@@rocknroller77 She did have body work done. About 20/30 years ago she had a breast reduction. What she had been "blessed with" began causing her serious back problems.
Yeah, Dolly once had a TV show on ABC and she would sometimes take questions from the audience. One time someone asked her how long it takes to do your hair. Dolly's response was "I don't know, I'm never there!"
Rap came so much later than these tunes you are reacting to...I've been listening to music since 60's teen...up until now. I remember the different periods...
Talking about giving another singer a kiss. Dolly was to present Best New Countru Artist award to Charley Pride. They know that 16:53 Dolly is big at giving hugs and kisses, and they told her not to give Charley Pride a kiss on stage on live TV when she presented the award, but she did it anyway.
Kenny Rogers was a very happily married man when he performed this song with Dolly Parton. In his contracts for movies and television, it stated very clearly that he would not kiss his female costars on the lips, because he honored his marriage vows. That is a true man!
When Dolly says "excuse me, Kenny", it's because she accidentally stepped on Kenny's foot. This is also how you can tell this was a _true_ live performance and they weren't lip-syncing.
And she’s so “Southern polite” that she apologized right in the middle of a live performance. Shoot, she’s so tiny though, Kenny probably said “What was that, a mosquito?” Lol
Kenny Roger's was born and raised in Houston, Texas. As a teenager, my cousin and I would go see him and his band performing at Foley's Department Store downtown Houston in the 60"s. I have so much indirect connection with Kenny Rogers through friends, family members, and husband. It's not even funny.. My husband was in the Texas National Guard with him. They would sing together. Kenny loved Texas as this is what he said after being a star. " I am a Texan and that is not something you can even just set aside " I feel the same as I am a also born and raised in Houston Texas and it will always have my Heart ! Rest in peace Kenny so many people loved you and so did Houston !
This song was written by the Bee gees and Kenny Rogers was going to record it. . During the rehearsal the Bee Gees and Kenny Rogers said the song needed Dolly Parton. Noone knew how to reach her but one of the Recording Studio Workers said Dolly Parton had recorded there earlier in the Day and left her phone number in case the studio needed to contact her, The Bee gees call Dolly Parton and she rushed to the Studio. She was excited to sing a Bee Gees song and do a duet with Kenny Rogers.
I remember reading that the first idea for just for Kenny to sing it, but felt it was lacking with just him, so he jumped at the chance to do with with Dolly.
I heard that it was Kenny Rogers idea to have Dolly on it. He told Barry that it should be a duet and suggested Dolly. I have a hard time believing that Kenny did not have Dolly's phone number since they were close friends.
"She Believes in Me" is a Kenny classic. "9 to 5" was a huge hit for Dolly. Someone asked Dolly if her boobs were really hers and she replied "Of course they are. And I paid good money for them!". She graced the cover of Playboy magazine as a bunny back in 1978 and still looks great at 77 today. Everything about Dolly, inside and out, is beautiful.
Dolly's husband Carl Dean, who she met outside a laundromat when she first arrived in Nasville, let her know early on that she could do whatever she wanted, but he wanted no part of touring and celebrity. She does her job and goes home to him. Dolly is a serious, loving, generous Christian woman. Her Imagination Library has distributed millions of books to children - I hard cover book every month from birth to age 5 - which she does to honor her father who couldn't read. Her theme park, Dollywood, employs most of her family and most of Seviere County, Tennessee. There was a devastating fire in that area a few years ago that wiped out everything people had. Dolly got her charity involved and gave all those families a guaranteed income for a time, then gave them all a $5000 surprise at the end of the program. I swear we ought to put the woman in government - she has vision & gets things done. She's an Angel on earth.
If we had Dolly as President one of the first things she would tackle would be shelter for the Homeless, then she would make sure there were plenty of jobs, She would bring in more affordable housing for the low income, and she would also focus on education. Which are all things that need to be addressed which is something nobody has even thought about since at least 1963. We all know who was talking about all of those topics.
Dolly is a classy Lady she has done a lot for the poor. Kenny has also helped with different organizations. They are great singers together. The Bee Gees wrote this and they sung it🔥❤️❤️
I love Dolly Parton and a huge fan... But the good Christian woman is between her and her God... You can't look at a person and tell... at least that's what my Bible says... We can't judge... People love to say that when some one is obviously sinning but it goes both ways... She is sweet.... Generous.... Loving.... She is all that.... But only God can judge her and the bible say be ye holy for I am Holy... Dolly does some pretty unholy things... But hey that's your opinion... THIS IS NOT TO DISS DOLLY I am a HUGE fan and have raised my kid vacationing @ Dollywood and I know what she has done for... * Her community *Literacy *Especially her family also how she treats her family.... But good doesn't get you to heaven.... Nether does good works.... I was there right after the fire... We went the year before and after... She is amazing.... She also donated $1,000,000 to the storm victims recently.... And she also employees the majority of her family (and they can sing too) as well as the Kingdom heirs regularly sing there (gospel group) so she tried... Let's say we says she believes in God (in my interpretation of the scriptures) but she is the only one who knows. I am not being ugly and I am not trying to be controversial but there is a lot we see on the other side of Dolly... I love her sweet heart and pray you are right...but we don't get to heaven by our works though faith with our works is dead... Jesus said if you put ANYTHING BEFORE ME YOU ARE NOT WORTH OF ME & IF YOU LIVE IN SIN YOU MAKE GOD THE GOD OF SIN... none are perfect but we must 1st... Seek the kingdom... Born again without a sinful life and I followed Dolly she believes & support things that God says isn't right.. ( I wasn't even going to put this but here we are... I CAN'T HIDE THE TRUTH) Thanks & God bless Please understand just an old pastors opinion.... Have a good life... Seek ye 1st the kingdom
@@thevoiceofreason6712 "Christians" like you are the exact reason I don't go to church. Just shut the hell up and live your life without trying to preach this holier than thou self righteous bullshit. You sound like one of those homeless nut jobs babbling about everyone not being good enough to get into heaven on the side of the road with a megaphone.
Dolly is an icon to many other icons. She's not only a phenominal singer/songwriter, she's a major philanthropist. Her net worth would be a lot more if she didn't give so much of it away. And, I read somewhere that when she writes a song, she writes the music for each instrument. One more thing, she created her image and she has never hidden the fact that plastic surgery, very expensive wigs, makeup, etc are very important to her. She once said in an interview: “It takes a lot of time and money to look this cheap, honey”.
There are many great performers out there. She is special because of her philanthropy. Some of which is known, but I'm sure there are a ton she did anonymously too.
She's just a truly kind person. Someone told her the name of something at Dollywood was offensive, and instead of trying to defend it or say people were too sensitive (an all too common reaction), she just said she'd have it changed. "“As soon as you realise that [something] is a problem, you should fix it. Don’t be a dumbass. That’s where my heart is. I would never dream of hurting anybody on purpose.”
OH my I just had a thought Angelina Jordon & Dolly need to meet they’re very similar in Traits , & I bet Dolly will be amazed in Angelina…… AJ needs to sing I will always love you ( made more famous by Whitney Houston) always like listening from your perspective….love Dolly & Ken ,thanks 😎 great reaction always
In an interview a few years ago she was asked "what do you want people to say about you a hundred years from now"? She replied that she hoped they would say "you sure do look good today".
Hi from the UK. Kenny and Dolly were absolute best friends and she was beyond sad when he passed away. One fun fact that will rock your world, this was written by the Bee Gees and yes, this is the original.
Yes! You were indeed thinking of "Ghetto Supastar (That Is What You Are)", the song by American rapper Pras, featuring rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard and R&B singer Mýa. Produced by Pras and Wyclef Jean, with co-production from Jerry 'Wonda" Duplessis and Che Pope, it interpolates Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton's 1983 single "Islands in the Stream", as written by the Bee Gees, and samples "Get Up, Get into It, Get Involved" by James Brown. "Ghetto Supastar (That Is What You Are)" is an awesome song, which was featured on the soundtrack for the 1998 film "Bulworth" starring Warren Beatty, and was released as Pras' debut solo single and the second from his debut solo album Ghetto Supastar on June 6, 1998. 🔥
I've heard a version of "Islands in the Stream" sung by the Bee Gees, or maybe just Robin, where he finishes up the song singing "Ghetto Supastar, that is what you are" at the tail end. I was surprised, but it made me smile :)
@@tarynkirchen5961Yes! The Bee Gee's did a studio "cover version" of the song they'd written for Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. The Bee Gees new studio version originally appeared on their career retrospective greatest hits album "Their Greatest Hits: The Record", which I've had since its release in 2001. The lead vocalist on the track was Robin Gibb. The chorus of Pra's 1998 hit "Ghetto Supastar", which in turn is a reworking of the original Rogers and Parton release, replaces the final chorus in this studio recording. 😊
Dolly has been married to Carl Dean since they first saw one another when she first came to Nashville. I think it was 1962. He wants to be a completely out of the limelight and just live his life and he understands her career, writing music and singing, and performing and sharing her talent With millions! She is also a brilliant songwriter and businesswoman. do you need to see her bio pic called coat of many colors which is also a song. She grew up in abject poverty of the great smoky mountains in Tennessee. She lived in a log cabin with no running water and she was one of eight children; One of which died I believe during childbirth. Prior to her going out on her own, she was teamed with a musical partner Porter Waggoner. She wrote I will always love you for him. She also wrote Jolene on the same day. Elvis Presley wanted to record. I will always love you and it looked like it was a done deal till Elvis‘s manager demanded 50% of the songwriting credit and monies from the song. Parton turned him down. Parton also always said the things that Whitney did with that song made it Whitney song, but she got a lot of money because of what Whitney did with it. Dolly is simply phenomenal and she has never forgotten her people back in Sevierville, Tennessee. Her father could never learn to read, and so she founded the imagination library which gives a book a month to children from the day that they’re born until I believe they turn the age of five. Yes she’s had tons of surgeries and always wears a wig, but to me, unlike Kim Kardashian, there is still an innocence about her and her true nature and heart.
Dolly Parton wrote and was the original recorder of “I Will Always Love You.” It was the most recorded song of all time by different artists. Elvis was supposed to record it but Colonel Parker wanted Dolly to sign the song over to Elvis and she wouldn’t do it. I am pretty sure she made the right choice. Lol She wrote “Jolene” also. “Islands In the Streams” was written by The Bee Gees and recorded by Dolly and Kenny in 1983.
They've been best friends, colleagues forever. They always flirted with each other but they always respected each other. Everyone used to think there was something going on between them.
I'll always remember watching a TV programme of a concert they were doing together. Kenny knocked on the door of Dolly's trailer and before going in said "Dolly, are you decent?" Dolly replied "No, but I try to be" She's a legend.
It’s been said that in person, Dolly actually has a’glow’ that surrounds her and that she smells like cotton candy. I am too old to ever get the chance to see her live in concert but I’m so happy to have lived in a time which Dolly existed! A very sweet tune that she shares with Kris Kristofferson, is called “From Here To The Moon and Back”….if interested.
When I was growing up in the south, a woman built like Dolly Parton was called "Healthy". The Southeastern U.S. and Appalachia was settled by German, English, Scottish and Irish immigrants. They were peasants and many had been descended from the Norse who had invaded their lands centuries before. Many of my ancestors just a few generations back were built like Vikings, barrel chested and apple shaped. Built for farming and fighting.
@@spruce381 Many etymologists dispute this since the term "hillbilly" was unknown in the US until after the Civil War (first time used in print was 1898). "Hillbilly" was used in southern Scotland in the 1600's to refer to a large group of especially staunch Presbyterians who followed the preacher William Cameron and fled to the hills because of religious persecution. "Billie" was a Scottish slang word that meant companion. BTW, I am a glorious mix of Scottish (both Highland and Border Clans), Irish, English, Scots-Irish, with German Flemish and Dutch mixed in for fun. I call myself a Wisconsin hybrid since all of my ancestors were in the state before 1855. Some came from Europe and some from back east but all saw how beautiful and fruitful it was and stayed, as did their descendants.
That is a great song. They made a movie out of it, but i'm afraid to watch it. I cry all the way through the song, I know I would be blubbering all the way through the movie.
Released in 1983, the guys from the BeeGee's wrote and composed the song for Kenny and Dolly. The BeeGee's themselves performed it also. It has been covered by numerous talents. Great Song!! A true classic!!! Dolly was married to Carl Thomas Dean at the time of this performance and many, many others. Now, I am sure he had his time thinking about all the male performers that she sang with. But that is one of the reasons he has always been in the background. Dolly's professional life and private life were always keep a good distance apart. God bless all of them, they gave us mountains of music to remember.
2 ultimate performers. They know how to work with each others. Islands in the Stream" is a song written by the Bee Gees and recorded by American country music artists Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. It was released in August 1983. They didn't call Kenny Rogers the Silver Fox for nothing.
Notice that they are so good that there are no flashing lights, smoke, fireworks, skimpy outfits and backup singers on the stage. This real entertainment and talent.
Dolly was in her town with her mother who saw this woman , street walker in effect, and Dolly openly says she modelled herself on the look. NO ONE ever sees Dolly without the full make up and wigs but she can look as she likes as she is a superb artist, producer creator of the hit film and stage show - 9 to 5. and general business woman who aims to help her Smokey Mountain people who were very very poor. This is the drive behind her book and literacy drive. She is the real deal. PS The 9 to 5 show is brilliant.
You need to react to "We got Tonight" by Kenny and Dolly, live version and make sure to watch the video to the end to hear them joking around with each other. It is awesome.
Dolly is a spectacular lady. Truly. She is definitely a celebrity that I will cry over, when she passes. She is an icon. She and Kenny were good friends. Please tell me that you've done his "Lady". If not, you MUST
Barry Gibb (of the BeeGees) wrote this song, and that's why it's so darned good!! Now you need to listen to Kenny's songs "She Believes in Me" and "Lady." Then go listen to Dolly's song "Coat of Many Colors." Dolly lived in extreme poverty as she was growing up. One winter, Dolly needed a new coat, and her mother sewed her one from scraps of fabric. She then told Dolly the story from the Bible about Joseph and his coat of many colors. The memory of that inspired Dolly to write the song, and I doubt you will be able to listen to it without getting a tear in your eye.
Barry did NOT write this song alone. Barry AND Robin wrote it together. In fact the title and idea came from Robin from an Ernest Hemingway novel that Robin had just read. On their "Greatest hits-the record" it was Robin who sang this song. Robin was also the ONLY Bee Gee who had a solo #1 in several countries with "Juliet" and a top 40 hit "Oh Darling" from the Sergeant Pepper movie.
I agree with the earlier replies. She still is beautiful inside and out, and I too am a rock and roll guy, but how can you not love Dolly? She truly is a national treasure!
Kenny and Dolly have been close friends for decades. There were always rumors of them being romantically involved but they always denied it. They recorded a song near the end of Kenny's life called 'You can't make old friends'. It's really good and shows how you can be good, strong friends and not be married or a couple.
Dolly has had lots of surgeries - and freely admits it. She's always said that if something needs to be nipped or tucked or lifted, then she's got no problem having it done.
Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton were longtime collaborators and friends for decades, but they never dated, and in an interview in 2017, they explained why not. "I'm a believer that tension is better if you keep it than if you satisfy it," Rogers joked during an interview on the Today show. "And then secondly, she said no to me." "I'm not his type," Parton retorted before sharing that the real reason the two never got together was that he felt more like family to her than a romantic partner. "Nah. You know what, we were almost like brother and sister. And it would almost be like incest. So we just never went there."
Coward of the County by Kenny is a song that all men that have loved their partner can understand. Dolly wrote I Will Always Love You & is very grateful for all the money she made from Whitney Houston's cover
Some of us met Kenny in the 60's when he was fronting a band called the First Edition. He did a song called Ruby about a disabled war veteran that struck a powerful cord with the Viet Nam generation. They also did a song I think called "condition" which went "I just checked in. to see what condition my condition is in"
Ruby is a great song. The song "Condition" figured prominently in the movie The Big Lebowski. (Quite possibly the funniest movie ever made, but very NSFW or family- it averages 1.5 "f-bombs" per minute!)
This is the number one country duet of all time. Written by the Bee Gees, Kenny didn't like the song really and didn't want to record it but Dolly convinced him to do it and it became a huge hit.
Kenny and Dolly just had special chemistry, they said in interviews there are different kinds of soul mates and they were soul mates like a brother and sister. They did a song about 30 years after Islands called You Can't Make Old Friends and talked about their friendship. Dolly started her career doing duets with her mentor Porter Wagoner and she's sang with a lot of people in her career but her songs with Kenny were special. Kenny was married 5 times in his life, Dolly only once and still is to her husband Carl Dean, who from reports has memory issues and despite her megastar career has always stayed out of the limelight and she's protected his privacy. He let her pursue her show biz dreams and she let him enjoy his private life, he owns a paving company and she said the secret to their success was spending so much time apart and when they did reunite, they appreciated each other. Believe it or not, Dolly has said they would go out and travel in a camper together and Dolly apparently enjoys a trip thru the drive thru at Taco Bell on occasion. She is a very real person.
Oh no, Dolly has had so much success and given so much love, but has had so much tragedy, from not being able to have kids, to now her husband possibly having Alzheimer’s. She is a strong woman, to face life full on with humor and grace.
Back when they first performed this song, their chemistry was so good that there were rumors about something between them. They dispelled the rumors right away.
I love watching you . I love seeing people who can really see how everyone can appreciate good music and see every culture has great great abilities. I am blown away at 68 all the young artist who have beautiful solid vocals. I love classics but let’s be real I am floored watching all the new artist and what they have to offer and see the talent in every culture and six year olds who have unbelievable talent. I love seeing reactions and appreciation for music they have never heard . All I can say is there is young talent that have me hitting play over and over.
This was originally written for Marvin Gay by the Bee Gees. This was a later version of the Marvin Gay classic. It spent a good long time in the Billboard top 40, even making it to the top 10 for a while.
Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers have always been one of the best duos ever. Just so you know Dolly and Kenny have had a lifelong friendship. They truly have an amazing friendship and loved each other
Love this song, with two great singers, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, fantastic. Other songs I love by Dolly Parton are 'Jolene', '9 to 5', and 'Coat of Many Colours'. Re Kenny Rogers, some favs are 'Coward of the County', 'Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town', and 'The Gambler'. Thanks so much for your reaction.😊😊
Dolly a wonder person. She will tell you she has work done to stay lady like and beautiful which she is. Never over done. And Kenny well what can I say thats Kenny Rogers. Oh My God that Kenny Rogers ❤❤❤❤❤
Dolly was also friends with Kenny’s wife for many years. This song was covered by a bunch of people.but Kenny and Dolly released it in 1983 first. Believe it or not! Dolly was overweight when she was young. She went on a diet and lost the weight, but did not lose up top.same. She has maintained her weight all these years. Which shows she not only a talented singer and actress, a genius songwriter , an amazing businesswoman, beautiful, and kind, but a woman of iron will.
Kenny Rogers' wife, Marianne, started out on the show Hee Haw where she played a Southern Belle who sat on a porch swing and participated in various stories and jokes. She was absolutely gorgeous.
Dolly was on the legends stage in Glastonbury a few years ago - she had thousands upon thousands eating out of the palm of her hands - she is a beautiful, captivating human
Make sure you don't sleep on Kenny Roger's song called "Through the Years". If you have anybody in your life who has been with you through thick and thin, through happy and sad, and through ups and downs...and they're still with you to this very moment this is the song that celebrates this kind of love. Could be romantic love. Could be daddy's little girl. Could be the best mom in the universe. Could be your friend group that have had your back since 2nd grade. This is my favorite Kenny Rogers song because it's one of those songs that REQUIRES you to tear up, even if you hear it shopping at the grocery store. There is no better tribute to all the best people in your life.
Kenny was so down to earth, I can't count on 2 hands how many times I've seen him live and met him several times as my time as an Event planner and coordinator. Last time I saw him he gave me the best hug in greeting! I even once joined him on stage it was a great honor and one of the best memories of my life!
Despite having many hits before the disco era, the Bee Gees and their music were synonymous with disco. They went underground for a bit and during that time wrote for other artists. Kenny & Dolly, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, and Celine Dion
Dolly has written hundreds of songs and her songs have been covered by nearly every genre. Dolly is still married and Kenny was dear friends of most of their family until he passed.❤
I was fortunate to be a young kid in the 80s whose Mom ❤d this. Besides the Dolly & Kenny team up being FIRE....written by my all time favorite Barry Gibb. It doesn't get better than this!!!! ❤❤❤
Keny and Dolly do this so beautiful. Kenny also did a song with Home Free Children Go Where I Send Thee. Kenny asked them to do that with him. It was so awesome. It was not too long after that that Kenny passed away. Home Free also did a tribute to Kenny after he passed away and covered The Gambler. Kenny and Dolly made this song so awesome. Love your reaction,
Dolly and Kenny have another duet that they sang together in 2013- "You Can't Make Old Friends". It's so sweet with the two of them. I love them both. ❤
She does have a very witty sense of humor. She is a legend both on the stage and in real life. She never forgot where she came from and never let stardom go to her head, even though she would've had every right to.
Although I love them both - and even more after seeing them in concert together, you haven't lived until you hear Dolly's giggle. Watch "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas". You will not only laugh through the film, but you will "bust a gut" when Dolly giggles. Thank you so much for sharing your first takes on singers we have loved for many, many years. You are refreshing to watch and listen to.
Was blessed to see them in concert. It was my first experience of Dolly and I fell in love. Shockingly, she was performing in severe pain and went to the hospital right after, would never have known.
Dolly and Kenny where amazing friends and they did a number of songs together. It’s no shocker that Dolly is also smart like really smart. And the wealthiest female country singer ever.
Jolene is an amazing and true song. I love Dolly's version then there's version by Miley Cyrus, one with Miley and her sister, and one with Dolly and Miley together. Dolly is Miley's Godmother! ❤
Dolly and Kenny have been the best of friends forever. That's why they are so comfortable with each other on stage. They are just friends. If you want to see a good movie with Dolly in it, watch 9-5, Or pull up her video and she sings that song. Great song also.
Dolly Parton is amazing and everything she's ever written or written for anyone else or sung.. He's alive, the live version Don't make me come down there, The world's on fire video live version❤❤❤
Dolly always admitted that nature hadn't made her like that. Even from her first wig. Somehow she managed to send the message, that even though she wasn't ashamed of her choices, no young women need to do the same to be beautiful. - Probably helped that she never sold make-up or clothes.
She’s very open about having work done and her famous line is it takes a lot of money to look this cheap, I love dolly
Her face, not her body. Not at this point at least. (I dont know if she ever had any on her body), Dolly and Kenny are ❤
@@rocknroller77 She did have body work done. About 20/30 years ago she had a breast reduction. What she had been "blessed with" began causing her serious back problems.

Yep.
They produced it and sang back up on it also.
And then recorded their own version about 5 years or so later

Kenny Roger's was married many times I believe at least once for infidelity. Never with Dolly Parton.
They are friends.
I really appreciate that you allow your audience to listen without undue interruption. Your comments are very insightful and thoughtful.
When Dolly says "excuse me, Kenny", it's because she accidentally stepped on Kenny's foot. This is also how you can tell this was a _true_ live performance and they weren't lip-syncing.
No Autotune either 😊

It was Barry's idea to call Dolly and Kenny jumped at the chance. They made one of the most successful duos in Country music.
I remember reading that the first idea for just for Kenny to sing it, but felt it was lacking with just him, so he jumped at the chance to do with with Dolly.
They actually wrote the song for Marvin Gaye
Thanks for the lovely backstory 👍
I heard that it was Kenny Rogers idea to have Dolly on it. He told Barry that it should be a duet and suggested Dolly. I have a hard time believing that Kenny did not have Dolly's phone number since they were close friends.
Dolly always had an hour glass figure- very strong, very feminine, very intelligent, very naturally talented. The original OG
I think she said " it takes a lot of money to look this cheap "..
That was a different quote. She said both.
Dolly is a national treasure.
I swear we ought to put the woman in government - she has vision & gets things done. She's an Angel on earth.
Amen, Dolly should be in politics! Dolly Parton for president!
* Her community
*Literacy
*Especially her family
also how she treats her family....
I CAN'T HIDE THE TRUTH)
Thanks & God bless
Please understand just an old pastors opinion....
Dolly Parton is an American treasure!
Kenny and Dolly are like Conway and Loretta...just musical magic.
Kenny Rogers song 'Lady' is beautiful. Highly recommend.
The Bee Gees struck again! Love 'em both.
The Bee Gees were writing some amazing songs for other artists from Islands in the Stream to Woman in Love to Heartbreaker. Immense talent 😍👋
I would LOVE to watch @Black Pegasus react to “Woman in Love”!!! Barbra Streisand at her best 🙌💯🎉❤️💐
@@goosebump801or Diana Ross.
Yes, the OG 😊
They wrote it as an R&B tune for Marvin Gaye
To know Dolly and Kennys friendship is to love the music
Can’t stop tha shinin’
@@stephenstrudwick8095 They also performed a Live version on "One Night Only" and Barry was lead. phenomenal performance.
R.I.P. ODB. 😢
Dolly loves to say “It costs a lot of money to look this cheap!” 🤣
She is not all-natural, but she is EVERYTHING!
Dolly was built like that naturally, but over the years she had surgery to maintain that look.
@@snezzevpexactly
Dolly Parton wrote and was the original recorder of “I Will Always Love You.” It was the most recorded song of all time by different artists. Elvis was supposed to record it but Colonel Parker wanted Dolly to sign the song over to Elvis and she wouldn’t do it. I am pretty sure she made the right choice. Lol
She wrote “Jolene” also.
“Islands In the Streams” was written by The Bee Gees and recorded by Dolly and Kenny in 1983.
They've been best friends, colleagues forever. They always flirted with each other but they always respected each other. Everyone used to think there was something going on between them.
Before Kenny died he said he always loved Dolly
They're both happily married (to other people).
Kenny and Dolly. Two of the best in the history of music.
Me too ! My families been here since the 1600s. Almost entirely colonial
And I have 15% Sweden and Norway and 2 Finnish countries
Yes indeed !
Scots/irish - followers of king William - Billy - in the Appalachians became known as hillbillies.
@@spruce381 I did not know that ! Interesting , thanks for the information . 🙏
Dolly has a great spirit and personality. A truly great Soul
YES this is the Original written by the one and only Bee Gees won 1984 ACM for single of the year ,AMA favorite country single,CMA single of the year.
They are great writers!
They originally wrote it as an R&B tune for Marvin Gaye
The Bee Gees wrote it for Kenny and he picked Dolly to sing with him. 3 worlds collide
We definitely need Kenny Rogers "Coward of The County" at some point! That's a true G song!
That is a great song. They made a movie out of it, but i'm afraid to watch it. I cry all the way through the song, I know I would be blubbering all the way through the movie.
@@missyvinson6220good movie, you must watch it!
That's b/c you're watching/listening to true talent!
Bloody love this song!! These two have such chemistry!!
I love Kenny Rogers!! She believes in me is my favorite song!!
I love this song. It’s amazing how many good songs The Bee Gees wrote for other artists. Dolly and Kenny had great chemistry.
It is awesome.
agree
That's Sheena Easton, not Dolly.
Dolly is a spectacular lady. Truly. She is definitely a celebrity that I will cry over, when she passes. She is an icon. She and Kenny were good friends. Please tell me that you've done his "Lady". If not, you MUST
Their Christmas albums are awesome, timeless wonderful. They have colabed many times
For a time, I genuinely believe that Dolly Parton was the most beautiful person alive. Inside and out.
She still is. She's incredible and I'm a rock and roll girl
I've always heard that from people who have met her...
Do Dolly's song "JOLENE" next...
I agree with the earlier replies. She still is beautiful inside and out, and I too am a rock and roll guy, but how can you not love Dolly? She truly is a national treasure!
💯💯👍👍
Kenny and Dolly have been close friends for decades. There were always rumors of them being romantically involved but they always denied it. They recorded a song near the end of Kenny's life called 'You can't make old friends'. It's really good and shows how you can be good, strong friends and not be married or a couple.
Dolly has had lots of surgeries - and freely admits it. She's always said that if something needs to be nipped or tucked or lifted, then she's got no problem having it done.
I love her quote “It costs a lot of money to look this cheap.” She owns her look and isn’t ashamed of what it took to get that look.
You're witnessing heaven on earth😂❤these 2 were magic, never can be copied🙏
Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton were longtime collaborators and friends for decades, but they never dated, and in an interview in 2017, they explained why not.
"I'm a believer that tension is better if you keep it than if you satisfy it," Rogers joked during an interview on the Today show. "And then secondly, she said no to me."
"I'm not his type," Parton retorted before sharing that the real reason the two never got together was that he felt more like family to her than a romantic partner.
They also did a song I think called "condition" which went "I just checked in. to see what condition my condition is in"
Mel Tillis wrote Ruby, based on a Korean War vet,in his town whose wife, Ruby, was his nurse.
One day, he shot Ruby, then turned the gun on himself.
Yes! Ruby! BP-- You have to hear that one.
Ruby is a great song. The song "Condition" figured prominently in the movie The Big Lebowski. (Quite possibly the funniest movie ever made, but very NSFW or family- it averages 1.5 "f-bombs" per minute!)
Rueben James
Actually the band was the fifth dimension.
Dolly got Taco Bell to bring back a dish they had discontinued. A taco pizza thing, I think.
@@Morgaineomg that’s amazing, hell, I too would do whatever Dolly asked me to!
Oh no, Dolly has had so much success and given so much love, but has had so much tragedy, from not being able to have kids, to now her husband possibly having Alzheimer’s. She is a strong woman, to face life full on with humor and grace.
Love ❤❤❤ Can’t Make Old Friends!!
Dolly and Kenny were great friends and when he died she Lost her close friend.❤❤❤❤
Kenny's "Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town" is really good and worth a listen!
Back when they first performed this song, their chemistry was so good that there were rumors about something between them. They dispelled the rumors right away.
This is what a live performance should sound like.
Black Pegasus would lose his mind if he did Kenny Rogers "coward of the county"
Dude ‼️💯🔥
Good call!
100 %
Maybe also the made for TV Movie.
Just watched the reaction to it that he dropped yesterday.
Their live performance of we’ve got tonight shows how much they loved each other as friends and joking with each other
This was originally written for Marvin Gay by the Bee Gees. This was a later version of the Marvin Gay classic. It spent a good long time in the Billboard top 40, even making it to the top 10 for a while.
Dolly's voice just hits me in a way I can't explain.
She sounds like what would imagine angels sound like.
If you haven't reacted to Kenny Rogers Lady that is a must listen.
Any duet by Kenny and Dolly is great.
Lady performed by Kenny is a must!
When this song was released, it was EVERYWHERE, country, pop, top 40
In case no one told you, The Bee Gees wrote this song. They not only had a bunch of hit songs, they wrote a lot of songs for other artists.
They actually wrote this for Marvin Gaye as an R&B song
Amen to that.
Kenny was so down to earth, I can't count on 2 hands how many times I've seen him live and met him several times as my time as an Event planner and coordinator. Last time I saw him he gave me the best hug in greeting! I even once joined him on stage it was a great honor and one of the best memories of my life!
the "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing Baby" part is from Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell 1968 written by Ashford and Simpson
You need to see the live version of Lady, EPIC
Despite having many hits before the disco era, the Bee Gees and their music were synonymous with disco. They went underground for a bit and during that time wrote for other artists. Kenny & Dolly, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, and Celine Dion
Dolly has written hundreds of songs and her songs have been covered by nearly every genre. Dolly is still married and Kenny was dear friends of most of their family until he passed.❤
One of my absolute favorite songs ever. ❤Dolly always perfection and Kenny RIP. ♥️
The two of them had a long-time good friendship throughout their career. Two icons of the industry, Kenny will be missed.
One of my favorite movies 😂
Kenny & Dolly were lifelong friends. They had a wonderful chemistry. 2 of the best ❤
They had amazing performances and chemistry telling their stories that’s why they were so iconic!!
And BEYONCÉ!
Then you have Chapel Hart's response "You Can Have Him Jolene" which Dolly loved.
Dolly and Kenny have been the best of friends forever. That's why they are so comfortable with each other on stage. They are just friends. If you want to see a good movie with Dolly in it, watch 9-5, Or pull up her video and she sings that song. Great song also.
Nice one Peg! And yeah, thus is the OG version. Trust, me, Dolly had all of our eyes back in the day ☘️🇺🇲
And now. She’s still going
Dolly Parton is amazing and everything she's ever written or written for anyone else or sung..

They were the best of friends. Please Please react to them singing "You Can't Make old Friends." Now that he has passed this song really hits.
Indeed.... I just went and watched that video. It's absolutely Kenny and Dolly through and through.
I have always loved when they did stuff together, they were truely best friends and so much alike.
Another great BeeGees song they wrote...Kenny and Dolly ❤❤❤❤
One of the best aspects of your reviews is you are grounded in your faith and you are a legit man who speaks from experience and knowledge.
The Bee Gees wrote this. Facts.
One of the best vocal teams of all time... besties rock.
Dolly always admitted that nature hadn't made her like that. Even from her first wig.
Somehow she managed to send the message, that even though she wasn't ashamed of her choices, no young women need to do the same to be beautiful. - Probably helped that she never sold make-up or clothes.
It is not the Christmas season until I have listened to the Kenny and Dolly Christmas album
