  • How do you connect a 30K btu Mr. Heater blue heater to a 20 lb propane tank? If you're like me, trying to beat the chill in the barn or anywhere else around your homestead, you know the importance of a good heating solution. But, if you've ever scratched your head wondering how to hook it up, especially with the not-so-clear instructions, don't worry, I've got you covered.
    00:00 Introduction
    00:38 About Us
    00:59 Legal Disclamer
    01:25 Regulator is needed
    02:17 Other needed items
    03:15 Adding the 3/8 fitting
    04:25 Connecting hose to heater
    04:35 Connecting hose to 20 lb tank
    05:24 Purging air from hose
    06:22 Where does the AA battery go?
    06:59 Lighting the blue flames
    07:38 Conclusion
    We're going to break down everything you need - from the right kind of regulator (got mine from Tractor Supply, but Amazon's got it too) to the specific fittings and gas tape. And, speaking of fittings, I'll show you why a 90-degree elbow might just save you a lot of hassle compared to a straight one.
    Of course, a little legal disclaimer - I'm not a licensed plumber, so please take this as friendly advice from one homesteader to another. Do this at your own risk, and always read those manuals, especially the parts about external regulators and gas pressure.
    We'll also get into some troubleshooting, like making sure you've got the right battery setup and how to properly purge the gas before igniting. It's all about getting that warm, cozy heat safely and efficiently.
    And, exciting news for the channel - we're soon upgrading to the EG4 6000XP inverters! It's going to be a game-changer for our solar setups, and I can't wait to share the whole process with you. So, stay tuned, hit that subscribe button, and check out our other videos on Mr. Heater products and all things homesteading.
    Thanks for joining me today, and I look forward to seeing you in the next video. Stay warm and take care, y'all!

    Thank you so much for doing this video. I live in New Hampshire and got hit with a last minute nor'easter. My fiance and I moved in last year and thought we were prepared for something like this, but everything just went wrong. As a last ditch effort to stay warm we went to home depot for any kind of heat source. They were selling this heater like a cure all. Unfortunately it gave us a brand new set of frustrations. That's when I found your video. It kept us warm until my power came back on. Thank you so much!

    THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS! You are the ONLY one of many videos showing the ventless blue flame wall heater hook-up to a 20+ lb tank that bothered to say ANYTHING about the LEFTY TIGHTY connection of hose fitting to the tank. I was close to having a come apart before your wonderful and very useful instructional video. There is no telling how many people have destroyed the threads on this $50 part. You are THE MAN!!!

    I have a heater that looks IDENTICAL to yours but not the Mr. Buddy brand that was on the wall of my shop that was connected to the outside big propane tank, I took it off the wall and wanted it to be easily moved closer to where I need it, YOUR instructions & parts list will help me, I will put the heater on the top of a movable cart like Harbor Freight sells, & put the connecting tank on the carts bottom shelf along with another backup tank

    I live in indiana. 4 years ago my furnace in my 14x70 trailer finaly just quit, it was 20years old. I bought this heater installed it and was just blown away of how well these things work. It work so well i never replaced my furnace. Fast forward till present day, Still is my only heat source. You do have to clean the the pilot light every year but other than that best heater ever made. 3 weeks ago got down to -10 and this trailer stayed right at 70 on level 3.

    • @EastTexasHomestead
      @EastTexasHomestead  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It all depends on how much you use it. From doing a little math the other day (it’s in one of the comments and I don’t remember for sure) I believe it will run on high for 16 hours. With as much heat as it puts out, you shouldn’t need to do that.

      I'm running a 10K BTU Dyna-Glo blue flame heater on a 30 lb. tank. I'm here to tell you that it will chew through a bunch of propane in just 5 to 6 days, when used hard. It's great supplemental heat but just be prepared for the extra usage during high demand. I cannot imagine running a 30K unit on a 20 lb. tank for anything other than knocking the chill off of the garage or workshop. I'm budgeting for a large, sevicable tank, so that I can avoid the run to town every week or two and doing the tank fill shuffle.

    • @REVNUMANEWBERN

      Suggestion, get a 100# tank & build a cart with casters that will support the weight, sized just for the base of the tank, and have a hitch on your truck / vehicle that the new cart can be easily rolled up into, then off to the fill shop

    How many nights will this heater run on a 20 pound propane tank ?

    • @EastTexasHomestead
      @EastTexasHomestead  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It all depends, but a 20-pound LP tank will last approximately 14 hours when running non-stop at a rate of 30,000 BTU per hour. Most of these units will reduce the gas burned with a thermostat and even turn the heater off when the room gets to the desired temp. It could easily last you a week with decent insulation and moderate temps. But if you're trying to keep a non-insulated, large home warm in single-digit temps, it won't last long.
