Ethiopian Airlines Places Africa's 1st Boeing 777X Order

Ethiopian Airlines, Africa's largest carrier, has signed a major deal with Boeing for up to 20 777-9 aircraft. With this agreement, Ethiopian Airlines becomes the very first 777X customer in Africa. With the program several years delayed, it would appear that airlines and their leaders have faith that the upcoming widebody is reliably on its way to entering service.

The harsh environment of Ethiopia causes wear and tear on the engines faster than in most places. But the 777x large engines mean less maintenance cost
