, she just wait for me and chill out so relax, NO CRYING at all! Im so happy and proud of her.
      And when i come home, i NEVER EVER talk to her while she inside the cage, so after i open the cage door, i talk and hug her, and she happy to see me!

    • @fatimaanahi3531
      @fatimaanahi3531 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anggiezzz hi thank you so much for sharing your experience!! So far he’s doing a lot better with crying in the cage he still does sometimes but not as much! Now I’ve come across another problem.
      HE WONT STOP BITING. He’s turned super aggressive and has begun to growl when he’s biting or if we play tug o war, and he loves to bite feet, hands, and fingers. Did you have a similar problem to this? If so, how did you solve it?
      Also, how did you teach your puppy all those commands and tricks? My puppy has horrible time focusing and he thinks everything is a game to bite.
      Teaching him potty has been the easiest thing, but commands and biting is hard.

    • @Anggiezzz
      @Anggiezzz 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fatima Anahi hi :)
      Well my puppy still bitting but never in aggressive way because since young like around 8/9 weeks i teach her to SIT, STAY, OFF (drop it), WALK beside me, and the most important is NO command. So yes she still bitting because for them bitting still playing (because puppy) but you can control that by saying NO if he bite too hard or OFF if you want he to let go off something from his mouth.
      Because if you teach your puppy too late (the important word is NO and DROP IT) he could be more aggressive when he is older, especially if you have children.
      You can ask me if you have some problems, i hope my tips could help you. If not you need to take some puppy trainings, our puppy is my 3rd dog, so i dont need training anymore because i have experience doesnt mean i want to say i good or best or something, i mean i know some lesson and ways to teach them.

    • @Anggiezzz
      @Anggiezzz 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fatima Anahi she also bite my toes, she loves it, but i hate it. So since she know OFF or NO commands, so everytime she wanna bite my toes, i said OFF and she just walk away, well she keep doing it anyway because for them is playing and fun, but as long they know what is NO and DROP IT/OFF is so it easier us to control them.
      When i teach her first time i give her treats after she doing it well, but i dont make it habits otherwise she could think “ohh if i do good, i will get treats” so i only give her treats in the beginning, now i dont give her treats after i command her, i only say to her “GOOD GIRL” or “YEAH GOOD!” or positive words you wanna say to her.
      Treats for me now just only for snacks, time between her lunch and dinner.

      Hello! I have a 8 week old puppy as well but he doesn’t whine which is unusual and lucky but it’s very normal for them to cry be a strong mommy for your puppy and ignore him/her and if he/she cries when you leave to bed ignore it, they will stop over time. But if he whines a bit and falls asleep and starts whining In the middle of the night take him/her for a short walk he/she may need to go potty good luck!!!!!!

      First off, you need to have a great reward, like real meat. Second, you're probably taking steps that are too big, make sure he knows how to come when called flawlessly inside first.
      Then you need to teach a flawless stay, then stay in minor distractions, then major distractions.
      Then you can you start to train outside, and after he know all of that perfectly inside and outside and in many different distracting environments can you remove the leash.

      Erica Cheyenne try to get your dog really hyped up and excited, any time she barks reward, even if it's just a little bark, you can work up to it being louder later on

    So I have a border collie x rough collie puppy, about 15 weeks old now, who has started to completely refuse going to bed in the evening. Because he was still very young when he moved in, he only lived in our living room, his crate and got some extra playtime in the garden. Now that he's used to everything and isn't completely wracking everything he spends most of his day in our large garden. He's a real outside dog and he just loves to look around, play soccer, look at the rabbits and chew on wooden logs. So his crate has become the place where the fun stops. It's not that he is unhappy in it but he would just much rather sleep somewhere on the grass. Now, he completely refuses to go inside to his crate whenever it is dark outside because he knows that the fun is over for the day. How can we persuade him to just go to bed when we ask him to? We have already tried to just call him inside or near the door when it's dark outside without actually putting him in his crate but he seems to read us too well. For the moment we just pick him up and carry him to his crate but obviously that's going to be quite heavy when he's older? Any training tips?

    Hi ! I have a 2 year old chihuahua and she barks at everything and snaps at every dog she sees. I tried training her but she loses focus and doesn’t seem interested. All she does know is sit,high five, and roll over, which was taught to her at a young age but now doesn’t bother. I also tried to lure her with treats when there’s other dogs around but she just can’t stop barking, I’d try carrying her until she stops and she ends up scratching me to the point where I bleed. She’s really sweet at home but outside all hell breaks loose. Also she has become a bit way too aggressive with toddlers and jumps at them. If I walk her outside there’s other dogs that start barking. When she was a puppy this dog ran up to her flipped her over and bit her, now just a little over a week ago she bit a puppy. She doesn’t listen to my commands when we’re outside. What can I do besides going to a trainer? I am probably gonna do so later on but as of right now I want to take action.

    I'm trying to teach my new rescue dog to enjoy time alone while I go to work, he barks and howls for 10 mins when we leave, think he lays at the front door after, but been been giving him a kong in his bed but if he sees me leave he forgets about it, and runs to the door. so I've almost been sneaking out without him noticing, is this okay or should I let him see me leave without a big deal and hope he will go back to the kong?

    I'd love to try this with my Pom but we cannot keep a pillow type bed or any bed in his crate for that matter because he will hump it! I've even gone as far as getting a flat memory foam bed and somehow he was able to fold it up and hump it too and he's fixed!
