  • 55 Cancri e, which is officialled named Janssen, is an incredibly interesting exoplanet. It could potentially have a lot of diamonds, and be worth nonillions of dollars. But is this actually true? What is Janssen, and could we go there? If we can, could we mine its diamonds, and make nonillions of dollars?

edit: a few weeks after I made this video a study came out confirming that Janssen does, in fact, have a thick atmosphere, mostly made of carbon dioxide and monoxide. So that just makes it so much worse because now your rockets need to get through a dense atmosphere to launch off the surface

just get plants to absorb all the carbon dioxide

The thing is, if you DID have mines there, you wouldn’t be a nonillionare, it would just lower the value of diamonds.

We already have enough diamonds on earth to nearly completely devalue them, so mining any significant amount of the diamonds on Cancri e would make them practically worthless.

lmao i actually did the calculation.
If Janssen has 1/3 of it made of diamonds, and Janssen is ~8 Earths in mass, around 14930500000000000000000000kg of diamonds is present.
From proper research, we can denote 1 minecraft diamond to be 2.5 carats, or 0.5 grams. It takes 24 diamonds to make a full set of armor and 10 diamonds for a full set of tools. That makes 34 diamonds in total.
That means that with ALL of the diamonds on Janssen, you could make 29861000000000000000000000 diamonds in game.
That means you could craft 878264705882352941176470 sets of full diamond armor + diamond tools.
      You're welcome.. •√•

Rotavators/Skyhooks can be used to snatch payloads (or scoop lava with a bucket). Orbital Rings or Space Elevators are even more efficient for moving mass to space.

I don’t really understand why we can’t put all of our eggs in one basket. Do we need somebody to mourn the loss of the Earth? What is the value of a human life that does not yet exist, one that need not even begin to exist? Why does humanity need to continue should the Earth cease to continue?

@@EEE-1409 actually in my personal religion (as in, the one follower is myself lol), we are very important indeed because we are but the universe observing itself. We have no job or role or requirements, our lives are sacred nonetheless, but need not be preserved for arbitrary reasons. When the universe no longer has need of us we will fade to nothing, and that will be okay.
