The Yamaha djx is the best dance keyboard ever made. its maker was a great inspiration. I brought you all the dance music of the 90s as it is. We thank YAMAHA for this masterpiece !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, really grateful about the function button stuff. I didn't think I would get my head around the interface at 1st, but I thought about your Jedi comment. Very appropriate really as I want to make music to help combat the dark forces of the great reset and people who think they can just kill us off like we're a bunch of ewoks... I am loving the arpeggio thing and being able to control the type. I set up and saved lots of user sounds, dual and split for songs getting the levels, reverb, octaves etc just right, and, am quite happy with what it can do, it's more of a proper instrument now and very useful, I was playing around with it till 3am. Thank you, obi wan kenobi. A small set back tho, a slight disturbance in the force... Today I discovered that all my user performances were wiped, after turning off the power adaptor. Of course the old batteries inside have long since worn out, but there seems to be no sign of corrosion. Good old Duracell. So, I will be buying some more alkalines from an eBay seller, far far away. Again, thank you so much
I used to sequence my own tracks on this in the 90’s, saved my data using the batteries, always wanted the MDF3 filter for backing up my stuff as I often had to clear tracks to make new ones, got one off eBay a few years ago, wish I could send it back in time for myself😂
@mindalteringfx316 u really should try the mk I ,it's so much more flexible,I bought a djx2 from a car boot ,I doubled my money with it at cash converters......really a djxII is a bad musical instrument....its that bad...
this is the only keyboard ive ever owned... its been up and down the east coast 6 times, its been by my side since the DAY! and it still thumps... but im lookin for an upgrade as theres some low keys not triggering (from bottom C - F#) which kills a lot of that part mode fun, and the return spring in the pitch wheel broke years ago. plus its just time to add to the collection of 1, what would you say is the spiritual successor in the current era?
Thanks for this! I now have 2 - does anyone know how to set the midi channel the DJX sends on (when you're just playing the keys - not the patterns)? There doesn't seem to be anywhere in the Function list, or in the manual, that mentions any way to set the basic channel that is transmitted on, which is strange.
you had me @ manipulating complex rhythm styles... I would like to have a video look at your set-ups; like here with the double identical keyboards; fantastic... your sampling studio arrangements/cross connections must be great! Thanks again for this extended jam. I don't know if there are more folks like me but I am always searching the you tube for 'live' jams too... to play along with... anyways, me want DJX! maybe 3... and am looking into DGX/YPG series too (thanks Masterful Chords). Have a great day gearfacts
Ouch, tough question! I Guess....hmm...nope, I can't answer that! I guess it would all depend on whether you wanted to progress your music seriously (Venom) or if you wanted to just have a blast with a big bundle of automated musical lego blocks (DJX). It's a good question though, and I can see why these tow keyboards would be put together for comparison :)
@@gearfacts Yes surely, there is a little sequencer inside but using live recording It hasn't a quantise feature then...with the step recording is possible to create phrases with accuracy, eventually usable like loops with external hardware like a Zoom R24 that works like sampler/sequencer... Cool dude! I'm facing a problem when I send midi from Ableton, it only plays grand piano preset (1st) even if I manually change to the next preset, any tips on it?
I honestly can’t believe this will be your last DJX video. Are you selling them or what? I think I’d still prefer the PSR E433 over the DJX, though. Firmly awaiting the PSR E473 in the meantime.
I'm not sure I believe it either. I've already got other DJX ideas to put into future videos... So nope, not selling it yet (I only have one now). When that 473 appears - and surely it must appear eventually - I'll be focused heavily on it for weeks I think, and there'll be many videos to make.
What would your wish list be for an updated DJX? Here's mine. An angled slightly bigger, back lit screen. Fully Midi compatible USB connection Green/red lights above the Parts On/Off keys to show when engaged.
@@gearfacts I am now looking around in this rabbit hole and have to agree... where oh where are these features?? I guess going full work station is the only way??

Yes, Press the "voice" button and choose sound 181. I suggest turning "pattern control" and "part control" off too, they are ON by default which is kind of annoying.

I have one and it’s still working great. It will sometimes surprise me what it can do.
It's a fight to who gets to it first in my house. It's hours of endless fun. The sounds and beats it makes are still relevant in 2024.

I was playing my DJX 2 this week. Such a fun piece of kit
But the DJX2 is a different story. First one is superior to the 2
@keyhoarder I bought the 2 few weeks ago and thought it was pretty decent.... picked up the 1 today, it's so much better!

The one thing that missing is the possibility to create own patterns...the rest is very nice
True. Although you can still sequence a beat as if it were a song. Time consuming, though :/

Definitely a midi channel issue I'd say, try changing midi channels in ableton. It's a tricky but worthwhile thing to set up.

I have the psr e433 (sold the djx). The psr is amazing and the the two filter/fx knobs make the presets sing.

Absolutely :)
All sounds sound 'milky'. That's because of the PSR-225 roots.
