Well, think of it as your personal finances. If you lose your day job, then yeah... you'd be in some trouble.
All because of the biggest scam in humanity.
It's bronze age collapse all over again.
More like scary.
I work in the industry. A 40' container from Shanghai to Hamburg was a mere $2500 and now it's easily over $5000.
You could put 2,660 boxes full of iPhones in 40-foot shipping container. That would make $864.5 million. A shipping increase from $2500 to $5000 really isn’t a large increase

All of this while Panama is sufferings the effects of El Niño. A very dry Panama Canal on top of this whole mess. What a time to be working in maritime logistics.
The Panama canal is becoming more and more irrelevant to global trade as time goes on. It is getting to the point that ships are getting so large they can't actually use the canal and this problem will only continue to grow as ships continue to get larger.
Maybe fast speed trains are the solution?
All shipping companies stocks have gone up from this tussle in the red sea. Proving once again. War is good for business...
Yep the Panama canal is beginning to fail. Partially why the US gave it back to Panama ages ago. It saw what was coming. China is working with South America on train corridors.
I don't think high speed shipping trains will become a thing. I don't think it's economical enough vs just scheduling deliveries of goods. It's the same reason a container ship goes less than half the speed of an American air craft carrier. Economics.

Love the unbiased coverage. I don't know that I've ever in 45 years found a consistent source of unbiased news.
For the Houthis, the very complicated ownership/management structure of maritime shipping and the fragility of the global economy are features, not bugs. If their goal is to force divestment from Israel, making it incredibly difficult to ship on the Red Sea without making incredibly explicit separation from Israel, will likely push at least some companies to completely cut ties, because they simply can't afford the alternatives.
That is their goal. If you look at statements from Houthi leadership they said from the start the blockade will end when Israel stops their genocide in Gaza and they are still letting ships that are not headed for Israel to pass. I would look to sources of information on this that are not the US, because the US is the country that is still sending Israel weapons. They are framing them as pirates because if they acknowledged that the blockade will end when the genocide ends, American citizens will ask why the Biden admin is using their countries military to make sure a genocide does not stop.
I don’t see that happening before they get an unhealthy dose of freedom and democracy.
Can the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Secret Space Force chew bubblegum and kick ass at the same time? This may be a winnable war!
No one is gonna cut ties with israel, because israel is ready to pay the higher price / handle the inflation, so the companies will continue supplying everything to israel at a higher price and dont lose anything because israel still buys it all like nothing changed. He said already that there is little to no effect on the economy of israel ever since the houthis started attacking everything and everyone. Provoking most countries in the world by crippling their economy to a certain degree is NOT a feature, it is only a death wish.
@@echofoxtrotwhiskey1595 I never said that they would be successful, just that it is a good strategy that has a chance of at least seeing progress toward their goal. Honestly, I wholly expect that they will be introduced to "freedom and democracy", but I expect that, given how politically untenable escalating conflict is right now, those interventions will be as a reaction to companies finally caving to their demands. Our politicians are probably going to wait for as long as they can to commit us to another war and that is the line that I think they will draw in the sand where they think they will finally be able to get more support than opposition.

The transportation cost is a fraction of the total cost.

Best video I’ve seen of yours. Really comprehensive breakdown of the whole situation. Thanks.
One of the best channels covering these issues. Kudos!
Crazy how right when this video was finished and now posted, option 4 is what ended up happening 👀😳
Thank you for your amazing content and explanation of ground news.
You must watch main stream media. This is pure twisting of facts in this video.
The British created pirates against the Spainish Gold fleet. Old way of bringing down more powerful adversaries.
Old and REALLY outdated.
Back then, Canon and sabers were the hight of technology.
Today, people can wipe cities of the world map within an instant, and topple governments without anyone getting wind of it.
The hoothies are currently enjoying their last days.
That's why their Royal Navy is the greatest Navy of all time
Just like the Dutch did against the Spanish Silver fleet.
My guy pirates are way older than that.
@carlpanzram7081 bullshi today a simple drone can dismantle an heavy missile cruiser. Remember the moskva?
Easy, force Yemen with military force
Gather other countries to form a alliance and send troops to Yemen to stop their terrorist attack
Do NOT look up the official Houthi motto or their stances on slavery.
I repeat, do NOT. They definitely are reasonable people
Never look that up about Saudi Arabia either. The U.S' trusted ally.
That wont bother any leftists it is only a issue that Europeans used to do it.

33:43 Biden did however also state his and America's unending support of Israel and their attack on Gaza. In my opinion, that doesn't sound like attempting to end any conflicts. At that point, Palestinian civilian casualties had already become more than double Israeli civilian casualties. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think the Biden administration truly wants to end the conflict or they would have put a lot more pressure on Israel.
Feel free to give opinions and reasoning if you want to. I'm curious what others think.
Despite a majority of US citizens wanting a ceasefire, you're correct that the US government has no intention of pursuing one. Hundreds of elected representatives, and I don't think even five will use the phrase "ceasefire" even after all this time and horror. If Joe as an Irish Catholic is still making false claims about the reality of the situation, even after the Pope called Israel's actions "terrorism" and after the representatives of Ireland disowned him for supporting it, I can't imagine anyone having positive expectations of White House decision-making.
@@ADSHYNUS literally was about to get multiple Arab states to make peace with Israel before Hamas initiated its attack. And you cry about the US causing instability? 🤡
Never leave the American presidential election out of your calculations. No matter how frustrated with Israel Biden or his team are and how they handle things, they have to look sufficiently pro-Israel or they open up themselves to right-wing attacks that they are 'weak on terrorism' or anti-Israel. The polls are already super close, they don't want to do anything to make it swing a couple more points in the R's direction.

You've misses a significant point... the cost of shipping is at an all time low. This increase in costs has only made the cost of shipping creep up to its 2019 levels. (Approx $1200)
There has been such an over supply of new cargo ships, many sailings have been blanked (cancelled) just to keep prices up. The extra supply will take a few weeks to come into play and mop up the capacity squeeze; but it is expected to only last a few weeks. I know this because I get paid to know this.
This will be nothing compared to 2021 and 2022, when shipping prices hit 11,000. Have a look at the Freightos Baltic index over the last 5 years.
If I get this wrong, my boss will be mad, so I'm willing to bet my next promotion on this....
Lol yeah, the video title is hyperbolic
The index is up x3 since december last year?
Great video. Appreciate the work you put into it. Helps me get a basic understanding of the problems.
2024 will be a turbulent and tense year for the geo political instability in the Middle East. Unless things deescalates drastically, the situation in the Middle East and the Red Sea region will therefore escalate and move out of control.
I really don't see things going back to normal after this.

Im not sure why the "civilised" world (the western world) is so angry about this. What did you think would happen if you starved & abused a people whe way the west has. Would you not steel if your brother was starving? ❤

Yeah when I saw the cost of shipping containers went from 1,500 per container to 4,000. My thought was we’re fixing to feel the snow ball soon through the economic chain
Wait till you see oil and gas prices skyrocket in Europe... or better yet, start seeing actual shortages if the US and UK actually draw Yemen and Hez fully into the conflict there. The houthi have already shown their capability in bringing Saudi oil production to a standstill... if we continue to goad them I to action, they'll take out oil production in the region down for years.
And how much of that is just increased profits for shareholders and C suite employees? That was a leading cause of “inflation” over the last couple years.
Stupid question, but why isn't any of this possible through train lines? Nowadays its possible to build very high speed trains and in much of Africa there is still enough undeveloped land. Is it just not economical or is every neighbor at war with each other out there?
@@coleeto2if the last few years of inflation was corporate greed why did it start then? Were they not greedy or profit driven beforehand? Seems like it all started around 2021 with certain political decisions and covid..
