I just watched the movie on a whim yesterday and really enjoyed it. Kinda spooked to learn that the next day after watching it, they’re making a tv series. 😂
The best element of the original was the dwarves cast as the bandits. Apparently they wanted to avoid offending people so didn't cast dwarves for this.
The term they want to be called is "little people". Barnum came up with that name as a way to exploit and dehumanize them. Your point still stands though.
I think the word dwarf has existed long before the 19th century mate. Also some people of 'restricted growth' are fine about being called 'dwarfs' and find the term 'little people' patronising...unless of course you've spoken to every 'little person' on the planet and know that the general consensus amongst that demographic has changed.
This is grotesque. We take a completely original idea with exceptional actors, special effects, and an important message and what do we replace it with? Badly retelling the same story, with bad acting, CGI, and losing all the messages of the original. It almost seems like they’re trying to screw it up.
@@medalion1390 if you watch as an adult it’s pretty obvious. Fulfillment isn’t found in material things like kitchen appliances. It’s also not found in conventions like marriage (common theme throughout) Following what you are passionate about (for Kevin it was history) is what makes life worth living.
@@TevyaSmolka yes it is a classic. I've always loved it. However I'm open to this and feel it could be decent. Just have to wait and see. It doesn't weaken or destroy the original though. Nor do people need to watch it. I'll give it a shot and see. Decent looking cast and great writer and director.

I never watched the original Time Bandits, but I’m currently more than halfway thru the first season and on its own I’m really liking it! Episode 6 is my favorite.
OMG, why replace the "little people". They MADE the movie! And Lisa Kudrow is the head of the Time Bandits? Assumed she'd play a mom or something. I can see why Terry Gilliam walked out in disgust. And Taika cast himself as god. WTAF? LOL

I love the original Time Bandits but I never really got the impression there was any kind of important message there. What do you mean exactly?
