It's a real shame that Bandai didn't fix this when the Lupus Rex came out. It has the most rigid arm sockets in the IBO gundam line, and will never droop down holding its huge AF mace. So if the Renascimento had these joints, it could've held up its weapons. Shame that such awesome improvement joint is only in one kit.
I've found that the original Astaroth (not Origin or Rinascimento) actually shares most of its inner frame with the Bael, so their parts are pretty interchangeable. I combined the two to create a hybrid that uses the Astaroth's head, collar, inner frame , feet, sideskirt/boosters, machine gun, and thigh armor, as well as the Bael's waist, backpack, swords and the rest of the armor. I'm not sure whether to call it the Astaroth Bael (like the Kimaris Vidar) or the Astaroth Type-B.

The Dainsleif that is used in the chopper isn't a proper Electromagnetic railgun as it was previously, but an "Explosive" Dainsleif using gunpowder to launch the projectile. Not a proper Dainsleif. The term "Bastard" is a medieval word for an illigitimate child (for Game of Thrones fans think of John Snow), which could reference the fact that Gjallahorn has banned the Dainsleif technology, so Rinascimento should not have that weapon in the first place. In summary the "Bastard" chopper is a cheap and illegal Dainsleif.
A bastard sword is a sword that sits somewhere between a two handed broadsword and a one handed short sword. It was designed as a hybrid between the two so that you could switch between the styles.
Great review. Always informative have both version of kit and was on fence. Think u convinced me. Worse case will give to my son to build. He's a beast. 9 years old and a modeling machine. Gunpla is in his blood
bandai should release entry grades for iron blooded orphans *pros* a) it could be a cheap and easy way to get possible extension parts for other kits because of the compatibility of high grades and entry grades b) it'll save some costs while gaining more money c) just for the fun of it *cons* a) it wouldn't have the inner frame(limits some customisability) b) it would be a bit more limited in articulation(or who knows maybe bandai dips their toes in some third party transformers articulation black magic or something)

I think this gundam suit me the best.... Its simple, bastard and Demonic look, big tanker with a big weapon with it. The big arm make him look like a human with big cyber arm. To replace the original arm he lost. The only downside is the joint hand cant lift the itself....

So in the end bought 2 of this.. No regrets... Can even make the hand covers symmetrical... Which the old one could not do. Sadly the shield arm is a right hand even when flipped so holding a rifle will looks weird

Thanks for the review for the HG ASW-G-29 Gundam Astaroth Rinascimento. I think the asymmetry is part of the charm of this unit's design. I suspect Bandai could very well make a 'complete' version later?
You are so stupid. A "completed" astaroth would just be the origin but in different colors. The whole story is about trying to reclaim all of astaroth origins armor. All of the astaroths have the same serial number btw, which means the astaroth origin is the completed suit.

Totally agree man. If the tech implement in that frame was given to this instead of a straight up reprint, this would've been perfect.

i think the HG IBO line was designed in a way that it is tailored to ready made for easy customization, even more so than the Build Fighters line.

no? Shield arm can be both side? The manipulator doesn't have left or right indications, or you could just take one from the hand guard if it does
