I was diagnosed with pericarditis in 2004. Mine was caused by sepsis associated with iron toxicity. I had sepsis for 6 months until it was diagnosed. Whenever the infection spread to my heart, it caused scar tissue, which led to me having atrial tachycardia. I hope nobody has to go through this, and none of you have to go through doctors mistreating you even though you tell them what's wrong and they won't listen to you. It's horrifying. Like you know you're dying, and you know your body is telling you, you tell the doctors what's going on and they just keep neglecting your symptoms. Not all doctors are this way, but the ones who are traumatize patients, and sometimes they traumatize them for life. Here I am in 2021, and they're doing the same thing to me while I'm septic again. Strangely enough, the infection started in my throat again. What are the odds? Crazy stuff for sure.

What does the pain feel like? I recently recovered from COVID and it's been on my mind as I've been having very random chest and back pains all over the place that comes and goes, sharp and dull. Troponin came back normal but it feels wrong. Hope you feel better. Rest up and wishing you a speedy recovery.
@@ljot1 The pain feels like an intense pain that radiates in my chest and down my arms and neck which can be both dull and sharp pains. I don't really know how to explain it but its like an uncomfortable tightness in the chest which can vary day by day. I got a lot of palpitations and shortness of breath too, have you experienced this? I have also experienced a lot of tiredness and generally feeling unwell which my cardiologist said can happen with myocarditis. My troponin has fluctuated too, up to 6500 and down to 400 whilst I was in hospital. I would recommend getting your troponin re-checked as troponin takes a little bit of time to present itself in the blood just to be on the safe side if you're still having pain. Very useful to me! I had a pericarditis 3.5 years ago, following about 3 months of rhumatoidal pains (first, then they went away with natural products), then low fever all the time (even ibuprofen would not lower it completely), and a constant cough. I had a few intense chest pain a few times, but no real pain in general. My doctor and me were thinking of a pneumonia, but the treatment didn't really do anything. I lost 20 pounds, because I was not hungry, slept a lot. Finally, my wife told me: you're going to the hospital, you're too sick. In fact, the morning I went to the hospital, I did 15 minutes walk on the treadmill without much effort. They made a scan of the whole upper part of the body and found liquid around the heart (years after, I looked at the report, and then I got afraid: 2.6 cm thick of liquid!). They sent me to a cardiology department in Montreal where they eventually found out that it was cause by a Sjogren (similar to lupus, for people who are not familiar). One funny thing: I was 10 days in the hospital and they made a lot of tests, and many electrocardiograms. One day, I asked one of the doctor: you made a lot of electrocardiograms and you never gave me the results? He said it's because they were always good, because my heart cavity is big enough to let the heart pump without restriction. Good for me! But the inflammantion (PCR) was over 300! The cure was easy: they started prednisone at 50mg/day and then lowering it gradually over a period of roughly 2 months. 3 days after the beginning of the treatment, I was back at my normal activities (with care...) and the energy levels were up to almost normal. What I retain from your presentation is to really chek for symptoms if it ever comes back. Althought I am followed by a specialist for the Sjogren, I don't see him every week. So, it's good to know in advance just in case. I had that when I was 70 years old. Thank you again for this advice, it might be life saving for me!

That’s until I ended up in the hospital with almost 2 liters of fluid around my heart! I had a pericardial Centesis. Thank you very much for this video. I had pericarditis four years ago with the severe pain and landed in ED. I was 60 years old and reasonably fit. I had to do a long haul flight. It was extremely painful and uncomfortable and when I bent forward to tie shoes etc I could feel the crunch in my chest. What helped me was a combination of aspirin and paracetamol. Three weeks ago I experienced vertigo, and systolic of 210 and I was in ED for 24 hours. I’m good now but the breathlessness was the same as when I had the pericarditis.

Been a bit anxious about Myocarditis after hearing there might be connections in young men under 40 being diagnosed with this after receiving the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. Very scary.
I also developed pericarditis two days after the first Pfizer vaccine but one of the doctors who I saw told me it was imposible that the vaccine would give me that kind of side effect! 😢. I’m in my 7th week dealing with the pain! 😢
Myocarditis and pericarditis can be caused by vaccines, but can also be caused by coronavirus. I had the coronavirus 2 months ago and it caused pericarditis which I have now.

I’m on colchicine but I have this on and off numbing dull ache that occurs randomly on the right side of my torso. All blood tests and ultrasound’s have come back normal, as has the ecg of my heart. Hey good doctor, watched a video where this doctor in US explained that during her time in medical research they stumbled upon a cure that consequently was suppressed by big pharma. She was talking about the plaque build up in arteries indirectly caused by tooth decay. They found that erythromycin reduced the plaque in arteries. Wondering if you have had experience of this as a treatment to reduce the plaque and inflammation. Since visiting cardio recently I decided that I wasn't going to take Apixaban and Beta blockers. Hence my reason for subscribing to your site. I am finding supplements of magnesium potassium vit c and zinc and chlorella. Have incorporated coriander turmeric garlic ginger chillies beetroot into my diet oily fish and start my day with a glug of extra virgin olive oil and eating a whole fresh lemon (occasionally red grapefruit). Thank you Dr for all that information, it’s sad that for some one like me who is suffering from pericarditis go through a lot of pain and anguish because some doctors have sent me home telling me that it is just muscle spasm and after two visits to the emergency with severe pain they find out that it is pericarditis and that the symptoms were all there! I hear pericarditis is rare but the symptoms should be a clue to some doctors. BTW My first symptoms developed two days later after my first Pfizer vaccine and when I mentioned this to one of the doctors he said that it was impossible that the vaccine would give me such side effect. 😢

Recently I've had a heart scare, it started Monday, my heart just started to race, I thought it was a panic attack, Tuesday comes, it happens again, sent me to the ER. My potassium and magnesium was low, they have me fluids, then suddenly my heart went to 170. They stopped my heart twice which is scary. They said it's tachycardia, I was given atenolol once I was transferred to a children's hospital. I saw a cardiologist, he told me my heart looks great, they aren't sure why it raced so fast, they also told me to stop taking atenolol. I'm only 17, this is all quite scary, I see another doctor next month but I'm constantly in fear that something is wrong. I'm tired, fatigue and anxious. Is this from coming off the atenolol, or just from having a rough few days? Should I worry?
Beta blockers are not supposed to be stopped suddenly. You're supposed to be "weaned off," i.e. cut the doses, take them farther apart, little by little.

Hi Dr Gupta, I was told back in 2003 i had pericarditis. They based this on my ecg. I was supposed to echo but wanted to get out of hospital. I remember the episode well i woke up with a crushing feeling in my chest and then passed out. Got to hospital they did chest x-ray and bloods and said heart enzyme was slightly raised. I've been given a clean bill of health since. I was once told you can tell on a future ekg that someone has had pericarditis...is that true? you have entirely changed my understanding of my hypertension, you dont know that, but you have changed my life because of your advices, i no longer use medication, my BP drops from (150/100) to (126/88), by quitting smoking, consuming more potassium, and brisk walking 30 min every day AND i need your advice, my Avg morning is (126/91), but at night its (117/75), should i be concerned??

I need some advise. I've had both legs below the knees and my feet be swollen for 8 months. Have a darker color where swollen and the longer I'm on my feet, the feet began to feel like they on fire and soles get hot and dark red. Went to 2 doctors (GP & Spine Orthopedic)and neither would look at my feet. Had ultrasound- clear. Also I am diabetic- insulin resistance, have chronic cervical/lumbar DDD. Also RLS. I have no clue of what specialist I need to see. I have chronic pain in joints all the time. Seriously lost for what to do. Any help is appreciated.
My first inclination would be to find other doctors who are willing to listen to what you're saying, and to at least look at and address the issue of your lower legs and feet swelling!! At the very least it shows your body is retaining fluid and not able to filter and drain away any excess fluid. Could easily be a lymph-node issue or an issue with your heart, ect. Good luck to you!

My husband is having reoccurring pericarditis, had a pericardial effusion in Oct, 2021 and then a pericardial window 10/31. In the hospital his sodium was low and all labs were skewed. Left with an AKI, anemia, allergic reaction to Vancomycin and Zosyn, and almost died. We left the hospital and slowly got better. But he ended up back in the ER on Christmas. Was doing ok, lost weight, been eating better, they prescribed colchicine but developed fever, chills, rash, and extreme lethargy. Was then put on steroids for about 2 weeks. Got slowly better, but last two days, pain, sob, low-grade fever, high blood pressure, and pulse. We have been doing mostly natural remedies for everything. sigh, is there anything out there a natural way to keep from it reoccuring? any helpful information?

Hello Dr. Gupta I have been watching your videos for quite a while and was wondering if you could provide me some insight so I may find some peace of mind or if I should be pushing my doctor to test me further. I’ve had two recent episodes of SVT and both times they self resolved without medication, my doctor believes it was due to stress. However, being a paramedic I asked to look at my ECG and after I had converted back to a NSR it said I had a non-specific intraventricular conduction block. I understand that this is similar to a RBBB or LBBB but it’s not specific however I’ve read on AHA that this type of block leads to increased sudden death and cardiac mortality. I was hoping you could provide some information to explain exactly what has caused this or what is going on because I am completely lost and my doctor only explained it as “your QRS’s are just wide”. Im showing my cardiologist this next time i see him , they have gave me many ecgs , had an echocardiogram thats is so far and all showed up as normal but if its not this then i think ive got the cononary artery spasms , the pain is in my left side of chest feels like my hearts getting squeezed tight and the pain is horrendous its like a really bad stitch pain , i cant move while its happening and cant breath in it hurts like hell if i try my breathing is so shallow , the longest time its lasted is about 5 minutes i have to stay still cant move atall then it will just disappear and im ok again , im wondering is it pericarditis or the spasms
I had a pericardial effusion that kept slowly growing. Eventually had to have a pericardial window. Would love to see a video on it, with questions answered. Such as: will the window eventually close, can the effusion come back again?
@@kguitartunes3869 My cardiologist is very experienced and well regarded. He also sent me for second opinions. I didn’t have pericarditis, only the effusion, so colchicine wouldn’t have been useful.

Im still suffering from stabbing pain in my upper left chest and sometimes the pain is near my lower left chest pain near my arm pit. Then there is dull pain, when the stabbing is gone. Thank you for your video. I just had pericarditis with >2cm pericardial effusion two weeks ago. During my hospital stay, a Subxiphoid Pericardial Window procedure performed and with chest tube placed. 300 ml of fluid with color of "coke" was removed during surgery. I have been on high dose aspirin and colchicine since discharge but still experiencing significant short of breath while climbing stairs. Is it too soon to have constrictive pericarditis at this point?
Dr Gupta could you put a video our about L Theanine. I have Paroxymal Afib and take Eliquis and Bisoprolol. I don't know if L Theanine interacts with anticoagulants as I can't find any data but what I do know is that since taking it 200 mg twice a day my afib episodes are less frequent.

Of note Pericarditis is a common harmful event related to the Pfizer Cv19 “vaccine”. Both my 27 year old daughter and 30 year old son had it. She after one dose, he after the second. Hers took around 2 weeks to resolve, and she did not get the second. His resolved over a week, though the pain was severe enough that he went to the emergency room, with a mild increase of Tryponon. . Interesting discussion.

What does the pain feel like? I recently recovered from COVID and it's been on my mind as I've been having very random chest and back pains all over the place that comes and goes, sharp and dull. Troponin came back normal but it feels wrong.

@@ljot1 The pain feels like an intense pain that radiates in my chest and down my arms and neck which can be both dull and sharp pains. I don't really know how to explain it but its like an uncomfortable tightness in the chest which can vary day by day. I got a lot of palpitations and shortness of breath too, have you experienced this? I have also experienced a lot of tiredness and generally feeling unwell which my cardiologist said can happen with myocarditis. My troponin has fluctuated too, up to 6500 and down to 400 whilst I was in hospital. I would recommend getting your troponin re-checked as troponin takes a little bit of time to present itself in the blood just to be on the safe side if you're still having pain. Very useful to me! I had a pericarditis 3.5 years ago, following about 3 months of rhumatoidal pains (first, then they went away with natural products), then low fever all the time (even ibuprofen would not lower it completely), and a constant cough. I had a few intense chest pain a few times, but no real pain in general. My doctor and me were thinking of a pneumonia, but the treatment didn't really do anything. I lost 20 pounds, because I was not hungry, slept a lot. Finally, my wife told me: you're going to the hospital, you're too sick. In fact, the morning I went to the hospital, I did 15 minutes walk on the treadmill without much effort. They made a scan of the whole upper part of the body and found liquid around the heart (years after, I looked at the report, and then I got afraid: 2.6 cm thick of liquid!). They sent me to a cardiology department in Montreal where they eventually found out that it was cause by a Sjogren (similar to lupus, for people who are not familiar). One funny thing: I was 10 days in the hospital and they made a lot of tests, and many electrocardiograms. One day, I asked one of the doctor: you made a lot of electrocardiograms and you never gave me the results? He said it's because they were always good, because my heart cavity is big enough to let the heart pump without restriction. Good for me! But the inflammantion (PCR) was over 300! The cure was easy: they started prednisone at 50mg/day and then lowering it gradually over a period of roughly 2 months. 3 days after the beginning of the treatment, I was back at my normal activities (with care...) and the energy levels were up to almost normal. What I retain from your presentation is to really chek for symptoms if it ever comes back. Althought I am followed by a specialist for the Sjogren, I don't see him every week. So, it's good to know in advance just in case. I had that when I was 70 years old. Thank you again for this advice, it might be life saving for me!

Thank you so much! I was diagnosed with pericarditis when I was 16. I am 24 now, and it’s been one hell of a ride. At first I didn’t take pericarditis serious, so I never treated it. That’s until I ended up in the hospital with almost 2 liters of fluid around my heart! I had a pericardial Centesis. Thank you again for your reassurance and spreading awareness of this terrible illness!

Thank you very much for this video. I had pericarditis four years ago with the severe pain and landed in ED. I was 60 years old and reasonably fit. I had to do a long haul flight. It was extremely painful and uncomfortable and when I bent forward to tie shoes etc I could feel the crunch in my chest. What helped me was a combination of aspirin and paracetamol. Three weeks ago I experienced vertigo, and systolic of 210 and I was in ED for 24 hours. I’m good now but the breathlessness was the same as when I had the pericarditis.

Been a bit anxious about Myocarditis after hearing there might be connections in young men under 40 being diagnosed with this after receiving the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. Very scary.
I also developed pericarditis two days after the first Pfizer vaccine but one of the doctors who I saw told me it was imposible that the vaccine would give me that kind of side effect! 😢. I’m in my 7th week dealing with the pain! 😢
Myocarditis and pericarditis can be caused by vaccines, but can also be caused by coronavirus. I had the coronavirus 2 months ago and it caused pericarditis which I have now.

Thanks for this info! I’ve recently been diagnosed with this thanks to an ST elevation reading. I’m on colchicine but I have this on and off numbing dull ache that occurs randomly on the right side of my torso. All blood tests and ultrasound’s have come back normal, as has the ecg of my heart. No clue why this pain is lingering…… it’s been almost month :-(

Hey good doctor, watched a video where this doctor in US explained that during her time in medical research they stumbled upon a cure that consequently was suppressed by big pharma. She was talking about the plaque build up in arteries indirectly caused by tooth decay. They found that erythromycin reduced the plaque in arteries. Wondering if you have had experience of this as a treatment to reduce the plaque and inflammation. Since visiting cardio recently I decided that I wasn't going to take Apixaban and Beta blockers. Hence my reason for subscribing to your site. I am finding supplements of magnesium potassium vit c and zinc and chlorella. Have incorporated coriander turmeric garlic ginger chillies beetroot into my diet oily fish and start my day with a glug of extra virgin olive oil and eating a whole fresh lemon (occasionally red grapefruit). Thank you Dr for all that information, it’s sad that for some one like me who is suffering from pericarditis go through a lot of pain and anguish because some doctors have sent me home telling me that it is just muscle spasm and after two visits to the emergency with severe pain they find out that it is pericarditis and that the symptoms were all there! I hear pericarditis is rare but the symptoms should be a clue to some doctors. BTW My first symptoms developed two days later after my first Pfizer vaccine and when I mentioned this to one of the doctors he said that it was impossible that the vaccine would give me such side effect. 😢

Recently I've had a heart scare, it started Monday, my heart just started to race, I thought it was a panic attack, Tuesday comes, it happens again, sent me to the ER. My potassium and magnesium was low, they have me fluids, then suddenly my heart went to 170. They stopped my heart twice which is scary. They said it's tachycardia, I was given atenolol once I was transferred to a children's hospital. I saw a cardiologist, he told me my heart looks great, they aren't sure why it raced so fast, they also told me to stop taking atenolol. I'm only 17, this is all quite scary, I see another doctor next month but I'm constantly in fear that something is wrong. I'm tired, fatigue and anxious. Is this from coming off the atenolol, or just from having a rough few days? Should I worry?

Beta blockers are not supposed to be stopped suddenly. You're supposed to be "weaned off," i.e. cut the doses, take them farther apart, little by little.

My son has acute chest pain around ribcage suddenly at night and said can’t take a deep breath. We tried stretching and ruled out not the muscle strain nor any injuries. Hi Dr Gupta, I was told back in 2003 i had pericarditis. They based this on my ecg. I was supposed to echo but wanted to get out of hospital. I remember the episode well i woke up with a crushing feeling in my chest and then passed out. Got to hospital they did chest x-ray and bloods and said heart enzyme was slightly raised. I've been given a clean bill of health since. I was once told you can tell on a future ekg that someone has had pericarditis...is that true? Is it possible that carbon monoxide poisoning could have caused this?

you have entirely changed my understanding of my hypertension, you dont know that, but you have changed my life because of your advices, i no longer use medication, my BP drops from (150/100) to (126/88), by quitting smoking, consuming more potassium, and brisk walking 30 min every day

Can pericarditis come as consequence of post chemotherapy. The cardiac sac is mostly connective tissue with myofibroblasts and fibroblasts I Imagine. Do you think someone taking antioxidants of many kinds can spontaneously recover from Pericarditis if they typically have a good lifestyle?
I need some advise. I've had both legs below the knees and my feet be swollen for 8 months. Have a darker color where swollen and the longer I'm on my feet, the feet began to feel like they on fire and soles get hot and dark red. Went to 2 doctors (GP & Spine Orthopedic)and neither would look at my feet. Had ultrasound- clear. Also I am diabetic- insulin resistance, have chronic cervical/lumbar DDD. Also RLS. I have no clue of what specialist I need to see. I have chronic pain in joints all the time. Seriously lost for what to do. Any help is appreciated.
My first inclination would be to find other doctors who are willing to listen to what you're saying, and to at least look at and address the issue of your lower legs and feet swelling!! At the very least it shows your body is retaining fluid and not able to filter and drain away any excess fluid. Could easily be a lymph-node issue or an issue with your heart, ect.

My husband is having reoccurring pericarditis, had a pericardial effusion in Oct, 2021 and then a pericardial window 10/31. In the hospital his sodium was low and all labs were skewed. Left with an AKI, anemia, allergic reaction to Vancomycin and Zosyn, and almost died. We left the hospital and slowly got better. But he ended up back in the ER on Christmas. Was doing ok, lost weight, been eating better, they prescribed colchicine but developed fever, chills, rash, and extreme lethargy. Was then put on steroids for about 2 weeks. Got slowly better, but last two days, pain, sob, low-grade fever, high blood pressure, and pulse. We have been doing mostly natural remedies for everything. sigh, is there anything out there a natural way to keep from it reoccuring? any helpful information?

Hello Dr. Gupta I have been watching your videos for quite a while and was wondering if you could provide me some insight so I may find some peace of mind or if I should be pushing my doctor to test me further. I’ve had two recent episodes of SVT and both times they self resolved without medication, my doctor believes it was due to stress. However, being a paramedic I asked to look at my ECG and after I had converted back to a NSR it said I had a non-specific intraventricular conduction block. I understand that this is similar to a RBBB or LBBB but it’s not specific however I’ve read on AHA that this type of block leads to increased sudden death and cardiac mortality. I was hoping you could provide some information to explain exactly what has caused this or what is going on because I am completely lost and my doctor only explained it as “your QRS’s are just wide”. Thank you!

I had a pericardial effusion that kept slowly growing. Eventually had to have a pericardial window. Would love to see a video on it, with questions answered. Such as: will the window eventually close, can the effusion come back again?
Do u reckon it would have happened if the doctor gave u something like colchicine in its early stages?
@@kguitartunes3869 My cardiologist is very experienced and well regarded. He also sent me for second opinions. I didn’t have pericarditis, only the effusion, so colchicine wouldn’t have been useful.

Thank you for your video. I just had pericarditis with >2cm pericardial effusion two weeks ago. During my hospital stay, a Subxiphoid Pericardial Window procedure performed and with chest tube placed. 300 ml of fluid with color of "coke" was removed during surgery. I have been on high dose aspirin and colchicine since discharge but still experiencing significant short of breath while climbing stairs. Is it too soon to have constrictive pericarditis at this point?

Dr Gupta could you put a video our about L Theanine. I have Paroxymal Afib and take Eliquis and Bisoprolol. I don't know if L Theanine interacts with anticoagulants as I can't find any data but what I do know is that since taking it 200 mg twice a day my afib episodes are less frequent.

Of note Pericarditis is a common harmful event related to the Pfizer Cv19 “vaccine”. Both my 27 year old daughter and 30 year old son had it. She after one dose, he after the second. Hers took around 2 weeks to resolve, and she did not get the second.
