I was with my parents, driving to the Daytona 500. We were making our way through georgia-in an ice storm-and my mother was driving. At no more than 5 years old (my brother with me in the back seat, no seat belts of course was 4), i remember my dad trying to advise my mother on her driving, which essentially led to a very minor fender bender with a guardrail. My father, being a stock car race driver from Indiana, did not fare well in his tete-a- tete with my mother, of course. As they bickered I listened to Al Green as I cuddled with my blanket and my brother in the backseat. The week he passed away , I was in a rental car with my mom and my brother, whom I rarely saw after HS, and Al Green’s Let’s stay Together comes on, from beginning to end. To this day it’s my way of knowing my father is visiting me, whenever I hear this song. Thank you God❤️

I was on pain pills for 5 years and got clean November 21st of 2022. I put my woman and daughter through so damn much, but my woman knew i missed myself. I turned into someone i never wanted to be. She stuck by me and kept believing. When i finally got it together, if felt like i conquered the world. My family was more important and the thought of that was enough for me to go cold turkey without help so i could remember why i never wanna end up like this again. The scariest part is losing someone you love to my own bad habits. Im 35 and i came too this song because I remember if my parents felt some type of way, this kibda music gave you the will to get up and do better for what you claim to be yours. I stopped smoking weed and drinking to give myself a clear mind, but im going from a painter to getting my CDL so I'd have to stop anyway. Long story short, im greatful to have made it through and im greatful my woman believed in me.
