The fact that low foliage cover affects your dragon is hilarious. I’m just imagining some enemy standing and looking at a massive dragon then telling his boss that the bush your standing in makes it too hard to hit you.
On a side note:
If you move over water on the map while playing a Dragon Lord/Dragon Units, they fly.
Now, you can change the size of the wings on your dragon - and the smaller they are, the faster they flap! Or the smaller the bigger opposingly.
I am honestly surprised PotatoMcwhiskey did not choose "this Ashen War will end by my hand alone." Especially since the devs have stated that gives a secret ending but it is an incredibly hard to get one

Nice new video. A few remarks:
- Are summoms really nerfed? I mean how often did they survive 3 Turns to begin with in your army?
It just means focussing on non-summoned enemies is somewhat viable for the enemy. Also there might now be design space for a "banishment" type spell.
- I think you need to read the magic origin text again. They don't just _count_ as magic origin
- it seems like the AI is very focused on your dragon, whenever they can reach it. They do not take kills, going for a dragon in Shield Aura instead.
- somehow hitting _Retry_ at 45:15 made you fight the battle ;)
Truly a mystery for the ages...
I think the AI likes to focus your dragon so much is because the Dragon counts as a mythic unit as well as a hero. The AI is more likely to focus down heroes and they're also more likely to focus down mythics. Individually, the difference is usually not so massive as to cause the AI to be stupid and not finish off other units, but now that you can have a mythic hero, the AI just loses all sense of target priority and opts to always shoot the big lizard.

I was today years old and over 100 hours in AoW4 when I learned that Barbarian scouts can find outposts and cities.
One of the cooler things about this game is just how many fantasies it lets you create. I'm already thinking of Smaug the Golden with the single-city trait for his Lonely Mountain

I think he'd get more gold/mana from always selling dead heroes from the hoard gear than he could get from prison/crypt.
I enjoy that there are so many dragons stomping around the world, and then Acrion is just there, confused on why everyone is so large
That ancient governor synergies nicely with feodal faction mechanic of lords. You can get 40 science just from the dragon like that pretty early. Then it can be doubled or tripled lategame with specific buildings, one is inherent to feodal, other is from 4th order book.

When founding a city the outpost still remains as a building giving that -10 gold for some reason. U can dismantle that by Iirc (been a while since I’ve had time to play the game) clicking on the gear icon in the city display above the building icon and going to buildings.

I want to immediately start playing as a mystic Blue/Silver dragonlord with tome of evolution and every other tome with evolving elementals
In WoW , ''most'' dragon suffixes are (Male/Female): Red : Strasz/Strasza , Blue : Gos/Gosa , Green : Us/Ra , Bronze : Ormu/Ormi (weird exceptions like Anachronos and Chronormu who is actually female), Black : Ion/Ian and Ia for females, plus a lot of edgy non-draconic names.
I think Chromie is canonically a male dragon who likes to appear as a lady gnome. Not sure if it's a subtle nod to guys playing girl characters in video games because they like how they look or if Chromie is trans. Not sure it matters, to be honest.
@@jacobeden2083 could be mistaken but blizz has mentioned she is canonically trans, which is quite neat.
In a weird way, I feel like hero summons are better now, because the unit spawn in with full action points, meaning the AI will path toward your hero without know a t3 with drop adjacent to it with full action points leading to it making poor decisions in terms of a action point economy

Yes outpost upgraded to city have the bug of the -10 gold , but you can destroy the outpost building manually after upgraded to city to negate it.
No bug, you just clicked Retry instead of Watch Battle.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who forgets to give your founding city the whispering stone in the beginning lol. New expansion looks awesome!
... Oh boy... Tome of Evolution with Beasts is going to be absolutely broken. Spamming out spiders or wargs is gonna be scarily effective since they'll all have resurgence and as such become expendable in battles so long as you get good trades

Does Draconic Transformation give your race Animal tag just like Gaia's Chosen gives you plant tag? If it does Animal Kinship becomes insane
It gives your units the Dragon tag, which gives them the "draconic rage" ability, giving a damage bonus when low on health.
Green Dragons were not 'straszas' that's the Red ones
Green ones were mostly like
-ra for women and
-ithus / -ikus / -us for men

aww I was excited to jump back in with dragons now, guess you have early access.
Seems to me that a better way of creating the dragon is make them smaller. Then you can perceive where they are on the map and they don’t hide other units. The size is still big and it won’t change the effectiveness.
Can you prospect those mountains near your base for items for the dragon horde skill?

Hey PotatoMcwhiskey! Thank you all the funny and brutal gameplay videos. You were the main reason I bought this game. I really like AoW4. I'd like to ask if I buy the expansion pass, can i play with the dlc now? The release date for this dlc is 20/06. I'm a little confused. 😅
As someone who's kinda on the edge if I should buy this game or not.. I must say that I really like that the game let's you watch auto-resolve replays and choose to fight manually if you don't like the auto-resolve outcome.

Little cool suggestion regarding your Dragon Lord:
They are extremely strong. Even moreso, coming with the Skill Points you can place on them. You can quite literally make them a one-man Army and just annihilate most stacks.
Pick Nature Dragon. As for both the Aspects (Levels 4 & 12) pick Materium & Shadow (Nature works too). And for 8/16 pick Summon Animal and/or Mass Rejuvenation. Or, if one isn't available, pick the Frostfire Detonation.
As for the actual skill points themselves:
Tail swipe, Scales, Comet, Tail Bash, Quickening Breath, Nature Aura
Then you can focus on like more scales, Defense, etc., until you get around Mid-game / Late-game and you an reset your perks to syngergize more with the build as well as still being a One-Dragon Army.
This came from Ic0n Gaming's guide for his One-Man Dragon Army haha.

Has "Expanded Governance" (+1 city cap) imperium cost been nerfed ? For reference it costs 200(initial) + 300 *for each city you have above 4 in vanilla. For the initial cost I'm pretty sure it will be nerfed, just curious if the variable part was too. Thx
Glad to see you still enjoying the game. I'm about 130 hours in and just kinda hit my second wind with it. Additionally, the update and dlc have me psyched. kinda wish we got more than two tomes, but I'll take what I can get.
And now much later in the video, in response to your comment on folks getting fussy about the auto-combats: I think the commentating replays is totally fine, and often I end up using the late game, and even some mid-games, as more of an autobattler that I'll only really step in if I need to.

The thing with the dragon is tho - he has so many abilitys that just end turns. I did a run myself - where I started underground and didn't leave untill Turn 50 or so. In the madness scenario where everyone declares war on you. I could build up my Expierence on the Dragon and he was level 13 before fighting the first Ai.

The "bug" you encountered with the battle replay was just an honest misclick my dude. You definitely hit Retry by accident
man, rapid evolution makes auto resolve absolutely broken, it basically allows the AI to sacrifice the tier 1/tier 2 units at no cost to you.

The RED dragon women are called ..strasza, as in Alexstrasza.

Hi! An interesting series idea maybe would be to play through the games with default rulers. I did understand the basics of the game quite easily and learned fast thanks to your commentary! However, watching you play with the default rulers and utilizing their pre-built traits to the fullest potential would be an amazing thing to watch. It would also maybe allow u to switch ur playstyle a little bit (?)

49:22 Militarist is great. If you are recruiting Young Dragons, remember that those count as Fighters, so Militarist applies. (so does Artisan Armaments, Sundering Blades, etc.) (they get Evolve bonuses too)

For Warcraft dragons, their name endings depend on sex and flight. So, strasz for males, strasza for females (red dragons). The other flights have different naming conventions (gos, gosa for male/female blue dragons respectively) For green dragons the naming convention is -us like in Eranikus from sunken temple or -ra like in Ysera.
Small thing in the video to comment on, but hope this makes it more clear.

Imo Industrious is THE culture to go with Dragon Lords, you get tons of items for your hoard from prospecting. I don't think any other culture really compares.
Could you let us know if you got any notes for this run? I saw JumboPixel's early access vid and was curious if people playtesting have started laying down a build that green dragons are the go-to.
