- Boeing said during a recent earnings conference that Lufthansa will be the first to operate the much-anticipated and long-awaited Boeing 777-9 - the first passenger variant of the 777X program.
This news clarifies long-standing speculation about the aircraft's maiden delivery, and who the type’s global launch customer will actually be.

I think I have seen the same news for 5years now
It's been a long slog, eh.
because it is future aircraft beating a350 and a size of 747 200
So excited to see it pushed back to 2030!
Looking forward to seeing it fly in 2032! 🤣
@@FSGeek45I’ll see it in 2034, so excited!
As longer it depends to deliver...we will see more länger the A380 on Lufthansa 😜
It will be delivered in 26.
It will be delivered as the first mass produced old-timer. 🤣
Finally! I remember when this plane was announced in 2013
I would advise Lufthansa not to get rid of their 747-8 fleet, too soon.
Yup I agree not because i love the 747 because Boieng is not very trustworthy currently so keep it until there 777x get delivered but they are also getting the a350-1000 witch is to sadly replace the a340 fleet
@qasembaker5417 The A-340s are getting on a bit, A-350 1000 is a good replacement, more power, and better efficiency. They don't need as much Runway either, better for smaller Regional Airports.
@@CraigWelsh-lm3wg What???
777 requires less runway!
has a higher thrust to weight!
@thetruthbehindplanes If you read it properly, you would see I said A-350s don't need as much runway as A-340s, nobody mentioned 777s.
@@CraigWelsh-lm3wg oh woops, I am sorry
I'll believe it when I see it.
You will believe it when 35K orders get cancelled
@thetruthbehindplanes I misunderstood (edited)
@@Djamonja I think they meant A350-1000 which 35K is short for
@@Jack3md Oh maybe, I've never heard it called that before.
nobody asked
I think Lufthansa is a worthy first customer. They ordered the 747 in huge masses, and it is only fair for them to get the 747 replacement first!
I think ordering the 747-8 was still a good deal for LH. They probably got nice discounts and there is still plenty of demand for their 747 for freighter conversion
I'll believe it, when I see it.
Do you really think anyone is gonna take that schedule seriously?
Yes.
Me.
I do, it's doing test flights almost every day now.
bro they says this basically every year
Key word """"PLANS""""
It’s a typo it’s actually 2126
This is quite exciting! I might end up flying on their 777x soon if I get lucky!
Soon? Not before december 2026😂.
Very Lucky
as soon as 2040
No u won´t. At least not "soon"
@@gefaehrlicherDino sadly yh
The last number's upside down. They meant 2029.
I hear 2026🎉
"Lufthansa will receive the first 777X in 2026"
*More like 2028*
Safety MUST be utmost priority. Let’s hope they deliver on time.
No sign of that in Boeing recent history...just greed and lousy aircraft.
@@farnorth7314 Not necessarily, the amount of hours and time the engineers have been working on this program and getting it right is more than any other Boeing program in history
@@Jack3md Because they screwed it up right from the start...
@@farnorth7314 What was screwed up?
It only sounds right to have an airline which has had historically very close ties to Boeing for the last 70 years to be the launch customer of the 747-400 replacement.
Lufthansa is also one of the reasons the 737 exists, so to have such heritage receive the latest and greatest is appropriate.
They could have a dual launch customer with Lufthansa and Emirates as the DC-10 had with American and United.
I’ll believe it when I see it in the air!
I hope they don't regret it, being first is not necessarily a good omen.
2026? Same news 5 years ago. Fade up with Boeing 777X. Same news, same delayed
We'll believe it when we see it. More likely more parts will break before it ever gets certified. Not like they have solved the engine mount issue yet.
Boeing ceo after 2026: So, actually, the first 777 delivery for the 777X will be to Lufthansa in 2030 💀
I won’t believe it until I see it.
Development of a new 'variant' took longer than a whole new 787.
Hmmm will EASA accept the FAA certification after the proposed changes to the FAA? Boeing may have a more friendly FAA but that doesn't mean other countries' safety agencies will accept the type certificate especially after the 737 MAX accidents.
The days of mutual acceptance of certifications are over. The FAA did its own certification of A321XLR. EASA will love the thrust links issue...
Have to admit this is a massive plane.
Has it been certified yet?...
Didn't think so
2027 at the earliest.
Germany is putting a 25% tarif on Boeing
A discount tarif I presume 😂.
Any country is free to impose tariffs anytime
@@maxb4074 Not if they are members of the WTO. But the US has sabotaged the WTO court, so right now, it can't enforce anything.
@@maxb4074Any country can impose tariffs but few can survive them.
I don't know if that's true or not about Germany specificly. But what I do it's easy to avoid such tarrifs by registering the aircraft with another country or leasing company
what's the rush?
what do you think
Hilarious comment. Thanks!
Okay. So Lufthansa will be the launch customer in 2027-28.
Cool
We needed a bit of good news - it works for me.
All the best to Boeing and Lufthansa!
FINALLY.
Yay, Lufthansa! Thank you, Lufthansa!🇺🇸✊🏻👏🏻
Boeing clearly believe its much better to acknowledge delays in delivery bit by bit, rather than announce the real delay, which might shock everyone. Its obvious that the thrust link problem has not yet been solved and Emirate's Tim Clark doesn't believe Boeing's estimates and have stated that in public. If it doesn't enter service before development of the A350-2000 is announced, it will deserve to be called the B777X 'Dinosaur liner......'
Did they resolve the thrust link issue? You didn't answer that question. Just said, they are resuming testing.
Because there is no answer to whether Boeing has resolved the thrust links. Boeing has stated they are resuming testing and monitoring of the links while working on a design change
Bet they miss this delivery slot
Whatever would give you that impression? 777x development has been going swimmingly up until now, right?
Right?
"bet this miss this" 💀💀🔥
Finally good news I had enough of aviation incidences this year
I'd still be amazed if it's in service by the 31st December 2026
At this point, I’ll only believe it when I see it
Thats great for Boeing, they need this air craft to be successful, potentially bounces them back with this aircraft alone from so much negativity, like the comment section as well. Emirates to follow im sure right after
It doesn’t matter which airline to be the launch customer. Most importantly, this model is safe to fly and brings new dimension of sustainability air travel.
let;s wait until it is delivered
So what’s the difference between delivered and operational here? Has Lufthansa said which routes they expect these aircraft to fly on?
Probably on the 31st of December of 2026. C’mon, Boeing, pull your finger out.
We all know that isn't happening 😂
So GTA6 or 777X, which will come first?😊
we will get GTA 6 before 777X. for the first time GTA 6 comes before
Before the 777X we will get GTA 7. Or GTA 8... 😂
Promises, promises, promises... Heard it all before!!
Looking forward to flying on this jet.
Make sure you have a parachute with you
@@aliancemd Nah, make sure to bring a parachute if you are going on a A350
@thetruthbehindplanesbitch you tripping
@@aliancemd What a dumbass comment
Finally
Hopefully no more delays.
Not sure😂.
That's a typo, 1st 777X to be delivered in quote unquote "2036"
We been making them for years now.
I don't know why Lufthansa being the launch customer is even a question. I and everybody else have known this for years. The question should be, why has Boeing fck'd up yet another certification issue this time with regards to cabin fit-out
First customer delivery in 2026 still means there is a full year of certification testing to go. Assuming no further "bumps in the road " it should be feasible...but with the all new powerplant and an FAA going over new projects with a very fine tooth comb, it's not a done deal...
Don't bother with seats - standing room only
German airliner choosing boeing while Airbus was made in germany which is an safer airplane?
And airlines from the US buy Airbus. What’s the issue? You buy what fits your needs best.
Of Course!! They will even give it a name. THE PLANE OF YOUR DREAMS... DREAM ON !!!
Beautiful aircraft! Fingers crossed for next year. Although i thought emirates would be launch customer with the amount of orders.. looking foward to flying on this Beautiful bird. X
I think it would be wonderful for Lufthansa to get the first tri 7 x
All these Confirm means nothing at all, until another issue comes up, it will be delayed again
What is the advantage to being a new type's "launch customer"? Gotta be discounts, right? Can't imagine there'd be much status in being first-better to be in the middle of the queue, I'd think, to let the early customers deal with the dreaded and inevitable teething issues.
I thought Singapore Airlines was to get the first 777X. Been working on 2 777X planes that were going to Singapore that have a lot of work still need to be done….
Lufthansa Technik will take care of the 777X maintenance and repairs. Not just for themselves but for many airlines. It's the main reason why they get them first, in order to train their staff.
@edwinumayam2722 do you work in the Everett factory on the production line?
C'mon Boeing, get her into service. I'm looking forward to experiencing her on the wing.
Oh hell no. I was hoping another airline would get them so they can crash, be grounded, then be finally airworthy. Another Boeing model to avoid, I guess?
Lets set up a prediction scheme for the next date that delays the programme winner takes all.
Emirates would have been the launch customer had Tim Clark not been so critical of the program. Lufthansa has been loyal to Boeing for more than 60 years, and they have been much less critical, so it's understandable. Ultimately, Emirates will probably receive the most units in 2026.
I think on Lufthansa really cares
After all that Emirates is still not the launch customer for the 777X
Emirates only go for quality. That rules Boeing out.
It is not always helpful to complain and criticize in public. As Tim Clark likes to do loudly and frequently
Can’t blame him. He’s been waiting to launch a new cabin product for years. You’d feel the same if you’re worthy package didn’t arrive for 6-7 years
I was hoping the first customer would be Emirates since the airline has several flights per day to several different airports in my country.
Emirates will cancel this old aircraft and be all AIRBUS.
"Plans" happen or don't happen.
I hope Lufthansa begins using them for the FRA-IAD route. Right now they’re using ancient 744s.
They use the newer 74-8 it’s an incredible jet.
@@2010kb1Not since 2023. They used A346 most of 2024 and switched to 744 in late fall of 2024. Since then it’s been 744.
Plans plans plans, nothing but plans
I think there will be delay arrival to Lufthansa keeping in mind certification yet to complete
Don’t hold your breath on delivery Lufthansa, just saying…
I still think that boeing should still produce the boeing 747 program
I don't think it the launch customer really matters at this point!
Just get it in the air already... as well as the 737 max 7 & 10.
So is it X or 777-9? This shouldn’t be so complicated Boeing!
It's X because it represents all 3 variants coming out. The 777-8, 777-9, 7778F.
Taken with a pinch of salt...
you mean 2036?
I won't fly with Lufthansa if it purchases Boeing.
Spirit will take you!!
2026? More like 2045.
$100 that they won’t deliver it by next year
bots love this video
There always seem to be precisely two bot-generated comments whenever a video goes public. We are trying to keep up with deleting them 😓
I don't care who gets it first, I won't be able to afford a ticket on any plane.
emirates and qatar: am i a joke to you?
It is not always helpful to complain and criticize in public. As Tim Clark likes to do loudly and frequently
in 2026 ill be able to fly the fucking thing boeing fucking up
We’ve been hearing of the 777X since 1996. Delivery thirty years later is a little late and the enthusiasm has fizzled out, wouldn’t you say?
You are a LIAR! The 777 has existed since 1994. The 777X was not announced until 2013.
@ Announced yes, but contemplated much earlier. Ot was predicated on getting the engine designed right.
777 MAX ?
Now I need to fly on Lufthansa's 747-8i and 777x
Fat chance
Here’s hoping. Boeing needs to get back on their feet now more than ever.
Boeing is bringing out an old idea for this plane, A place than flies up in the sky and won't land until you want it to.
Took them long enough
They wont
Oh boy, I sure hope it doesn't get delayed again😑
I suppose Lufthansa won't have to pay for the aircraft? Otherwise I don't see any reason to be a launch customer in 2026! Maybe!
Singapore Emirates Cathay Qatar:?????
plan
I guess dec 2026 will still be 2026
Boeing will be happy to swallow 25% in tariffs.
International buyers will certainly not switch to Airbus. Right? .....
You obviously have no idea how customs duties work. The buyer pays the customs duty, not the seller! So if the EU levies customs duties on aircraft from the USA, Lufthansa will have to pay them.
