My 4 month old son had severe reflux, terrible colic and eczema to scalp and both upper extremities. Always irritable during feeds (both during nursing and with formula) He then developed blood in the stool shortly thereafter. After a couple weeks on Nutramigen, his temperament completely changed. A whole new baby! At the one year mark, I began slowly reintroducing dairy following a British milk ladder system. He is now a 2.5 year old milk monster!
My son had severe reflux with little to no weight gain at well visits. Ended up testing his stool where they did microscopically see blood. He was switched to nutramigen formula and did significantly better. We were referred to a gastroenterologist and at 7 months did the yogurt challenge where he passed with flying colors and we haven’t had any dairy issues since and he’s now 17 months!
My 3 month old had all the symptoms you mentioned minus the blood/mucus in stool. He had watery diarrhea, eczema on his cheeks, severe reflux, congestion and colic. His temporary pediatrician (regular one is on maternity leave) would not even entertain the idea. So I switched him to Similac alimentum myself and he has been a different baby! Its only been a week & a half but he's been remarkably better. He does have to take pepcid for reflux.
I'm sorry the pediatrician didn't entertain the idea. Like I mention in this video, it's a trial period without dairy and it seems like the trial period helped your baby, and I'm so glad it did!
I thought my daughter had lactose intolerance because we had to switch her to plant based formula due to severe diarrhea with regular formula. So this is really an allergy to cows milk protein?? Wow you teach me so much. She also has pretty bad eczema that I'm considering dupixent for. She is 19 months now. I would love a video on your thoughts on dupixent for eczema. We've been using steroids since she was 6 months. Yes I know I know, not supposed to be beyond 2 weeks. But it gets so bad when we stop. That's why I'm thinking about dupixent.
My son was dx at 2.5 weeks due to blood mucus in his diaper. He also had horrible baby acne that would not go away. Once he started hypoallergenic formula, the acne on his face improved immediately. Otherwise he had no other symptoms.
My daughter had blood and mucous in her stools at 2 months but otherwise very happy and no reflux. The ped diagnosed her with CMPA so I cut out all dairy and soy right away(breastfeeding exclusively). It got better then worse at 4 month so we suspected another allergy. I’ve now also cut eggs, wheat, tree nuts, and peanuts for almost two weeks. She has more yellow poop but still some blood and mucous. Not as bad so I think it’s just slowly getting better. Do you recommend seeing an allergist at this point? She’s 5 months and I’ve been nervous about starting her on solids next month with not really knowing what she is allergic to.
Firstly, you're a super woman for cutting out all of those things - I know it is not an easy thing to do! Since it's getting better you might not need an allergist, but I would talk in grave detail with your pediatrician about what foods to introduce and when (they know your baby/situation better than me).

Love this! The dairy ladder can be very helpful.

Hi Dr. Mona! Thanks for this video. What are your thoughts on probiotics for 7mo with CMPA?
There is no convincing evidence showing that probiotics help with it, but if you find that it's helping keep using it!

Glad to teach you something. I have a whole video on eczema you should check it out!

My 1 month old at the time had reflex, eczema, and pooped 9+ times a day. It was scary.
It can be very scary and as a parent you feel hopeless.
