Hearing the VOR and NDB beacons chiming away instantly took me back to my very first Multi-IFR checkride. Only a tiny percentage of people have heard that distinctive sound or had the pleasure/thrill of running up the engines to take off power, then releasing the brakes, knowing that you have about 15 seconds before entering the clouds - and looking forward to the bright, near blinding, sunshine that will be there when you come out the top of the cloud layer.. My compliments to this crew.

I'm 72 now and much wiser than I was in earlier times. I was once convinced that things mechanical and electrronic, particularly their maintenance, was a man's special domain and that a woman could drive a car but never understand an engine or the workings of a washing or sewing machine. Also, a woman could be a good cook but never a chef! It was a presumptuous and rather ignorant take on reality that I didn't start discarding until after age 40. Great work, ladies, and may we see more of your professionalism at the head of aircraft, ships, locomotives, heavy machinery, cranes and inter-city coaches. And the irony is, that no one ever raised an eyebrow at men designing women's clothing and accessories or producing women's make-up!

I flew with Iceland Air from Schiphol to Rekjavik back in October 2003. We arrived at Rekjavik in very thick fog. They did a go around with the 757 before landing. I was hoping that we wouldn't runout of fuel while flying through the thick fog. Could noti see the ground until the wheels made contact. Technology is amazing.

David Giles when the B757 came out that was the first glass cockpit,,I think it may have been 1984,or 85, but I was in the cockpit of a 2 week old aircraft for EASTERN, ATL -EWR, , THE REASON THEY were disliked by ATC, was that instead of 3 mile separation,,with the 757,,it was 5 miles, so it screwed up the system, but that became 5 via FAA, After 2 private jets following,,wend down, from the
Turbulence created., then it was fast,,but drank fuel........... Cheers from NJ

    Good video, professional pilots.
It reminds me that many years back, on one of my hundreds of flights, I was on an AA F-100 from ORD-SWF. I don’t usually pay attention to turbulence, but this was particularly bouncy - I called it ‘The Tigger Flight!’ When we landed, the captain turned out to be female, and so many passengers were amazed that she handled the bumpy flight so well. I thought, are you all idiots? Do you think the airline is giving a multimillion dollar aircraft, along with the reputation of the company, to anyone less than a highly-trained professional, regardless of gender? The comments here are beyond the pale.

@@liamwade8537 The problem is more and more of them are becoming pilots, and sooner or later one of these all-female pc plane crews will wipe out an entire jetliner, and it will be for an entirely avoidable reason. Being able to competently fly a heavily automated machine is one thing, but having the nerve to stay calm and composed in life or death situations is what really makes a pilot, and you can't train that. I guess what I'm saying is I'd trust a guy to hold his nerve much more than a woman if it came down to a Sully or Gimli Glider situation. The woman would fold in those scenarios.

It is kind of difficult to tell from the video, but how much can you hear of those RB211's buzzing up in the cockpit? Is it mostly wind and avionics noise like the 737?

Why has Boeing on these retrofit 757's and 767's Cockpits not also replaced the engine displays with new ones? Looks a bit odd with these old CRT's in the middle.

The engine display still shows as much info as it needs to. The PFD and ND can show so much more info these days.

It is actually an upgrade nothing to do with Boeing, but instead a company called "Innovative Solutions & Support".. It is a bit strange indeed, since Collins has a upgrade, which upgrades all the CRTs.. Well, either way it increases reliability.
