- Ethiopian Airlines, Africa's largest carrier, has signed a major deal with Boeing for up to 20 777-9 aircraft. With this agreement, Ethiopian Airlines becomes the very first 777X customer in Africa. With the program several years delayed, it would appear that airlines and their leaders have faith that the upcoming widebody is reliably on its way to entering service.

This is the new spirit of Africa 🎉
Egyptair will**
Do they actually need the capacity? Seems like A350-1000 would suffice. Since they already have A350.
The harsh environment of Ethiopia causes wear and tear on the engines faster than in most places. But the 777x large engines mean less maintenance cost
@@mohwybar5832 Well these plane would only be parked and operated from and to Addis Ababa Airport. Are the weathers there be that bad?
And what caused the problems with wear and tear on A350-1000's engine?
I mean, they already have A350-900, wouldn't they faced the same problems too?
@nntflow7058 They already have the a350-1000 on order so they just want the diversity since their routes are diverse too
commercial plane order is always about politics
@@mischaelxiao8291Yes indeed.

Wow Boeing gets new orders for 777x from Ethiopian Airlines
Don’t hold your breath!

😂😂
Really? After the crashes Ethiopian still doing business with Boeing? Yeah no.
Yeah I saw some really good value tickets to Japan with them but the way they are cozy to Boeing even after MAX incident kinda put me off!
Just shows boeing can do this
Well they’re doing deals with Airbus too, are you happy now?
You are kinda late with that comment. The also ordered more MAX jets recently.
@@AshrakAhmed Boeing is improving and is aiming higher thus it make sense to support the future of manufacturing flight corporation like its self, it’s a smart business move. Boeing though is advance should be put under regulation watch and made to change its staff that made cruel decisions and mistakes that led to bad manufacturing.
Good for them.
Have they watched the news lately?
Yes, and they trust Boeing because they manufacture safe aircraft
@@mohwybar5832 or cheaper
@@mohwybar5832 Boeing tell them that and they believe them.

The 777 has no issues..... So whats the deal?
With the current situation, now is probably not the best time to announce that.
Ethiopian Airlines will operate both the Airbus A350-1000 and the Boeing 777X.
Entry into service: 2035 😂
First delivery is in 2034😂
Evidence
2027 actually 😝
If its Boeing I ain't going
✈️
❤❤❤❤❤
thank goodness they didn't go for the 737 Max
Another clueless viewer.
Ordered more at recent Dubai Airshow, along with more 787's.
no way
Dwa dobre składy
Not like they’ll ever receive it
It'll be in the African skies for sure... and ground 😅
Ethiopian airlines why 😅
Bad idea.
How
@@nickolliver3021 There are not enough people that would travel long distances on it and there's probably going to be something akin to JAL 123 with Boeing's track record
@@one_step_sidewaysWell if they ordered the 777X on top of the A350-1000 and -900 it clearly shows there is demand for it
Sounds like "boing" is giving away planes now.
Lol. So Those Western Arabic countries aren't in Africa. Ok !
😂
Probably the first airline that’s been paid by the manufacturer to have their planes for the probabilitymy God they need to publicity lol
Ethiopian Airlines needs to seriously upgrade their main airport before taking on more planes - it can’t handle more people and is the worst airport I’ve ever visited.
True, especially mornings. They are starting massive 5BN USD airport project.
