You can enable headtracking when you use the motion controller. Uses the drone's physical yaw axis and the camera tilt to achieve that. You can get some interesting shots using that feature.
You're right. You can update at home. No update needed, but almost always it's neeeded out in the field.
Have the original mini, but probably enjoy flying in sports mode for the love of flying more than the cinematic ( have clocked it doing 45 kph ( 28 mph), in a nor west tail wind!). So, been thinking of FPV since, but have a 'wife error' message popup everytime I try to buy. The Avata is close to what I don't know what I want, but haven't found quite what I need it to be, to want enough and to override the ' wife error ' logic error... Still waiting, still wanting...

1 thing i learn about this video is dont let a bunch of old guys hang around with duck tape. they will get some crazy ideas.
Ken I had the same issue with the goggle sensor menu dohicky thingy with 2 fingers, SD card slot and getting the battery out but I really really like it.

You know you can use the FPV Goggles V2 instead of the new Goggles 2, and fly without wearing them. Old goggles also give better range and penetration. And who doesn't like better penetration.
But the Goggles 2 have head tracking. You need to try that. Turn your head you get yaw; and it will fight with the motion controller for yaw control, so don't tilt the controller while turning your head. Tilt head up and down just makes the gimbal go up and down.
I was pleasantly surprised that I received my AVANTA package in Lebanon TN just 3 days after I ordered it.
I’m sure the new goggles 2 look phenomenal, but it’s too bad you can’t use glasses. For those of us with astigmatism, we will never be able to see the screen clearly. 😢
They old goggles absolutely have worse penatration even with upgraded antennas. Nurk and others have tested this. New goggles are definitely better for penatration on the avata or even old air units and vistas.
hi Ken. bought DJI Avata this weekend. I haven't been able to fly yet, it's really bad weather. but luckily dji has a simulator. take advantage of that to gain some experience. do fly the Mavic 3 and mini 3 pro. definitely don't use that Motion controller. just the FPV controller. they have all been sold out in the Netherlands. have a 2nd Hand that works fine. understand all too well that fristyle users absolutely do not want these. it is perfect for the inexperienced FPV pilot like me

For those of us who already have the DJI FPV, our DJI FPV Remote Controller 2 works with both. I also think, at some point, DJI will open up the DJI Goggles 2 to work with other drones.

Hey Johhny, yes the controller 2 prices have changed quite a bit. DJI doesn't have any at the moment, but they have it at 179. Just insane what a few days did with those prices. I should have odered mine last week.
Great video, I have been flying my Mavic zoom around with Dji RE goggles for a couple of years loving the immersion experience of fpv. I am not a tinkerer and builder so was put off the regular fpv drones & the full acro/manual seemed difficult. So my gateway drug is on order soon, I will be one of the cool kids with my lanyard flying in the wind.
DJI Avata is a very tough FPV drone,
I have an Avata and it fell into a pool more than 1.5 meters deep for more than 1 minute, and it wasn't damaged or short-circuited...
After it sank, everything went normally until now, I have a video of the sinking..

you should try the headtracking using the motion controller its use for flying sideways or starfing left and right using the motion controller
Ive been waiting for you to review this - I know you were negative on the original DJI FPV so wanted to know how the Avata stacked up
i wonder if theres a way to use eye tracking and head tracking to increase accessibility for the handicapped.

You can fly it without the googles, as long as you have the goggles connected to a secondary monitor like a phone or tablet,

just got mine yesterday. i got to say i do love the goggles after i put on all my upgrades they will be soso amazing. i do like the motion controller for flying this drone with head tracking on. if they make this backwards compatible with the old vista and air units this will be 100% a beautiful upgrade. cant wait for the 03 air unit to put on a real drone lol

Hi Ken. I looked on eBay and currently some scalper is trying to get $380 bucks for the controller 2 and Amazon a scalper has risen the price up to $250 bucks, not necessarily new from reviews.

im using a sandisk extreme plus 128g sd card in drone it records for 3.32s then restarts a new file so i get 3 files per flight. am i not using the right sd card?

Can the motion controller "strafe" fly sideways or can it only go forward in the direction its camera is pointing? Yes I know about tank turret mode where it uses the goggles to "look". But can the motion controller fly sideways?
I would get one but having a spotter is a pain for me. No one says anything about that.

The AVATA has 3 times the flight time of the Bee also. So buy 3 batteries for the Bee and tell us the price, DUH. You might want to read up on settings, etc. instead of just coming off as an idiot to those of us that know how to fly the AVATA. BTW flies fine with the goggles on the top of your head and watching a tablet plugged in to the port
