Guys, it's no conspiracy, it's fact. ESPN holds all the cards in what happens to the ACC. ESPN has the right to cancel ACC contract if Clemson and FSU decide to leave the ACC prior to the end of June 2024, before the new teams are added to the ACC. If FSU court case in Leon county FL moves forward where ACC and ESPN contract are made public, ESPN will force ACC to let FSU and Clemson out, or cancel the media contract. No media contract, no grant of rights, ACC implodes. Face it, the ACC is toast, ESPN owns them! Your NCST and Miami better find a spot in another conference.

The Composition Clause Blocks ESPN from not renewing. And the Pro Rata Clause makes sure the ACC can fulfill the Composition Clause
The FACT that ESPN gave both of those Clauses to the ACC 9 years ago PROVES that ESPN wants to Renew with the ACC.
ACC has ALREADY USED the Pro Rata Clause to fulfill the Composition Clause.
It has ADDED 3 schools because it expects to LOSE 3 schools.
When those schools LEAVE it will add MORE schools to Expand to 20... which has been the PLAN for 9 years.
ESPN knew 9 years ago the SEC and B1G were going to EXPAND. It set the ACC up for SUCCESS after that Expansion.

Chris Lambert "the dude from West virginia" is a LOOOOOONG time realignment leaker. The fact that you guys have never even heard of him..... Does not reflect well on you guys even covering this subject. He's been doing this for decades. He's hit on things and missed on things. Now he is based out of West Virginia. The decisions in the Big 12 used to be made in Austin, so honestly he missed a fair bit in the years WVU and UT were both in the Big 12, but that makes sense. He still broke a TON of minor stories in that time. He probably has the kinds of connections with people at ESPN to give this. I think you maybe don't get what this is. Think in terms of plausible deniability. Years ago UT (Deloss Dodds) went into negotiations with the PAC 12 and then leaked it Chip Brown who broke the story. Dodds then used that to rip a better deal out of his conference mates. Using a more recent example, Big Ten power brokers are pushing info over to Greg Flugar to try to drive conference behavior. As you noticed a lot of it "makes sense in a way" for the business of the ACC, that is because it is highly unlikely anyone would manufacture this level of detail. I could totally see this being how ESPN might push their expectation out to the ACC in a deniable way. A threat if you think about it (as the ACC deal ends in 2027) pushed out to everyone who needs to hear it by calls like yours to your contacts. Just calling local reporters, commissioners, and AD's is not how you vet this. Most of those guys either get blindsided or have a vested interest in not telling you the truth. (You guys should follow "peak around the corner". Flugar has the best connections for this kind of story at this point.)

People keep forgetting that those not trying/capable of moving to a P2 conference have votes here as well when coming up with these wild speculation. Just as unlikely is the idea of dissolving the conference. Schools outside looking in would file lawsuits agains the colluding institutions leading to this dissolution. This would not be school suing ACC, but the individual institutions and any other parties involved in the effort.

I mean ESPN gave them a bad deal from the jump ... But the ACC signed it and all ESPN has done since is hold the ACC to those agreed terms and had the ACC used any amount of common sense and sat down with everyone a deal could have been made that would have prevented the ACCs inevitable downfall and or collapse ... They should have sat down with ESPN and told them FSU and Clemson are gonna leave and a few others could follow let FSU and Clemson sign independent deals with ESPN where the ACC doesn't take any of their revenue but is still apart of the ACC and is held to a buyout you could even tell them they would be on the hook for paying for lost revenue is they left similar to the GOR ... ESPN would have gladly made deals paying FSU and Clemson 80 to 90 percent of what they bring in still making a profit and nobody else in the ACC can justify the cost of taking the ACC to court because their athletic departments don't generate enough interest or money to do so and with FSU and Clemson taken care of the ACC would never have enough votes to disband ... Why didn't any of this happen? ... A bunch of programs that don't generate 20M a year felt like they were intitled to 30M a year in a equal sharing system and now they have left their two most valuable assets in such a bad situation that they would be better off leaving at any cost than sticking around because they would lose more by staying in the ACC for the remainder of the ROG than they would paying the exit fees

Jun 30th last day espn media rights deal applies to only the current 14 full acc members. Feb 1st 2025 last date espn can renew or non-renew acc's medua deal beyond 2026 season. These are the only dates acc menbers need to be concerned with. espn can eviscerate the acc by not renewing media contract. that is all the leverage they need folks.

There is a lot that isn't considered here in this analysis. One of the points that a judge advised me is that ESPN has gotten away with poaching schools when contracts are ending... There is NOTHING legally wrong with advising a school they would get paid more in another conference if they are "available". ... ESPN does not have the ACC under contract after 2027...they just have an option. Sooo.... that is something you may want to discuss with a lawyer --- my friend advises there are a TON of ways this could go. One of the first things he pointed out was that all of these schools are part of the same organization --- the NCAA --- which is a problem for making an anti-trust case. BUT... there are elements that could go either way.

Relax - this is an opening offer. ESPN and the ACC will renegotiate the TV contract, to keep FSU and Clemson, and to retain the current team configuration - the deal to be done by September 2024 = the fiscal year end for ESPN. The ACC/FSU/Clem have negotiating power since ESPN has to make a TV contract decision by June 2025, which is actually too late in the year for football. But, ESPN has negotiating power since no other conferences really want FSU or Clemson.
