      @@Freedom-Free Hi - i have been thinking of how to respond to this for a couple of days now. Firstly if someone asks for comments on a TH-cam channel then they will get comments. I do not believe I was at all absusive as some people are on social media. I have several Bromptons and have ridden 1000s of miles on them in various scenarios. So my comments were just comments based on my experience.
      Brian addressed my points fairly IMHO.
      If you have ever looked at previous comments on this channel you will see I have always tried to be constructive and always try to be constructive and/or be complimentary to him. He is a top notch guy - and I always enjoy his posts.

    I recently purchased a Zizzo Liberté based on your multiple videos and review. It's a decent entry level folder and if I really like it, I'll consider purchasing a more fully featured Brompton. I'm a long haul truck driver and needed something portable for grocery running.

    Another great video. Having owned six Dahon bicycles, A Giant halfway, a Raleigh Twenty I appreciate folding bike content, and Brian‘s channel is rapidly becoming the best source for good honest reviews. I’ve also owned a $5000 rode bikes and some hybrids and I appreciate the differences between bicycles and the Zizzo Liberte has been on my radar. Wider range curing than most similar bikes, light weight, and yeah there may be some cost cutting measures costing bikes costing twice as much or even four times as much. From all that I’ve seen Zizzo has done a great job value engineering ring this bike.
    What I like best about this video is HAL Brian appreciate the comments and is not at all at adversarial. Yeah it would be great if we could all go on one big group ride like a critical mass for falling bikes👍

    Bravo!!! 👏👏👏 I really love my Zizzo Forte 🚲 the only thing I changed was the rack. I put on a cargo rack which is more leveled than the stock rack it came with. Nothing at all was wrong with the Zizzo rack, awesome looking and very sturdy, and it didn't affect the fold at all just a bit more heavier. Again great vlog! Cheers from Tampa! ✌️🚲🍻

    Dahon makes a disc brake bike

  • @finncarlbomholtsrensen1188
    @finncarlbomholtsrensen1188 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have rebuilt an old GT alu MTB to a superlight carbon frame, originally with some of the first disc brakes I have seen, to double caliber, top Shimano XTR brakes and oversize discs on Shimano XTR wheels. And don't compare an ordinary brake with a hydraulic disc brake, because the last brakes absurdly much better!!! There's a reason why Pro riders/racers all use disc brakes today.
    That said I have also gone down a steep serpentine road on my Brompton, with often "cattle prevention tubes" over the road, which needed a full stop from high speeds each time, to be able to pass, walking with the bike! And in spite of serious doubts in the beginning, my Brompton never let me down and its ordinary brakes functioned fine all the way down! Finn. Denmark

    When you compared disc v caliper brakes in wet weather, did the pads have vertical or angled grooves?
    I would expect angled grooves to clear the water better, like a tyre tread.

  • @effyleven

    I have a standard Brompton. The brakes are really very good. 3 years, and still on the original blocks.
    Also I have a Scott E-Tour electric. The brakes are Shimano hydraulic disks. Those brakes are also very good at stopping the bike.. and the real confidence in wet conditions is nice to have.
    But the brake pads wear out quite quickly on the Scott. No problem as such. The pads are easy to find, not expensive, and straightforward to change. But I have been through two sets in the time I have had the Brompton, and the spare blocks for the little folder are still in the packet. As things are going, I'll need another new set of pads for the disks on the Scott before the Brompton needs its brakes relining.

    I hope you don’t mind an off topic question. I’m trying to figure something out. First, I’m not mechanically inclined so forgive me if this is a totally basic question. I’ve been thinking about the gears and trying to understand them. So if a gear is bigger, it doesn’t go around as many times for each time I pedal so the back wheel doesn’t turn very much and the gear is easier to pedal but slow. If that’s true, then a smaller gear will turn more times for each pedal and the back wheel will turn more times for each pedal and it will be more work but will make the bicycle faster. Therefore, I’m guessing a bigger crank wheel by the pedals would make it more work to pedal the bike, but the existing gears would turn more for each pedal rotation and the bicycle would be faster overall. Am I thinking of this correctly? Like I said, I just ride and don’t think about this normally, but now that I’ve been riding for a month or so, I can tell I’m getting stronger and more and more I try to reach for another shift up and find I’m already in the highest gear. Meanwhile, it seems I’m almost never on the first few gears anymore, even on a hill. I appreciate your considering this for me.

    • @gammondog
      @gammondog 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. I ride a hybrid bike with three chain rings connected to the pedal cranks. The smallest one is often called a “granny “ because it helps on the steep hill climbs. The biggest one is for speed on the downhill side.I’d say you got it right.

    I have no real knowledge of bikes and I want to tour with the Brompton but, I am still in the deciding phase. This has been going on for two years now. - I'm taking my time now that we can't go anywhere, anyway with this Kung-Foo. This discussion has been immensley valuable for me. I have no idea but I consider myself as being reasonably endoured with intelligence and can make decisions based on other people's experience. That is why I subscribe to this channel. There has been a problem with Channel notifications and even though I went in search of your most recent upload, i must have just missed it. Then I began to be concerned for your health but now I can breath out. The Zizzo website, of course, I went into after the initial introduction you made - cost and weight naturally being a very attractive feature. I cannot really remember much about the website except that i seem to have the impression that the Zizzo's website was unsatisfactory for my needs. Glad to see you back and being so active.
