Where I live in south TX, it rarely gets cold enough for this heater. However a couple years ago we had a power outage during winter. So I bought one of these, as an emergency heat source. I now use it as a primary heat source, as it is far more efficient than electric heat.
I also have one of these although mine is the propane model. It is absolutely the best thing I have added to my garage. Have been using it for 3 years now with no issues at all. Warms my garage up to near 70 degrees with the heater set at the lowest temp setting when the outside temps are below freezing with no problem.
Yea, they really are awesome. It's so nice to be able to work out in my garage in a t-shirt in the middle of the winter. Same here, setting 1.5-2 keeps my poorly insulate garage at 70F no problem.
How long would a 30lb propane tank last though - that’s my only concern with the propane ones how long does a small tank of propane last on that unit does it last a week? Does it last three weeks?
Ihave the 30000 btu propane radiant heater. Its my only heat in 14x70 mobile home. Does a great job no matter how cold it gets. I live in indiana. had mine for 4 years now have to clean pilot light out once a year. best heaters made
I'm in Buffalo right now in the storm and have not had power for almost 72 hours (it's 14 degrees out) so I brought it in from the garage and hooked it up to where my dryer is and it's been the only thing keeping my house warm right now. I'm sitting in front of it as I type this.

I have this same heater hooked up to my natural gas for the last 11 years. II live near Boise Idaho. My home is 24x44 on the main floor and the entire main floor gets heated by this one unit. I use a dehumidifier to keep the water vapor from condensing. My place is well insulated niw but has not always been as the remodel has taken years while I work. We are happy with how it has been working for us.

It also elevates levels of benzene in your workshop for your breathing enjoyment and makes the air quality worse than a large city on a smoggy day. Do you ever notice those little tinge of a headache?
Just purchased the same heater at my local Closeout store only the LP model. They were priced at $139.00 and were factory reconditioned. I ask the stock guy to call his boss and see if he would take a $100.00 Cash and he did. Best $100.00 I’ve spent in a while. Was running a Dyna Glo K-1 heater but the price of fuel was killing me. Definitely worth the money!

Im seriously looking into such a heat source for my garage. Last winter i used a small space heater which has a very good fan and a separate fan feature which can be used to cool the unit before turning off (which most today dont have) My electric bill is typically around $70 to $90 per month the rest of the year, but ising that small space heater it jumped to $220!! Per month for the winter which is absolutely crazy. I have a single pipe, steam/radiator heat system in my 1941 home, with an oil furnace which is very efficient, .. so I'm currently trying to decide if its best to have a small wall hanging radiator added in the garage, or to get ine of these units.. 🤔 Decisions, decisions..
The temperature setting can be partial: partway between 1 and 2, for example. My fan setup is totally DIY, using a commonplace two motor window fan plugged into an SSR controlled by a super cheap temp controller from Amazon. The blue flame version is a better choice than the gates-of-hell radiant version unless nightmares where people you trusted push you into pools of lava or municipal incinerator furnaces like Batman and Robin on conveyor belts managed to escape etc etc are your preference.
My house is 2100sq ft I was quoted 16,900 to swap out my 100, BTU oil boiler heater. I bought 2 of these 30, BTU LP Heaters from Northern Tool for 179.00 each (100.00 cheaper than Depot or Lowe's) Problem Solved for $358.00
That was a great review of the product. I live north of Niagara Falls and the winter weather and wind is a real drain on the pocketbook. Like to see a test with a carbon monoxide reader over a length of time.
Thank you! When I was using the space heaters I had no idea how much they cost (about $0.20/hr) which adds up quickly, and they don't put out that much heat. I do have a carbon monoxide detector in the garage that has the little LCD screen that is supposed to display the level in ppm and recall what the highest level is. So far, it's been zero. I have only had that one for a few weeks, but I will let you know if it reads something.
Forget carbon monoxide, check out all the studies of how these things elevate levels of benzene inside your home that are far beyond health and safety standards. They are garbage.
I’m in south Texas and I been using this old natural gas heater for my pets for many years. But I’m worried it could break down and I would need a new one. But I wasn’t sure if they still sold these natural gas heaters? I thought they had outlawed them???? I came across this brand while searching. So I guess they do sell natural gas heaters still? I’m Actually tempted to buy a new one soon before they do get rid of them. It felt good to have it during the 2021 winter storm we had in Texas. I spent the night in the porch where we have the heater lol. And yes it’s drafty in there still so they do get fresh air as well. The one you have is massive! Lol. We have the natural gas thing sticking out of the wall. We connect a yellow metal hose to it etc. I’m assuming this one is connected like that as well? Just want to make sure if it is what I need and can use with my current connection.
I would say you need some source of fresh air to be safe it you're running it for a long period. My garage is drafty so there is always some fresh air coming in.
i have two units installed in my basement three years ago and have really enjoyed their output. this year, however, they set off my carbon monoxide alarm. what could be the issue?
i drilled 3/8" hole in top of the thing, took the little door for the useless/EXPENSIVE fan opening and turned the door upside down in case want to use the hole cover later... for what? i dont know... so i cld reach in the hole to tighten 3/8" nut and washer for the 20" box fan I put on top of the heater. remove plastic guards from box fan, less stuff to clean as safety grills on fans collect dust as does fan blade. oil fan motor bearings once a month with motor oil/3 n 1 oil, whatever for long happy fan life if have to drill little hole in back of motor to geet oil to back bearing, not that big a deal as it is alum housing. metal frame fan to REALLY get the heat/fumes blowing about. can turn the box fan most any way (forward) to blow heat where we want it. i also made some A frame legs for heater out of 4' long (x 2)... 2" strap steel 1/8" thick that i bent in vise. drilled 3/8" hole in the top of them so i can mount the heater on them OFF THE FLOOR, less apt to kick it over? heat is where a persons body is, not at their feet/cold concrete floor... or carpet. drill 3/8" holes in bottom of heater PAYING ATTN TO WHERE THE PLUMBING IS IN THE BOTTOM OF HEATER SO DONT DRILL HOLES INTO THE GAS PIPING!!!! carpet covered with 2-20" cheap pieces of HD flooring tile just in case some hot ember falls from heater it wont catch carpet on fire. 2 CO detectors per room. NOT TO BE USED IN BATHROOMS or BEDROOMS cuz... go to sleep... forever. 2 CO detectors in each room where heaters are... CO detectors $10 on fleabay. test with car exhaust or smoker some ppl reside in older less well insulated places so there is ... air leaks for fresh air to come in and other air to go out. yellow Teflon tape on gas connections as the white Teflon tape gets eaten by natural /propane? gas... eventually?
My husband bought this and put it in his basement office, small window and open door, CO2 no detection and no leaks. However there is a gas like smell that travels up into my living room and fills the room, yet there is no smell in the office where he has the heater. It is this model. He says we will be fine. We turn it off at night. We have had it out of the box for 4 days.
Any smell of gas is not good. There is a slight smell when you turn it on before the pilot lights, but that is all I have experienced. Its odd that it is not smelled in the room that the heater is on. I would really try and find the source.
I’m in Alakska. Always curious about 2 things on these units. 1-Whats the BTU output and fuel consumption while its in pilot mode only? 2-whats teh min temp setting on the thermostat? Thanks for sharing if you can. Great video.
Those are good questions, and I am not sure. If I had to guess I would say the pilot is 50-100 BTUs. At some point in time, I remember seeing corresponding temperatures to the numbers on the thermostat, but I do not remember for sure. If I had to guess I would go with 64,68,72,76, and 80. I do recall that they were 4-degree increments.
They work great and cheap to buy and use. My issue with this type of heater is . It creates a lot of moisture. Which means mold. I'd go with a direct vent heater. Exhaust and intake comes from outside. I had one in a mobile home. It had a metal roof. The heater raises the humidity so much water forms on the bottom of the metal roof which drips down on insultation and inner ceiling, causing water damage and mold.
The properties of propane is that it when burning produces water vapor which caused humidity. Carbon monoxide does not produce water vapor. CO will kill you use a CO detector.
Thinking of using this in my greenhouse. Can I leave the pilot on for days at a time and have this come on only when the thermostat goes below 32 degrees F? Or would I need to constantly monitor the pilot status?

Did you need to buy additional brackets or hardware to mount those fans or did you just use whatever it came with? Self tapping screws or nuts and bolts?
I used some small straight and 90-degree steel brackets that can be purchased at any hardware store. I used the screws and nuts that the fans came with to attached them to the brackets and self tapping screws in the back.
That is a great question and I wish I knew the answer to it. Unfortunately, it's very hard to measure that. I use it during the winter when the normal gas bill would go up from heating the house. I just called the gas company the other day to schedule a reading and asked about the price of gas and he said over the past year the prices have gone from the normal $0.40-0.60 cf to $1.19 a cf during October and now they are back down to $0.70 cf which would make any changes in the bill hard to determine. I am wondering if Mr. Heater has any measurements on how much it uses per hour. I will look into it!
I have the 10k one in my 11x22 shed and it’s does decent in there I just run a fan on low behind it and the shed is in the low 50s when it’s 20 out. Thing has mad my tinker area bearable. Now to figure out the summer heat
A big ass swamp cooler is the secret for your summer heat issues. Just run a water hose from one of your spigots and you never have to add water. It obviously has a float valve as well.

The only time I had an issue wit that was when I meant to turn it off, but I turned it up all the way, which disables the thermostat. It ran for almost 24 hours at the highest level and brought the temp in my garage to 110 degrees (I purchaced a wifi thermometer after that with temp alerts on my phone). My cast iron router table was covered in rust, obviously it was just on the surfaces and was able to be cleaned off, but other than that I have not had any issues.
Yes they do cause moisture, my 12x24x 9 wood working shop is insulated, I thought I had a Leakey roof come to find out it was condensation, vent free doesn’t mean go without a vent! This heater heated my shop very well it works great except for the condensation, I switched to an electric heater now it’s dry like a popcorn fart ! 😃
Yes, a byproduct of combustion is water. And more importantly another byproduct of combustion using these heaters is benzene. Be sure to check out the recent studies on what you were doing to your indoor air quality. These things are garbage.
One time I left it on high for 24 hours (scary), my cast iron router table developed a layer of rust in the 24 hours. I had to strip clean and rewax the entire table. But, with normal use I do not have an issue. Keep in mind the garage got up to 110 degrees for sustained amount of time. When you turn the heater to the highest setting it bypasses the thermostat.
Can anyone suggest a means of holding down moisture in my garage when I fire up my forced air propane heater? After a few minutes, it gets damp even on my receiver which I’m afraid to turn on for fear of frying it. I’m strongly thinking of one of these units. The unit I have now is very loud when running and puts out so much heat (even on low) that I have to keep turning it on and off which is a pain. Thanks, Garry.
Hi Garry, the model in the video does have a thermostat, it will turn off the just the pilot once the room heats up. I think the simple answer for the moisture would be a dehumidifier.
I've had this unit for a few weeks, and have it in my living room. Tonight I'm noticing a small circle forming on the black back wall of the inner firebox. Is this considered normal wear & tear as one continues to use the unit? The unit is not left burning overnight, nor does it run during the day when I'm away at work. I literally just noticed the small ring-like shape just behind the blue flame tonight on the black wall. Just wanna make sure I'm not in any danger of burning my house down, lol. The unit does a very nice job & has given me no issues thus far. Insight would be appreciated. It's my first time owning a natural gas fireplace, so I hope it's not too rookie a question.
I don't see any on mine, but I am not exactly sure what to look for. I would imagine anything in direct contact or close to the open flam is likely going to have some type of discoloration.
I wouldn't worry about that as much as I would worry about all of the recent studies that have come out that show these things in mid levels of carcinogenic benzene in your living environment which are fire higher than human health and safety standards.
I honestly don't have that much of an issue with the moisture. I live in Buffalo and the humidity is usually low during the winter months. I do have a wifi thermometer/humidity meter in the garage that graphs the two, so I am doing some test right now to see how the humidity changes after running the heater and then what happens when I run a dehumidifier.
We used to live in Dunkirk NY just near Buffalo , now live in Charlotte NC. Not that cold down here, when near freezing we use a Mr Buddy to supplement heat only . Mostly heat pump down here. Stay warm MZ . @@mzgarage

Any thing is possible. I did think about wiring the fans into the thermal switch that came with the Mr. Heart fan, but I ended up returning it because it was so bad. There is a spot for a thermal switch inside. AC infinity also has many thermostat options for the fans, but I am not sure if which would work with these fan units, many of them are quite sophisticate like I have in my desk for computer cooling, but they are very nice. I will take a look and post a link here if I find one that will work with these fan units.
I never make a specific video showing the mounting, but it's not difficult and there is many ways to do it. I just use some small steel brackets that are available at hardware store. I put the screws for the fan guards through the one end and used two sheet metal screws to put it on the back. I used an L bracket at two M5 screes with the corners that have female thread, but you can honestly just zip tie them together. It does not get that hot on top of the it especially with the fans blowing the warm air away.
Something is not right. It should only light when you turn it to the pilot setting and push down the dial. Gas should not come out until the pilot is lit.

I am not an expert with that, so I don't want to give advice on flammable gas. Black pipe for NG is very low pressure, I am not sure what the pressure is in propane lines for where the regulator is located.
Unfortunately, I have no idea. There are so many variables when I am using it. Mr. Heater may be able to provide some estimates, but I have never looked on their site.
Yes, you need need a regulator. These heaters run on very low pressure. I think the LP version comes with a regulator, but if it does not, I am sure the specifications would give you the part number.
I live in a house that has propane gas for heating, cooking, and etc. Could I just hook this up to my gas starter line in the fireplace? If so, what components would I possibly need?
You would have to get the propane or dual fuel version of this heater, but beyond that I am not sure what adapters would be needed. I don't imagine it would be too difficult.
You need a low pressure regulator between heater and fuel source. I'm pretty sure you have one installed already running your stove. If your fireplace is connected to the low pressure regulator then you should be fine. If not you would need to tap into the existing line coming from low pressure regulator. I just had 2 of these installed. My only propane appliance was my stove which I already had a low pressure regulator hooked up to so he just tapped into the line coming off of the regulator and ran two new lines to the heaters in addition to the existing line going to my stove.
Be sure to check out all the studies of the elevated levels of benzene in your home which is a cancer-causing petroleum hydrocarbon before you keep burning all that gas in your house.
I just bought the blue flame Mr Heater and after running for about 30 minutes the flame goes out. It will relight but runs another 30 min and goes out again. Now, it won't light unless I have it on level 3 on the heating knob. Any ideas?? TIA
Does the pilot light stay on? The numbers correspond to a temperature. Once the room reaches that temperature, the flame will decrease or turn off and then turn back on when the temperature drops.
I am really not sure if I would consider it safer. I do remember seeing that on some of the models when I was shopping around. It seems like it could lower to risk of something flammable touching the flame, but I am not sure how much it really blocks the flame. Sorry that I could not be more helpful.
How much do you crack your window when your using the heater I’m thinking about getting a couple of them from my house because it doesn’t have any kind of heat source at the moment

No, there isn't a time limit. You just want to make sure you open a nearby window about an inch for air flow, if you have good insulation, and if your windows get condensation on the inside, you don't have enough air flow. If you don't have good insulation wherever your using it, it should be drafty enough. I have this heater, but mine is a LP and has the radiant tiles (infrared), so the only open flame is the pilot. It has a thermostat that goes from 1 to 5 (I've never had to go above 3 to heat my 1k sf house, in Northern MI) and will shut down, just like a furnace does, when it reaches temperature and automatically restart when the temp drops (the pilot light stays on the entire time the unit is in use). It also has an automatic low oxygen shut off. I have propane & Co2 alarms too, and none have ever gone off. I use mine as backup heating for my home (I don't use the fan, which I think are now sold separately), in case of a power outage, and have had mine connected to my 500 gallon propane tank in the yard, using copper line, shutoffs and a 2 stage regulator. You can use these with 20 or 100 pound propane tanks too, with a Mr Heater hose and appropriate regulator. I used a 1 stage regulator for the 20 pd and a 2 stage regulator for the 100 pd tanks, along with a shutoff valve, before I had it hooked up to my big tank. You just follow the instructions that come with the unit. Make sure you buy the right one for your needs, i.e. natural gas, or propane, because you can't convert them.
4:25. I bought a a mr heater for our camp , my husband read directions said to not leave alone , but I left it and went to bed , was I wrong , didn’t want to shut it off was cold what do you think , worked good , was it safe?
I lost power last winter for almost 3 days during a blizzard. I disconnected my dryer and brought the heater into the house, and it was the only source of heat that I had. I was still cautious and turned it off at night (my house would go down to the 50 degrees). I would always err on the side of cautions, but with that said, I have run this for hours and hours in my garage with no issues.
We have ours in the basement on a concrete wall. We leave ours on continuous all winter. Even when my father died last February and our cats were home alone we left it running, my inlaws did come and check things out once a day while we were gone. But I think your safe, unless your using on a wood floor, etc. Like I said we keep ours in the basement, still can be a fire Hazzard but less chance it'll catch something on fire
😢 THIS IS A FANTASTIC HEATER BUT! I had one of these so i know the big BUT that's coming. Don't get one of these if you live at more than 4000 feet elevation Below 4000 feet its an incredible heater. It throws an INCREDIBLE amount of heat. I was living at almost 7000 feet and yes you could start the heater but after a minute or two the heater warmed up and the propane got warmer and warmer until the propane was coming out so fast the heater would blow itself out then you had to turn off the gas until the heater cools down. Below 4000 feet FANTASTIC Above 4000 feet DANGEROUS!
Anyone know how to fix a sticking gas valve on one of these heaters? Mine won't completely shut off when it should, I have to slap it on the side to get it to close. Been like this since new and I consider it a quality control issue.
@kr5289 I have it in an Airbnb. I usually fill the tank every November usually costs around 700 to fill it. For all I know guests are keeping it 90 in there
I am not sure. I do not notice that with mine, but there may be a small amount of gas in the line after the valve the is able to escape after it is turned off. If it lingers for longer, I would be more concerned.
My heater was acting up before it blew off the pilot tip and unloaded raw N/G inside my home. The thermostat was shutting down the unit when it reach 70 degrees but a small leaking gas around the burner gas valve was leaking and the unit woukd try to reignite making a noise and it sounded unsafe. Turns out when the thermocouple goes bad the pilot tip blows raw N/G and that’s very unsafe. Also the 1% of the carbon dioxide is inside your house unless you installed the unit directly under a cracked open window by doing this you have vented the carbon dioxide outside and the house stays dry.
Anything is possible but I have no idea how you would do that. Some of the united are made for dual fuel with an two inlets. One for NG and the other for LP, but I am not sure what is different with the rest of the unit.
It does work well. I recall reading somewhere that the numbers correspond to a specific temperature, but I cannot find that anywhere in the manual. In my garage (approx. 300 sq ft) setting 1.5 keeps it about 68 degrees and setting 2 keeps it around 72. I would say you have to play around with it until you see what setting will give you the desired temperature. You can see the flame increasing and decreasing to maintain the temperature once the room warms up.
I have never use one of these radiant heaters, but I would imagine that is true. I'm sure there are some videos out there that show them in action to compare.
I have a 10,000 BTU NG radiant flame version of this kind of heater. It has like a ceramic core and the flames are orange and they just hover over the core.
yes... higher the heat... higher the flame. like OLD style (NO SAFETIES) box heaters with the ceramic A things in them. infinite adjustment in them, just turn the little valve/dial to whatever heat/flame size u want. can use them without the break like crystal A frame ceramic things in them. i like the pretty blue flame myself, but to each their own. 20" box fan on top of heater held there with 3/8" Bolt in hole in center of top of unit. reach thru the little door for the 4" fan ($50!?!?!?) to tighten the nut to hold 20" box fan, without plastic grills/metal housing on top of heater to BLOW the heat /fumes around the place.

Might be a good heater but they are illegal in the state I live in. Wanted to put one in a garage and found out from an inspector and a plumber. They don't vent and put allot of moisture into the area they are heating.
There may be a slight odor when you first use the heater. I really don't notice much of an odor with regular use unless I am making a lot of dust or using aerosols. Some people seem to be more sensitive than others the odor.
These fans run on AC, but there are many 12v options that are still powerful. I would not recommend any of the 5v fans as they just don't have enough power in my opinion.

I am not sure. It depends on the price of gas, which varies by region. I don't run mine all the time. I don't recall reading consumption values in the manual, but you can't get more efficient than one of these.

I’ve been using mine for 2.5 years now in Ohio. It’s in my workshop which is 20x24’. It keeps my shop a steady 65° even in sub zero weather.

I ask the stock guy to call his boss and see if he would take a $100.00 Cash and he did. Best $100.00 I’ve spent in a while. Was running a Dyna Glo K-1 heater but the price of fuel was killing me. Definitely worth the money!

Last winter i used a small space heater which has a very good fan and a separate fan feature which can be used to cool the unit before turning off (which most today dont have)
My electric bill is typically around $70 to $90 per month the rest of the year, but ising that small space heater it jumped to $220!! Per month for the winter which is absolutely crazy.

The temperature setting can be partial: partway between 1 and 2, for example. My fan setup is totally DIY, using a commonplace two motor window fan plugged into an SSR controlled by a super cheap temp controller from Amazon. The blue flame version is a better choice than the gates-of-hell radiant version unless nightmares where people you trusted push you into pools of lava or municipal incinerator furnaces like Batman and Robin on conveyor belts managed to escape etc etc are your preference.

Thank you! When I was using the space heaters I had no idea how much they cost (about $0.20/hr) which adds up quickly, and they don't put out that much heat. I do have a carbon monoxide detector in the garage that has the little LCD screen that is supposed to display the level in ppm and recall what the highest level is. So far, it's been zero. I have only had that one for a few weeks, but I will let you know if it reads something.
I have a carbon monoxide detector 8' from my heater. in 4 years it has never went off. I replace the batteries every year just incase

I’m in south Texas and I been using this old natural gas heater for my pets for many years. But I’m worried it could break down and I would need a new one. But I wasn’t sure if they still sold these natural gas heaters? I thought they had outlawed them???? I came across this brand while searching. So I guess they do sell natural gas heaters still? I’m Actually tempted to buy a new one soon before they do get rid of them. It felt good to have it during the 2021 winter storm we had in Texas. I spent the night in the porch where we have the heater lol. And yes it’s drafty in there still so they do get fresh air as well. The one you have is massive! Lol. We have the natural gas thing sticking out of the wall. We connect a yellow metal hose to it etc. I’m assuming this one is connected like that as well? Just want to make sure if it is what I need and can use with my current connection.

I would say you need some source of fresh air to be safe it you're running it for a long period. My garage is drafty so there is always some fresh air coming in.

The 1238 are more powerful. Those are the ones that I have, but the 1235 are more than enough. I don't usually tune them up to more than 50%.

i drilled 3/8" hole in top of the thing, took the little door for the useless/EXPENSIVE fan opening and turned the door upside down in case want to use the hole cover later... for what? i dont know... so i cld reach in the hole to tighten 3/8" nut and washer for the 20" box fan I put on top of the heater.
remove plastic guards from box fan, less stuff to clean as safety grills on fans collect dust as does fan blade. oil fan motor bearings once a month with motor oil/3 n 1 oil, whatever for long happy fan life if have to drill little hole in back of motor to geet oil to back bearing, not that big a deal as it is alum housing.
metal frame fan to REALLY get the heat/fumes blowing about. can turn the box fan most any way (forward) to blow heat where we want it.
i also made some A frame legs for heater out of 4' long (x 2)... 2" strap steel 1/8" thick that i bent in vise. drilled 3/8" hole in the top of them so i can mount the heater on them OFF THE FLOOR, less apt to kick it over? heat is where a persons body is, not at their feet/cold concrete floor... or carpet. drill 3/8" holes in bottom of heater PAYING ATTN TO WHERE THE PLUMBING IS IN THE BOTTOM OF HEATER SO DONT DRILL HOLES INTO THE GAS PIPING!!!!

My husband bought this and put it in his basement office, small window and open door, CO2 no detection and no leaks. However there is a gas like smell that travels up into my living room and fills the room, yet there is no smell in the office where he has the heater. It is this model. He says we will be fine. We turn it off at night. We have had it out of the box for 4 days.
Any smell of gas is not good. There is a slight smell when you turn it on before the pilot lights, but that is all I have experienced. Its odd that it is not smelled in the room that the heater is on. I would really try and find the source.

Those are good questions, and I am not sure. If I had to guess I would say the pilot is 50-100 BTUs. At some point in time, I remember seeing corresponding temperatures to the numbers on the thermostat, but I do not remember for sure. If I had to guess I would go with 64,68,72,76, and 80. I do recall that they were 4-degree increments.
They work great and cheap to buy and use. My issue with this type of heater is . It creates a lot of moisture. Which means mold. I'd go with a direct vent heater. Exhaust and intake comes from outside. I had one in a mobile home. It had a metal roof. The heater raises the humidity so much water forms on the bottom of the metal roof which drips down on insultation and inner ceiling, causing water damage and mold.
That’s not humidity. It’s the CO…….. I had one in an apartment I rented. Ripped it out after a few days it makes way too much CO.
The properties of propane is that it when burning produces water vapor which caused humidity. Carbon monoxide does not produce water vapor. CO will kill you use a CO detector.
Not to mention they elevate levels of benzene in your living environment which is a carcinogenic compound.

Did you need to buy additional brackets or hardware to mount those fans or did you just use whatever it came with? Self tapping screws or nuts and bolts?
I used some small straight and 90-degree steel brackets that can be purchased at any hardware store. I used the screws and nuts that the fans came with to attached them to the brackets and self tapping screws in the back.

What’s the increase of your gas bill per month when running this unit all winter long?
That is a great question and I wish I knew the answer to it. Unfortunately, it's very hard to measure that. I use it during the winter when the normal gas bill would go up from heating the house. I just called the gas company the other day to schedule a reading and asked about the price of gas and he said over the past year the prices have gone from the normal $0.40-0.60 cf to $1.19 a cf during October and now they are back down to $0.70 cf which would make any changes in the bill hard to determine. I am wondering if Mr. Heater has any measurements on how much it uses per hour. I will look into it!
I have the 10k one in my 11x22 shed and it’s does decent in there I just run a fan on low behind it and the shed is in the low 50s when it’s 20 out. Thing has mad my tinker area bearable. Now to figure out the summer heat

A big ass swamp cooler is the secret for your summer heat issues. Just run a water hose from one of your spigots and you never have to add water. It obviously has a float valve as well.

The only time I had an issue wit that was when I meant to turn it off, but I turned it up all the way, which disables the thermostat. It ran for almost 24 hours at the highest level and brought the temp in my garage to 110 degrees (I purchaced a wifi thermometer after that with temp alerts on my phone). My cast iron router table was covered in rust, obviously it was just on the surfaces and was able to be cleaned off, but other than that I have not had any issues.
Yes they do cause moisture, my 12x24x 9 wood working shop is insulated, I thought I had a Leakey roof come to find out it was condensation, vent free doesn’t mean go without a vent! This heater heated my shop very well it works great except for the condensation, I switched to an electric heater now it’s dry like a popcorn fart ! 😃
Yes, a byproduct of combustion is water. And more importantly another byproduct of combustion using these heaters is benzene. Be sure to check out the recent studies on what you were doing to your indoor air quality. These things are garbage.

Does this heater generate moisture in your garage like a torpedo heater?
One time I left it on high for 24 hours (scary), my cast iron router table developed a layer of rust in the 24 hours. I had to strip clean and rewax the entire table. But, with normal use I do not have an issue. Keep in mind the garage got up to 110 degrees for sustained amount of time. When you turn the heater to the highest setting it bypasses the thermostat.

Can anyone suggest a means of holding down moisture in my garage when I fire up my forced air propane heater? After a few minutes, it gets damp even on my receiver which I’m afraid to turn on for fear of frying it. I’m strongly thinking of one of these units. The unit I have now is very loud when running and puts out so much heat (even on low) that I have to keep turning it on and off which is a pain. Thanks, Garry.
Hi Garry, the model in the video does have a thermostat, it will turn off the just the pilot once the room heats up. I think the simple answer for the moisture would be a dehumidifier.

I've had this unit for a few weeks, and have it in my living room. Tonight I'm noticing a small circle forming on the black back wall of the inner firebox. Is this considered normal wear & tear as one continues to use the unit? The unit is not left burning overnight, nor does it run during the day when I'm away at work. I literally just noticed the small ring-like shape just behind the blue flame tonight on the black wall. Just wanna make sure I'm not in any danger of burning my house down, lol. The unit does a very nice job & has given me no issues thus far. Insight would be appreciated. It's my first time owning a natural gas fireplace, so I hope it's not too rookie a question.
I don't see any on mine, but I am not exactly sure what to look for. I would imagine anything in direct contact or close to the open flam is likely going to have some type of discoloration.
I wouldn't worry about that as much as I would worry about all of the recent studies that have come out that show these things in mid levels of carcinogenic benzene in your living environment which are fire higher than human health and safety standards.
How to you handle the condensation from a ventless gas heater?
I honestly don't have that much of an issue with the moisture. I live in Buffalo and the humidity is usually low during the winter months. I do have a wifi thermometer/humidity meter in the garage that graphs the two, so I am doing some test right now to see how the humidity changes after running the heater and then what happens when I run a dehumidifier.
We used to live in Dunkirk NY just near Buffalo , now live in Charlotte NC. Not that cold down here, when near freezing we use a Mr Buddy to supplement heat only . Mostly heat pump down here. Stay warm MZ . @@mzgarage

Are you asking about a kitchen stove for cooking? Anything is possible, but I am not sure what would have to be modified.
Can the attached fans be connected so as to work with the thermostat? Turn on when heater temp rises and shut off when heater is shutting down?
Any thing is possible. I did think about wiring the fans into the thermal switch that came with the Mr. Heart fan, but I ended up returning it because it was so bad. There is a spot for a thermal switch inside. AC infinity also has many thermostat options for the fans, but I am not sure if which would work with these fan units, many of them are quite sophisticate like I have in my desk for computer cooling, but they are very nice. I will take a look and post a link here if I find one that will work with these fan units.

I never make a specific video showing the mounting, but it's not difficult and there is many ways to do it. I just use some small steel brackets that are available at hardware store. I put the screws for the fan guards through the one end and used two sheet metal screws to put it on the back. I used an L bracket at two M5 screes with the corners that have female thread, but you can honestly just zip tie them together. It does not get that hot on top of the it especially with the fans blowing the warm air away.
I just bought the same heater. It will only light on setting 3. Is this normal? 1 and 2 it will not light.
Something is not right. It should only light when you turn it to the pilot setting and push down the dial. Gas should not come out until the pilot is lit.

The fan won't work but the flame will. The pilot light is ignited with a triple a battery spark maker. So yes it will work in a power outtage.

if you have LP gas only, would the piping from the LP source (tanks) be black pipe or can it be a flexi pipe ?
I am not an expert with that, so I don't want to give advice on flammable gas. Black pipe for NG is very low pressure, I am not sure what the pressure is in propane lines for where the regulator is located.

Unfortunately, I have no idea. There are so many variables when I am using it. Mr. Heater may be able to provide some estimates, but I have never looked on their site.

There is a thermostat in it. Once it reaches the temp it's set to the flame will turn off, but the pilot should still remain on.

Yes, you need need a regulator. These heaters run on very low pressure. I think the LP version comes with a regulator, but if it does not, I am sure the specifications would give you the part number.

You would have to get the propane or dual fuel version of this heater, but beyond that I am not sure what adapters would be needed. I don't imagine it would be too difficult.
You need a low pressure regulator between heater and fuel source. I'm pretty sure you have one installed already running your stove. If your fireplace is connected to the low pressure regulator then you should be fine. If not you would need to tap into the existing line coming from low pressure regulator.
I just had 2 of these installed. My only propane appliance was my stove which I already had a low pressure regulator hooked up to so he just tapped into the line coming off of the regulator and ran two new lines to the heaters in addition to the existing line going to my stove.
Be sure to check out all the studies of the elevated levels of benzene in your home which is a cancer-causing petroleum hydrocarbon before you keep burning all that gas in your house.
I just bought the blue flame Mr Heater and after running for about 30 minutes the flame goes out. It will relight but runs another 30 min and goes out again. Now, it won't light unless I have it on level 3 on the heating knob. Any ideas?? TIA
Does the pilot light stay on? The numbers correspond to a temperature. Once the room reaches that temperature, the flame will decrease or turn off and then turn back on when the temperature drops.

I have a 20,000 btu and just bought a 30, 000 btu. The 20,000 btu has glass in front of it whereas the 30,000 does not. Is the 20,000 btu safer?
I am really not sure if I would consider it safer. I do remember seeing that on some of the models when I was shopping around. It seems like it could lower to risk of something flammable touching the flame, but I am not sure how much it really blocks the flame. Sorry that I could not be more helpful.

No, there isn't a time limit. You just want to make sure you open a nearby window about an inch for air flow, if you have good insulation, and if your windows get condensation on the inside, you don't have enough air flow. If you don't have good insulation wherever your using it, it should be drafty enough. I have this heater, but mine is a LP and has the radiant tiles (infrared), so the only open flame is the pilot. It has a thermostat that goes from 1 to 5 (I've never had to go above 3 to heat my 1k sf house, in Northern MI) and will shut down, just like a furnace does, when it reaches temperature and automatically restart when the temp drops (the pilot light stays on the entire time the unit is in use). It also has an automatic low oxygen shut off. I have propane & Co2 alarms too, and none have ever gone off. I use mine as backup heating for my home (I don't use the fan, which I think are now sold separately), in case of a power outage, and have had mine connected to my 500 gallon propane tank in the yard, using copper line, shutoffs and a 2 stage regulator. You can use these with 20 or 100 pound propane tanks too, with a Mr Heater hose and appropriate regulator. I used a 1 stage regulator for the 20 pd and a 2 stage regulator for the 100 pd tanks, along with a shutoff valve, before I had it hooked up to my big tank. You just follow the instructions that come with the unit. Make sure you buy the right one for your needs, i.e. natural gas, or propane, because you can't convert them.

I lost power last winter for almost 3 days during a blizzard. I disconnected my dryer and brought the heater into the house, and it was the only source of heat that I had. I was still cautious and turned it off at night (my house would go down to the 50 degrees). I would always err on the side of cautions, but with that said, I have run this for hours and hours in my garage with no issues.
We have ours in the basement on a concrete wall. We leave ours on continuous all winter. Even when my father died last February and our cats were home alone we left it running, my inlaws did come and check things out once a day while we were gone. But I think your safe, unless your using on a wood floor, etc. Like I said we keep ours in the basement, still can be a fire Hazzard but less chance it'll catch something on fire

Don't get one of these if you live at more than 4000 feet elevation
Below 4000 feet its an incredible heater. It throws an INCREDIBLE amount of heat.
I was living at almost 7000 feet and yes you could start the heater but after a minute or two the heater warmed up and the propane got warmer and warmer until the propane was coming out so fast the heater would blow itself out then you had to turn off the gas until the heater cools down.
Below 4000 feet FANTASTIC
Above 4000 feet DANGEROUS!
Anyone know how to fix a sticking gas valve on one of these heaters? Mine won't completely shut off when it should, I have to slap it on the side to get it to close. Been like this since new and I consider it a quality control issue.
I would suggest replacing that part as soon as possible. Does not sound safe to leave it be!
I have one that heats a log cabin. It probably runs 15 to 20 days a month and usually cost me between 700 to 1000 in Kentucky

I had bought a HearthSense Gas Heater 30000 - when it shuts down it smells like gas for the next 2 minutes. Any ideas why? Thanks.
I am not sure. I do not notice that with mine, but there may be a small amount of gas in the line after the valve the is able to escape after it is turned off. If it lingers for longer, I would be more concerned.
Carbon builds up on the seal and the gas leaks out until it self seals by impurities that are in gases.
My heater was acting up before it blew off the pilot tip and unloaded raw N/G inside my home. The thermostat was shutting down the unit when it reach 70 degrees but a small leaking gas around the burner gas valve was leaking and the unit woukd try to reignite making a noise and it sounded unsafe. Turns out when the thermocouple goes bad the pilot tip blows raw N/G and that’s very unsafe. Also the 1% of the carbon dioxide is inside your house unless you installed the unit directly under a cracked open window by doing this you have vented the carbon dioxide outside and the house stays dry.
I found one of these in a garage sale…is it capable of converting to propane?
Anything is possible but I have no idea how you would do that. Some of the united are made for dual fuel with an two inlets. One for NG and the other for LP, but I am not sure what is different with the rest of the unit.
Does the thermostat work well?
It does work well. I recall reading somewhere that the numbers correspond to a specific temperature, but I cannot find that anywhere in the manual. In my garage (approx. 300 sq ft) setting 1.5 keeps it about 68 degrees and setting 2 keeps it around 72. I would say you have to play around with it until you see what setting will give you the desired temperature. You can see the flame increasing and decreasing to maintain the temperature once the room warms up.

Seems like the blue flame is pretty high. Is the radiant flame smaller and have heat bricks?
I have never use one of these radiant heaters, but I would imagine that is true. I'm sure there are some videos out there that show them in action to compare.
I have a 10,000 BTU NG radiant flame version of this kind of heater.
It has like a ceramic core and the flames are orange and they just hover over the core.
yes... higher the heat... higher the flame. like OLD style (NO SAFETIES) box heaters with the ceramic A things in them. infinite adjustment in them, just turn the little valve/dial to whatever heat/flame size u want. can use them without the break like crystal A frame ceramic things in them. i like the pretty blue flame myself, but to each their own. 20" box fan on top of heater held there with 3/8" Bolt in hole in center of top of unit. reach thru the little door for the 4" fan ($50!?!?!?) to tighten the nut to hold 20" box fan, without plastic grills/metal housing on top of heater to BLOW the heat /fumes around the place.

Might be a good heater but they are illegal in the state I live in. Wanted to put one in a garage and found out from an inspector and a plumber. They don't vent and put allot of moisture into the area they are heating.
They also provide you with increased levels of carcinogenic benzene indoors.
does it stink have a gas ventless. it smell what could it be paint oil from unit manufactory combustion? radeint from blue flame.
There may be a slight odor when you first use the heater. I really don't notice much of an odor with regular use unless I am making a lot of dust or using aerosols. Some people seem to be more sensitive than others the odor.
Do the fans need electric ordo they run off of a battery?
These fans run on AC, but there are many 12v options that are still powerful. I would not recommend any of the 5v fans as they just don't have enough power in my opinion.

How much does it cost to run assuming im running it 24/7 as my only source of heat?
I am not sure. It depends on the price of gas, which varies by region. I don't run mine all the time. I don't recall reading consumption values in the manual, but you can't get more efficient than one of these.
Not sure what the cost of cancer is but I wouldn't use one of these. Just look at the studies on how they increase levels of benzene in your home well beyond human health standards
