I live in Carlsbad and when my son graduates high school in 2019, I plan to live the van lifestyle! Way too expensive here! A month or two ago, I saw your van a couple of times as I drove by. I must've just missed you Sunday. I parked by that same tree around 3:00 or 4:00 to call my mom. I usually call her each weekend by the beach because my cell reception at home sucks. Have a blast with your family in Michigan and Colorado!

Tamarack Beach is a paid parking lot, but if you have a handicap sticker it’s free. It used to be a free lot when I walked it every week. I miss Carlsbad! So pretty!
You need frugal, lost on land again, and the dan van, they love hiking and geocaching! When you get to the Rtr find Pam on the Lam, she likes adventure! Please/watch her videos they are the bomb!

I enjoyed seeing the ocean from a new & different kind of beach town. This time it was like being in a bay...so calm with slower waves; almost like slow motion. Drove that area in February. Loved it. So wish I could join you. Been itching to backpack. Have wondered of there are good places in Arizona to backpack or camp and do day trips down there. Would love to do Utah but think february/march may still be cold and snowy. That's why wondered about Arizona.

❤️ I'm homesick for sure now. Thank you for the drive. If you ever get a chance...head to tamarack beach, past Encinitias. In Encinitas there is moonlight beach. Tamarack has great close to the beach parking. You'll find a lot of local RVs of all kinds there...surfer vans as well. I started driving cross country a couple of times a year for about 20 years now...to live here and go home there to family. It's how I got interested in van life channels. I hope you find your travel buddies, it would be wonderful for you. I'm excited for you to spend some more time with your loved ones during the holidays ✌️❤️🍀
