    Zizzo Liberte commuter here. Every day. Into and through NYC. OK, PATH from NJ into NYC, then riding on the streets. The easy folding and dollying make it really easy to get through crowded stations and up stairs folded. The light weight of the Liberte was what sold me, because I knew I had to negotiate stairs and turnstiles. The 20 inch wheels are great for the occasional pothole.

    Your words about riding onto your workplace grounds with the trucks, and sharing the roads with drivers who aren't as observant as they might be, make a lot of sense. I live in a town where a lot of drivers don't seem to be 'bike aware' - this is why I always wear a high-vis vest when riding my Ammaco 20" wheel bike, anywhere. I also wear a light coloured helmet, which friends say make me much easier to see... when I have to drive a car I notice cyclists wearing white, yellow or light orange helmets are the most easily seen.

    Zizzos are neither crappy nor are they cheaply made! The paint on my Via is gorgeous as are the welds and the bike works perfectly. I’ll probably still be riding it while your Brompton is in the shop… again! And it appears that you caused the problems with the drive train and haven’t dialed it in, so don’t blame Zizzo. They offer a great bike for a reasonable price. Brompton’s are nice but are way over priced!! Love your channel tho’, keep up the good work!

      I never said zizzo was a crappy bike. I said people say why do you ride that cheap crappy bike? Yes, you are right. The modifications I made are cause the issue and I have tried everything to dial it in as you say without success. I will be changing the gearing to something that might work better but I must remind everyone that this bike did not work out of the box. I was having all kinds of shifting issues from the get go. The urbano and liberte models don’t suffer from these problems… Thanks for watching and for the feed back…..I just thought I’d clarify.😁

      I think the best part of zizzo bikes is that you can customize it with off the shelf parts. I think you're just going through trial and error to see what works best for you. Also I have to thank you for your Forte review. I got the Urbano instead and I'm very happy I did! Thanks 👍🙂

    I've been riding this bike for about a month th-cam.com/users/postUgkxwC0IIeIomGQVeBWg-kKJaToZkLEFIA2W and a half now and I think it's fantastic. It helps me get to work on time every day since I'm able to fit it inside of public transportation rush hour. The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.

    It's amazing how inexpensive (comparatively) Zizzo bikes are to even Dahon, but I recall in a former video you said the factory derailleurs were kind of low-end, and perhaps other components, and that's why you upgraded these parts. But you are a serious cyclist, I was thinking of these folders as a neat way to go to grocery stores a couple miles away, there are bike lanes along the road but no bike racks at the stores! I saw in another video you were just easily able to fold up your Brompton and set it into the grocery cart in the store, that's neat! Nothing folds like a Brompton. Are these larger folders able to be compact enough to do that as well? It's interesting to me the Dohan, Tern, and Zizzo are all related, literally. David Hon started Dohan, his wife and son started Tern, and his brother started Zizzo! The Tern models look quality to me (from online), but I'm still mulling things over. Besides, it's summer and it gets HOT where I am, ugh.

    • @ibikeunfolded
      @ibikeunfolded  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Dahon, Tern, and zizzo all fold pretty compact…albeit not as compact as the Brompton. The Zizzo liberte and Urbano models have pretty good components/derailleurs. The rest of the bikes have lower/bottom end components.. I was disappointed by the zizzo forte because it’s an awesome bike with a crappy drivetrain and that’s why I had to upgrade it. I don’t take the tern or Dahon or the zizzo into the stores with me. The Brompton folds so compact that it doesn’t take up too much room in the shopping cart but the zizzo and the others do.

      @Pete Hamilton I purchased a Tern Vektron two weeks ago as an e-bike upgrade from my Dahon SUV D6 and it’s been fabulous! I find the Vektron folding system MUCH better than the Dahon, but still nothing on the Brompton in terms of folding/weight. It was between a Tern and a Brompton e-bike for me but the Tern won out because it came with a rear rack that could take a basket and panniers at the same time plus the Bosch motor/battery.

    • @ph5915
      @ph5915 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pams3887 Thank you for the feedback, Pam! Wow, the Vektrons are noice bikes! They are virtual car replacements to me! I agree, Tern is a premium brand indeed, and I consider a rear rack required. Since they are related, I was surprised to hear they fold better than the Dahon. I generally prefer high quality stuff when I get something - I don't get a lot of things, but when I do, I like quality if I can afford it. I am also intrigued by eBikes. There's a TH-camr that is a bike mechanic out west that's idea is to upgrade standard, old bikes that are sitting in people's garages (like decent older mountain bikes), unused, and turning them into eBikes with Bafang mid-drive motors and associated hardware, for typically about $1500, it's a great idea an a bargain vs. full size brand new eBikes from the main brands - that's a car loan! 🤣

  • @redditchscroller7049
    @redditchscroller7049 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    We have the same here in the UK. Most towns and cities here don't have the bike lane infrastructure that our bigger cities like London have and the smallest vehicle most drivers tend to be looking out for is something car sized so cyclists are pretty much invisible!
    Regarding your gearing on the Zizzo, maybe a narrower chain could help. If your bike is 8 speed then maybe try a 9 speed chain which is slightly narrower in profile. Also you may want to consider fitting a Shimano Claris rear mech which has a medium length cage so it's suitable for 20" wheel folding bikes and a capacity up to 32 teeth on your biggest ( lowest) gear cog.

    Hey Brian, why not give some thought to using an ebike for some of the daily commute rides?
    You don't have to use the electric motor all the time- maybe just when you know the wind is going to be strong against you, or its going to rain.
    So you can still keep up your fitness by riding without the power on part of a journey.
    I use an electric brompton, and its light enough that I can ride it like a normal bike with the motor off, but when I'm not feeling 100%, or the weather is windy/rainy, I switch on the motor and it makes the ride a lot less unpleasant.
    To be fair, I know It's a lot of money to spend on a bike that you would only use once or twice a week, and it might be just me getting older and wanting an easier time of it, but just a thought.
