- Welcome to Lunacraft, a mobile Minecraft clone that was released on iOS back in 2012! Unfortunately, it's no longer available, and can only be played by those who happen to still have it installed on their phone. This is a game I have a fair amount of nostalgia for, and there isn't much good gameplay of it on TH-cam, so I figured I'd dive in and showcase it in a bit more depth. Let me know if you want to see more!

I think I remember being vaguely aware of this as a kid. there were so many games on the app store that have just dropped off the face of the earth now
Luckily a lot of them are actually archived for download as ipa files. And now there is an ios emulator that can run games from up to ios 4! So they arent all lost!

Hey, just wanted to drop in and say thanks for uploading this. Great little gem from a bygone era of gaming. Wish I could’ve grabbed it before it vanished.
That said, hope you revisit it at some point, especially seeing how the gameplay was supposed to progress and what an endgame version of this charming little mobile game could’ve looked like.

The game just came across my mind randomly when "minecraft moon mod" was mentioned in a vid. This is a pretty recent upload 👌 to accommodate my curiosity for the past.
I miss this game. A shame I can't get it from my previous downloads on the app store anymore. It was such a weird, desolate, dreamlike experience with the insanely fast night and day cycle. I never did figure out the crafting fully.
I just found this guys vid too, was feeling nostalgic and wanted to see what I was missing. Cool that this was so developed for a free game. Hope there’s a way for it to be recreated or something

@ I mean if the company that made it disappeared and the game is no longer available it could legally be considered abandonware. All it would take at that point is to get someone with a working copy to manage to upload it to the internet, like the old need for speed games on PC

Might be a wrong place to ask, but this game is extremely similar to a game I used to play in around 2011. The game I'm talking about was like, this exact game, but on pc. It was also a bit darker, and had more content. Specifically, it had actual xenomorphs as enemies from what I remember, multiple tech items like boots that allowed you to invert gravity, different levels of jetpacks and gear, and one other thing I explicitly remember is that you could sometimes find alien shrines or ruins, and find a special mining bot in them. You could then program it to mine out huge areas for you.
If you or anyone else here remembers the game or how it was called, please reply- I've been searching for it for literal years now and I just cannot find it.

Love the video! Definitely a good big of nostalgia from this app when I played it 10 years ago. If there was a demand for a remake of this game for the sake of preservation, I’d love to remake it in Godot if someone had the assets neatly packed in a folder, but sadly finding any content of this game beyond imagery is near impossible.

In 2022 the site for the game redirected to a personal site for who appears to be the sole developer, Charlie Deck, where he displays his various projects. According to the entry for Lunacraft, "In hindsight, further development would no doubt have been lucrative. Whatever the case, I'd moved on to other, fresher challenges once Lunacraft was out in the world." You can check this out on the Wayback Machine. Still not sure why the game was pulled from the app store.
I don't know nearly as much as some people do about the game's details, but there's lots of good information on the wiki, which is still running somehow.

Idk I just miss this game so much and kept trying to remember it and feel sad I just missed last call to download it before it was gone off the store. Maybe if I restore my old iPhone 3, sigh

Blockstory is another “minecraft clone” and i would argue that blockstory is better then Minecraft, i got over 100 hours on blockstory
