Just came across your channel. I have an adhd diagnosis which I went for privately after being dismissed by doctors. The appointment was £500 here in Scotland and I believe in 6 months it has went up to£850. Doctors still dismissed my diagnosis, so would not provide medication fortunately this prompted NHS psychologist route. It has again been dismissed and instead I am being put fwd for psychodynamic therapy as they believe it is all down to attachment issues as a chilsy. I clearly identify with adhd so it is annoying to have to go through more channels, but I am also grateful for the support, even if it is misguided, so I will continue to plod along and do my own research and incorporate small changes that can help me. Good luck on your journey, I will keep an eye out. V
Congratulations!!! Although the process of assesments are different across the UK and Northern Ireland. I live in London, and getting a diagnosis varies from borough to borough.
Hi Savannah It's a big topic, there is a Yo Samdy Sam Iive stream on autism and comorbidities (autism and other conditions). But it prove in last 10 to 15 years. That with Aspergers/autism professional shouldn't rule out the main 4 condition which have behaviours of in aspergers/autism which are. ADHD/OCD/Tourette's/SPD. And learning disability to like dyslexia. They be a separate diagnoses. Dan has 4 ASD,OCD, ADHD and dyslexia.
I have dyspraxia, dyscalculia and an Auditory Processing Disorder. Which means the part of my brain used for hearing is impaired. I live in London, so when I was assessed for ADHD, the guy only had first hand knowledge of dyslexia. So really, it was a bit disappointing. I know if I was to get a full professional assesment done, I'd have to pay. I've been told that I may have a mixture of neurological disabilities that all overlap. So it's difficult to get a full diagnosis of one specific disability. There must be loads of people who are misdiagnosed because they've been told they have Asperger's when they could have ADHD, Dyslexia, ADD, OCD, etc.
Hey Savannah. I am sorry You are still suffering from the Cold. Well, ADHD is now considered to be Part of the Autism Spectrum, so it could well be, like Dyspraxia, a Co-Morbid condition with Autism. Yes, ADHD/ADD are both combined together into a Simple "ASD" Diagnosis now, along with all other forms of Autism, it all has a Blanket "ASD" Diagnosis now under DSM-V. Quite a Lot of those things You listed Describe Me as well, but, they are mostly the Ones that are also Generally Part of Autism. I have had a lot less to Worry about ever since I left the Education System as well. I am Sorry You have been finding all the Training to be so Difficult. Yes, it sounds like the Potential Undiagnosed ADHD is causing a Few issues with the Training Situation. I could not do Your Job I am afraid Savannah, as I am afraid to say I tend to React very Violently when People talk about Me like that :( I do hope You can get an Assessment Referral. However, it is true that the Waiting Lists have reached an absolutely Ridiculous level Now :( I don't have Hyperactivity, if anything I am Quite Lazy, however, I do have something of an Issue with Attention Span, if it is something that Interests Me, I will Hyper Focus and Pay attention for Hours, but, if I am not Interested, I rapidly "Tune out" and become Distracted by something and stop Paying Attention, I also get Confused extremely Easily. Yes, it does sound, from what You Describe, that You *might* have ADHD, but then, 90% of that list is also Basic Autism, the Similarities being why they just Lumped it under "Autism Spectrum Disorder" when they Streamlined Everything for DSM-V. You have a good Week too Savannah, and I do hope that cold Clears up Soon. Take care now. God Bless Bye.
