I would rather cancel the All-Star weekend than pay these athletes more. They are already getting generational wealth each contract they recieve. Being an allstar is an honor. If that honor and wanting to perform for the fans isn't enough motivation to play, then cancel it. It's so disrespectful, tone deaf and I think rewarding them with more money to do what they should already be doing is a terrible idea.
The All Star weekend as a whole is nothing more than a money grab. It’s not enjoyable and also future all star weekends should never be done in Indy.. ever again lmao
I disagree on the Indy part. I believe ANY city that has a team should get the chance to host the All Star weekend. You can't keep rewarding the same cities.
Yes, lets have it in Las Vegas or LA, just like with everything else. Great way to show 90% of the fans that you don't care about them. lol This is actual brain rot, as if fans from other states don't deserve to have this stuff in their city because its not one of the 3-4 major cities. That is so out of touch. Indiana is one of the best states when it cames to basketball.
Perk you’re the main person pushing this type of play. Stop the cap. And if you felt that it was that bad (which it was that bad), stop saying LeBron is the GOAT. Because he is not! The players of today are soft. There is no defense. I’d rather watch College Football and basketball before watching the NBA
The money ($500k-$1M/player) wouldn’t make that much of a difference because almost all of the All-Stars have max contracts. During the In-Season tournament, certain high-profile players like Lebron were saying they were playing hard so that the guys at the end of the bench could get paid.
This “Pay them more” solution is completely out of touch and the most delusional and privileged point of view to have. These guys play harder in summer work outs against each other, but could care less when it comes to competing for fans. Give them more money to care about fans and to have competitive pride? Got it If anything, give them a break during this week with only All Star Saturday night (minus the dunk contest) and move the game to the summer. Otherwise get rid of the whole game
Anyone who watched the all Stars just proved fans are sheep for supporting the NBA. This new generation of pros are showing its not about the fans, they mean nothing to them. Why pay them more than the millions they are already being paid to entertain.
The Nba Season should be 82 games . .plus 1 all star game. Which ever conference wins, its 1 W for all teams. And 1 loss for all teams on losing side. ! PROBLEM SOLVED. ITS NOW A REAL GAME THAT MATTERS.

Biggest thing no matter what you suggest is same problem. Players have less pride/are cool with losing now. I think so many teams embracing tanking and fans celebrating losing played a role in this too. Players enter the league thinking "losing doesn't matter" unless it's about playoff games/playoff races
Taxpayers pay for the stadiums and we’re trying to give millionaires more millions so they play harder and there are folks out here that can’t get groceries? Y’all what are we doing?
i feel like that would also benefit the NBA as a whole. example, Kawhi is on a contending team right now, and lets say they win the ASG. Clippers knowing that they are on a contending team, and can possibly make the Finals will increase the intensity and competitiveness in games.
Or players should just feel honored to be selected and excited to perform for all of the fans. You know, how it used to be. lol I would rather cancel all of it rather than incentivize them more when they don't even pretend to care. It should be for the love of the game, and respect of the league.
Why should they get more money to play in the All Star game. If they do not want to play hard then eliminate the all star game. It should be an honor to play in the All Star game. There forgetting that the reason the inseason tournament worked was not just because of the money it was because the games still counted towards the regular season record
All Star game/weekend is not competition. It's just exhibition. You want competition, wait till Thursday and they'll be back for that. I agree. But in my opinion the in-season tournament was stupid and unnecessary. Most teams didn't give af. And why would you make the 82 game season even harder.
@griffinpeters38 I'm OK with the in-season tournament because they use regular season games. The Championship game is the only extra game. If it was extra games for the entire tournament, then I'm with you. I would say it's a bad idea. I just don't understand why these guys are not motivated to compete. That's a good idea to have them compete for home court advantage in the finals. That would never happen, though.
Agree 100%
@@Klonopin365if it works then why did mlb abolish it dummy?
just cut their wages
viewership is down.. meaning sponsorship money goes down which means your taking pay cuts untill you make it entertaining and get viewership back up
MLB tried that. Didn't work.
I've heard it before the dunk contest needs to be made public. It'll need to have some organization but you find 10 contestants, put up 100k. Watch these dudes go CRAZY 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why should you pay All-Stars players who make millions already to compete in a game that they said they already love you shouldn't pay for them to compete
A ring? No way. Theres that lack of loyalty and pride
They already get rings for all star selections and have for decades.
Never heard of that.
They need MORE money to compete... 200mil 300mil not enough?!?
Keep saying it 90s Era is the best
Yup and the early 2000s
Early 2000's were legit too. Around 2007ish is when things started to go downhill. I don't even know fully how or why, but it for sure changed for the worse.
This All-Star Game was terrible & it had been for the last ten years. The last competitive All-Star Game was 2003
So you mean 20 years?
2020 was pretty good.
This your math 👀
2020 was good too
That was the best all star game ever... DOUBLE OT... Real high level of basketball
Yeah just feed their greed more 😂

Money wont work man. You shouldnt have to tell athletes to compete. Especially since this game is meant to be for the fans. Telling players to play for the fans shouldnt be a thing.
Try this: 12 Players per Side equals 8 Three on Three Pick Up Games. Make it into a small night of tournament.
This is actually a really good idea
No matter how you put it…they aren’t competitive…
Great content for basketball enthusiasts! This channel covers everything from player interviews to game breakdowns, keeping me hooked for hours
Stop it
honestly they should do only winning team gets payed.
bingo
most of the stars don't really care about the little money that they would get paid. the in season tournament incentives worked because everyone on the team got the money
@@pkboolean Thats why i think if only the winning team got money it might make them compete. Aint no one wanna spend all weekend doing things and not getting paid. 1 million isn't gonna make anyone play harder. The thought of not getting anything while the other team gets your money might work.
also its stupid to reward players for not trying with cash. They might screw up all star weekend even more to incentivize the league to pay them more.
U think Lebron kd & luka cares bout a “measly” 500k-1M$ lol this can’t be fixed with $
Stopped watching all star game for 15 years
Use the format of the rising stars, mini tournaments with G league and rising stars, these guys would force competition.
McClung put on a dunking clinic. His dunks are in the top tier of NBA dunks.
Perk: “I was close to making it one time”
No you weren’t, my dude.
THEY DONT RESPECT THE GAME ANYMORE 😢
First thing to do is to remove the 3 point shot so they go back to playing basketball! That game was embarrassing beyond!
i said the same thing. make them go back to basketball without the three point line. all 3 point plays have to be and ones, no matter how far you shoot it from it will be two points
It's easy to make the All Star weekend mean something, remove the All Star Game and have an All Star selection instead. Just like the All NBA selection at the end of the year.
Keep all the activities on Saturday and on Sunday, will be the In Season tournament finals.
We're holding on to something that will never be the same as it use to be because of nostalgia.
The In Season tournament was a good idea but the finals can gain so much more by being on the All Star weekend.
Nah, I like this idea. The Pacers were in the this year championship too! In front of Oscar, Larry, And Reggie? That would've been 💥🤯
😂😂😂
All-Star Weekend is broken, man. Will never watch it again. I only cared to play my newly acquired $250 512 GB LCD Steam Deck last night.
💯
The All Star weekend as a whole is nothing more than a money grab. It’s not enjoyable and also future all star weekends should never be done in Indy.. ever again lmao
Once the fans stop showing up then changes will be made but that isn’t happening anytime soon seemingly
@@YerpDerp17 Finally someone making sense
@@YerpDerp17 not really
Pay them? That's not enough incentive. They're already banking big dollars.
Pay them ??? Why are you still watching?
This Rivers dude may have a bright future as a commentator. He's a good (even stellar player when healthy/motivated), but his personality shines here.
then people should stop voting on all those players that doesn't care about the all star.
During the In-Season tournament, certain high-profile players like Lebron were saying they were playing hard so that the guys at the end of the bench could get paid.
kobe, AI, KG, Duncan, Vince, jordan, shaq, dwade those were the times🥲🥲. Now it's bunch of show guys
Rivers and Perk hating from outside the club you can’t even get in 😂
pay all stars more money? are you kidding me
*They're trying their best to avoid the World vs the NBA convo.*
That wouldn’t really change anything
This “Pay them more” solution is completely out of touch and the most delusional and privileged point of view to have. These guys play harder in summer work outs against each other, but could care less when it comes to competing for fans. Give them more money to care about fans and to have competitive pride? Got it
If anything, give them a break during this week with only All Star Saturday night (minus the dunk contest) and move the game to the summer. Otherwise get rid of the whole game
How would Rivers know?
Anyone who watched the all Stars just proved fans are sheep for supporting the NBA. This new generation of pros are showing its not about the fans, they mean nothing to them. Why pay them more than the millions they are already being paid to entertain.
I pirated like always, so my view didn't add to their numbers.
The Nba Season should be 82 games . .plus 1 all star game. Which ever conference wins, its 1 W for all teams. And 1 loss for all teams on losing side. ! PROBLEM SOLVED. ITS NOW A REAL GAME THAT MATTERS.
Some teams don’t have have all star representatives on their teams the Kings for example
@@zaveionchambers3809 that sounds like a Sacremento Kings Problem, and not an NBA problem .
@@brandoblack7318 No it isn’t how is they fault they didn’t get voted in to an all star game they have 2 players that could’ve very well made it but since they didn’t they have to have a loss added to their record for that come on now that’s foolishness
@@brandoblack7318 Same with teams like the Jazz or Rockets 1 loss could determine if they have a chance at making the playoffs or not just because they don’t have a player in the all star game they should be penalized for that
Biggest thing no matter what you suggest is same problem. Players have less pride/are cool with losing now. I think so many teams embracing tanking and fans celebrating losing played a role in this too. Players enter the league thinking "losing doesn't matter" unless it's about playoff games/playoff races
Search parties continue to look for Ramona's point. No updates at this time.
Taxpayers pay for the stadiums and we’re trying to give millionaires more millions so they play harder and there are folks out here that can’t get groceries? Y’all what are we doing?
They should change the rule that whichever conf win takes the Final home court advantage.
Nah.
I've been saying the same thing...that WILL fix it.
i feel like that would also benefit the NBA as a whole. example, Kawhi is on a contending team right now, and lets say they win the ASG.
As a fan for so many years waiting to see an All Star game, from now on I really do not care. To waste my time watching a live game I will probably watch the replay on you tube. Screw the networks and the NBA. Also Its time to get a new comisionar.
Its nothing new. The game has forever been trash for the first 3 quarters and unless if we get a close game it’ll be bad in the 4th too. Just looks worse with todays nba of the trey ball. They should scrap the full 48 min game with mini tournament games like rising stars.
Make the game World vs USA. Make bragging rights a thing again
You have $50M players and they want more money?
Larry Bird said "leave the game the same way you found it". The Lebron era is doing the opposite. The next generation is going to pay the price.
make it like baseball regardless of the record the winner of the ASG gets money and home advantage in the finals
I bet they compete if the winner just the finals ,that’s the only way bro
Just take out the Sunday game they don't care, and leave the 3pt contest and dunk contest
Worst all star weekend ever
There forgetting that the reason the inseason tournament worked was not just because of the money it was because the games still counted towards the regular season record
Done watching NBA
Done watching the NBA allstar game for sure..
Rivers said 1mil and an iced out Superbowl type ring. Gtfoh

@@anthonytaylor7928 nope that’s why I said home court. The money is more incentive toward first timers

All Star game/weekend is not competition. It's just exhibition. You want competition, wait till Thursday and they'll be back for that. It's more than half way through the season and these guys need a little break, take it easy and enjoy themselves a little bit. I don't understand this expectation about competition. I understand what Antman said.
then not expect fans to watch it, as simple as that
Then just cancel it..
Yeah except players are starting to not take regular season that serious anymore either
I have never seen a group of athletes who do everything in their power to harm their league, but the league continually turns around and rewards them with record-breaking salaries. These guys don't want to play regular season games, they don't want to play an in-season tournament, they don't want to compete in the all-star game, They want to sign long term contracts but still be free agents and go where they want to go. They want to demand trades they want to demand firing of coaches. It's insane!
NFL players are the least protected, play the most violent sport, but are willing to leave blood on the field equally week 1, week 8, week 17 for a league that treats them like cattle and considers them disposable. It's crazy.
This is spot on
What I hate the most is the smiles for simple no defensive plays

Hongry players enjoying all the bennies of other celebs, swag, free travel and acclaim will come! Those that don't will watch it and be jealous and want to come next year --- all this without giving away more 💵💰💸 to Multi-Millionaires already!
You tryna tell me Wemby, De'Aaron, Russ, DeRozan and them boys don't wanna go!
Those who don't . . . don't invite 'em, and they can't be called an "All-Star" for that year!
And can't be called an XX-time All-Star!
That'll fix it, cuz it messes with they 🧀!

None of these guys have ever been an NBA All-Star, just like about 97.8% of the people in the comment section.
You funny 🤣
Giving them money created this effort problem in the first place lol... and now you want to give them more money? What are you going to do in 10 years when that million dollars no longer motivates them? Give them 2 million? That's just dumb to think giving them more money fixes anything... it doesn't it just prolongs the problem... if the players don't care then just cancel the all star weekend
All that for a bunch of players complaining about having to play at least 65 games.
The past few all star games prove why I don't watch and support Jokic, Luka and others during the season.
Mike, Iverson, Vince Carter, Shaq, Kobe, Jason Kidd and others would NEVER disrespect the game and fans like the new guys do.

Luka & Jokic were two of the worst ones. With Larry Bird in the stands, the man both are compared to the most. They should have wanted to play hard just because he was there. Instead the left him shaking his head.
25 -50 Million a year an endorsements and no effort is PATHETIC!!! Worst 4th quarter effort in All Star history that i saw on Defense. No Pride whatsoever!!!
Instead of giving them money, lets deduct their money. If the TV ratings for All star event is poor = 5% off your salary for rest of the year
Growing up to me the all star game was always one of the most anticipated games for me. I couldn’t wait to see all the stars play together and it was always amazing to watch. But this was a complete joke. I will not waste my time to watch another allstar game again if it’s going to be like this.
