I know its Eddie's fault that Mitch says you would scry 2 but the way the ability works you would scry one twice as it says copy the ability not double the ability. As long as you always put the first card on the bottom he wouldn't be wrong.
One thing I enjoy about her precon, and deck in general, is you can almost do all old border cards. Playing mono brown artifacts can put newer players on tilt 😂
Dreamscape artist doesn't put the lands into play tapped so you're actually gaining mana by activating it. Little bit of Freed from the real action and you can fetch all your lands with enough cards in hand.

Of course, they also didn’t want me to tell people that there are no safeguards for people brute forcing someone’s password. And it won’t send you anything to let you know if someone is brute forcing your password, or changing said password
I would recommend Gem of Becoming instead of Burnished Hart for this deck. Getting 6 lands (fetchable ones if you have them too) instead of 4 is nuts. I use it in an Anhelo deck and after seeing Ashnod, it was the first ramp card I thought of. It's also extremely budget friendly! It has the same mana value with 150% of the value, so check it out!
It puts the cards into your hand though, it doesn’t ramp you. It’ll take you 6 turns to play all those lands, you have enough draws with baubles and the like in this deck to not be worried about missing land drops.
While I agree, six is better, it puts them into the hand, though it DOES set up your draws to be more likely to be gas instead of lands, which is always good, thinning the deck is good .
@@HiddenOcelot deck thinning is a nice bonus, but the difference between being up 4 mana on your next turn vs not being up any mana or 1 max if it did result in you not missing your land drop is huge. Deck thinning is nice but I really wouldn’t over value it in any format, but especially commander where you have a 100 card deck. 4 vs 6 is a 2 card difference in a 100 card deck is a very slim percentage point margin.
No, Braids is a triggered ability if an abilty starts with when, whenever or at the beginning it's a trigger Ashnod only cares about activated abilities
For artifacts, Daretti Scrap Savant can be used as a reset button to allow you to sacrifice things multiple times. With Luxior either Daretti would also be a creature and get double effects
I know people say 3 cost mana rocks suck now but I think this deck would be great for the lockets and cluestones! Fix and ramp early and doubling the cards drawn late! I think they are sleepers here and worth 1 more mana then the talismans here.
Ahh ok, that makes sense. I just always read it as a mana ability being part of the activation cost. Thanks for the clarification. Ashnod’s would indeed be sick!
Can I point out that the golden pig seems like a bit of an overstatement? Don't get me wrong but most of the triggers are already creatures or artifacts?
Mitch suggests that we can turn on lands, but there are only 12 land cards that works with liquid metal coating... 🤔 Golden Pig should have better pay off with the whole deck. I blame Eddie...
Marionete master is always a good closer, tezzeret master of the bridge is also good if you need to start converting value into into damage and bolas citadel is always a good option
That's the idea of Liquimetal Coating in this deck. He didn't go into it, (even though he says he would), but he's running a bunch of fetchlands that would usually be suboptimal. For instance, bad river isn't really all that much better than a guild gate. But since you can use liquimetal coating on them, you can use them to ramp in this deck.
Honestly I was making this deck when it was first spoiled and as I was making it, it felt so incredibly boring to make and play test as well. It truly boils down to double sack triggers, so you just put the usual suspects. I much prefer the other mono black version of Ashnod, much more interesting, a lot of different ways to be built.
I preferred to make her a mill deck with altar of dementia. you can also use specific things like the flip cards that give you abilities when they die (the red one from original kamigawa does GREAT for this). Can turn the deck into mill, which is good with a control shell for ashnod.
you can also use recursion of artifacts to keep the altar on the field even if it's destroyed, give yourself the ability to make more treasures on creatures, and you can kaldrotha forgemaster any artifact from your deck you want. You can also use Tamiyo's journal to get cards from your library as you please by sacrificing three clues.
anything with triggers that happen on sacrifice, like say Razaketh, work great too. This is only to get the real win cons, which would be the mill cards lol.
Yes without the requirement of a 2 power creature. But this is just overpowered. The only thing that I think holds it back is it's 5 CMC rightfully so. It's so easy to get the effects started.
why does Liquimetal coating get the golden pig, and not Liquimetal Torque, which has the exact same ability, manacost, but can also tap for a mana? 9i would run both as golden pig tbh. you even name it in the segment after the pig when talking about Vampiric rites...
@@Talokir yeah, the proper fetches are expensive, but expanse, wilds, myriad landscape and the panoramas are pennies and fabled passage is fairly cheap these days as well.
